This fire broke out around 8:00 A.M. on Huntington Street near College Avenue. 16 Rutgers students who were alerted by smoke detectors were able to escape the fire. New Brunswick Fire Chief William Borke stated that the fire was probably burning for an extended period of time in the attic of the structure before the smoke banked down to activate the smoke detectors which alerted the students to the fire. 12/15/23.
