    Received my phone Skope last week and was a little disappointed. Clip and scope adapter didn’t fit properly, and once I was able to lock it in it was super tight. Tried to lock and unlock hoping the plastic would wear down a bit and didn’t help either. I tried calling them numerous time and no answer until today. They are sending me a new clip and adapter but sadly I place an order in Ollin since they have a 25% off and made a return claim on the phone Skope yesterday.

    I have a 8x42 NL Pure and a Zeiss Victory Pocket 8x25. I want a 10 or 12. What do you think 10x30/32 (SFL or NL) Or and 12x42 NL Pure?

  • @BackwoodsPursuit

    @s.d.r1062 hey there! Great question. I was actually able to put the 10x30 SFL next to the 10x32 NL, and other than FOV and edge to edge clarity, I preferred the SFL. Both are fantastic though. I've heard Great things about the 12x42 as well if you want some extra light gathering in the 42mm objective. Thanks for watching!

    @s.d.r1062 I guess that depends on what you are using them for. Out west here I typically like a 10x bino for general use, but I'm big country the 12x is very nice as well.

    @@BackwoodsPursuit Thanks for answering. Big country? You mean mountain area? I live in the Netherlands. Flat land I use 8x42 as my main bino because i live in a forest area and love the spot deer and birds in evenings. But maybe i can use a 10 or 12 power when i am at coast or lake area. But 12 maybe too much.... I will check in in shop one day.

    Why use your floater pin at 60 yards if you only have 4 pins. If you run your pins 20, 30, 40 and 50 you can’t use your bottom pin as your floater at 60 correct? I’m assuming your pin setting is 30,40,50 and 60 right? After doing this, then you have to sight in your pins independently correct?

  • @BackwoodsPursuit
    @BackwoodsPursuitКүн бұрын

    @mansalaija hey there! If the bottom pin is the floater, whatever that bottom pin represents (60yds for mine) is where you would align the red arrow with your tape. If 50yds is your bottom pin align the red arrow with 50yds on the tape when you install the tape. My setup is 27, 40, 50, 60, so my bottom pin is set for 60yds. Thanks for watching!

    Worth triple the price of a BOG tripod? This is a legitimate question, I have used a bog tripod and was impressed at the stability even with the lack of a ball head. Using the legs to level your rifle instead of the ball head is the only difference I can see. So I'm just left scratching my head wondering if the extra 200-350 dollars really worth it

    It would be cool to see a comparison between 85mm spotters vs 65 vs 50. I can only afford one, and as a hunter / backpacker, we all have to make the tough choice between weight and image quality for glassing. It would be nice to see what you gain by packing the extra weight of the 85 (which also requires a heavier tripod) vs how affective a 50 would be at the same task. For example, maybe a compact swaro will outperform a full size vortex. Sometimes its actually more valuable to compare apples to oranges.

    I carried a Meopta Meostar 20-70x 82mm scope while accompanying a buddy on his scouting & hunting trips for mountain goat. Between that and the tripod, it was a lot to pack. The huge glass and the angled design are great once you’re set up and glassing, but when carrying it, it would be much nicer to have something smaller with a straight body. Not to mention a smaller scope with a straight body works great on an auto window mount. Not trying to state the obvious here, but many (most?) of us are more likely to pack something smaller, and the scope you have is better than the scope you left at home.

    Hi. Not sure if you have a chance to do a FOV of SIG 10x30 vs 12x42. I have the 12x42 and find the FOV too narrow sometimes. The 10x30 is 5.2 degree vs 3.8 on the 12x42. I want to get the 10x30 but because the EP is only 3, I'm afraid it will be hard to get perfect view without blackout. On the 42 I do experienced imperfect view and need frequent adjusting and on the 30 it may be worse? Any thoughts?

    I would be careful holding on to your rope with both hands when moving it, if you ever fell you’d pin both hands to the tree and you’d be stuck hanging there until someone found you or you degloved your fingers, that’s the reason many guys use a lineman’s 15:19

    Thank you for a great review and comparison between these two spottingscopes! While I am usually not a fan of zoom eyepieces at all because of the often ridiciously narrow AFOV at the lowest power, the AFOV of these models has changed my mind. I am impressed that the Kowa stands so well against Swarovski here. I am an eyeglasses wearer and want to make use of the full FOV with eyeglasses on. When it comes to eye relief this usually decreases when magnification increases. It should be so in this case too. This means that if eye relief is sufficient at lowest power, it may not be sufficient when the power goes up. This will be the most important factor for me, which one I will choose, and if I will get any of them at all.

    You can take the base off of the Slik tripod and what is underneath is almost a perfect match for the Wiser Nighthawk. This will give you more articulation with the Nighthawk. Just use some blue loctite on the center screw and you are good to go.
