Awesome! I understand the inside of that lock mechanism is made of a type of metal that won't rust either, so that lock won't freeze up on you!

I like the titanium but as far as security, it is very poor. The keying system is a wafer lock, basically the lowest form of security lock on the planet that an unskilled child could pick open with some bent paperclips. The aluminium "aircraft grade" aluminum can easily break with a pipe inserted over the handle and easily bent a few times and it will snap off, its still aluminium, not titanium, forged steel or stainless steel. Aa far as pin strength and durability, its probably one of the best out there, no issues with that. A lack of a cover in the key is an issue but considering it's a wafer lock that has super poor tolerences, it would not be so much of a problem to jam up. The price is expensive but titanium, machined alloy and US labor means that it justifies cost but I would only buy it if it had a proper high grade lock like a MultiLock and replace the aluminium with stainless steel. I would not leave a 30k boat on a trailer with that hitch pin on it which could be easily defeated with a piece of metal pipe from a low skill, drug affected person in under 10 seconds. Sorry, just wanted to let you know about its weaknesses.🍻🤠

@DonzLockz you seem to know a good bit about locks. If you were looking to buy a locking hitch pin today, what would you pick?

I was interested until I saw the price, $160 on Amazon...that's ridiculous for a hitch pin when I can get a stainless steel locking hitch pin from eTrailer for $40.

What is missing is a cover over the lock key hole. They get caked in dirt on gravel roads and the key will not insert.

Thanks for the insight! From what I understand, Billy (who was the one testing this) put on about 30k miles all over the country pulling his boat etc and didn't have an issue, but I could certainly see that a key hole cover would help if you were in super muddy areas. We'll pass that along to the folks at PinUltimate! Thanks for watching!

Hey, this is Paul at Big Sky Precision! We have experimented with several different covers for PinUltimate. In our testing we found that the net result was covers tend to collect and hold water. By leaving the lock open, water can leak through it and allow it to dry. This is especially important in the winter months when it can freeze. I've had variations of this on my truck for over 20 years and it just works. Sometimes needs a squirt of WD-40, but it really is bullet proof. Thanks for the review and the comments!

I just leave the hitch in the receiver until it rusts. The pin isn't doing anything except meeting lawful requirements.
