I chose long before the video the Qnap TS-453Be-2G but only because it was on sale for 380€ in 2018/19. Also baught a 3rd party RAM 3L - 4 GB Got one unidentified System failure, which was a waranty case. Reason unknown. HDDs, Jbods and Raids survived the NAS Crash.
SUPER HELPFUL! My only suggestion: if you are someone that got a Ugreen NAS that is using mechanical HDD's, and you've upgraded it by adding an m.2 SSD, then I would highly suggest when you are setting up your storage pools (as shown around 05:30 in the video) that you have the "config" and "data" directories on your m.2 SSD, instead of on your mechanical HDDs. This will make your plex server feel more responsive.
Unfinished crowed funded products. Welcome to the world of 3d printers.
I don't have the option to select my hardware transcoding device. Any idea why?
I use Samsung 990Pro 4TB and Crucial T705 2TB in an MS SQL server in my homelab for an project, then T705 is just rock solid without any issue, but the 990pro is very unstable even that Samsung Magician it is fine and newest firmware. What happens is when the 990pro is under high load for some times then the flash controller seems to go into panic mode that mean that 990pro drive disappears from Windows as an drive, then I have to reboot the server and the drive is not found by bios or Windows…. Then I wait for around half a day for the flash controller to complete it self-fixing/recovery function and then I can reboot the server and the drive magically reappear until is does it again. sometimes there is days between other times it is weeks. So based on what I see it very unstable drive with 1034 hours on time and 16,9TB write / 3,2PB Read (yes Petabyte… it is an busy SQL server) I will like change the for an T705 4TB
Thanks for the video. I have a problem. I can't access the Plex Setup Wizard. I just get forwarded to the Plex startpage. The manage link doesn't work either. The container deactivates itself all the time. Any ideas? Sorry, it's my first contact with docker.
Thanks for the step-by-step insturction.
This asks for a Jonsbo case. Perfect match.
20 Petabytes, sounds like an ideal solution for my Plex needs. 😁 Does it come with integrated graphics, though? 🤔
Yes, but only if you order the blue model
@@nascompares 😂👍
Can you explain the whole “low power CPU (T series) suggested” thing works? Shall my i3-14100 cause the VRM to fry?
Thank you for that video. I was struggling for weeks which drive i should get and was hoping to find the perfect balance between noise and capacity. You showed me i can buy this drive without having issues.
O melhor de todos.
For the Flashstor, is there a way to expand our arrays by adding new drives like there is with with Synology's SHR? That way I can add drives as I buy them instead of dropping thousands of dollars all at once.
Does it have DRAM?
The effort is nice but the result... If this could had at least 1 more PCI-E slot even x8 would be so nice. Also memory slots would be nice to be more than these 2 :) So for example if NAS could support at least 256 GB memory, 100Gbe NIC and 12G sas adapter all at once then it's the working choice, otherwise no thanks :)
It's itx...
@@wojtek-33 That's one of my meanings, it shouldn't be ITX obviously since it's a huge drawback :)
Just spend the little extra money for the 990 pro, you will be thankful in the coming years.
Is this hard drive encrypted in case someone disassembles BeeStation and just plug the drive via SATA to read it?
This video should be recommended by Qnap to anyone buying a NAS for the first time. Really appreciated. Thanks a lot.
can the x16 slot be bifurcated to x4/x4/x4/x4 ?
Where are the air intake holes? How do the drive bays look? Can you reflash your own OS? Are drives connected with vibration dampeners? Can it communicate with a UPS?
Really looking forward to your reviews on UniFi. Not just from a UniFi NAS on the horizon perspective (although that helps), however the entire ecosystem. So very powerful and scale able. I’ve bought into it over the last few years for all, was right on the precipice of buying the NVR Pro as my UDMPRO camera space is not enough and I’ve moved my Synology NAS to a new location. If they kill two birds with one stone and update the NVM Pro into a NAS that could be really cool. Anyhow, very much looking forward to your views on the whole shebang - good luck!
Any tut on how to get a reverse proxy to work with Ugreen Nas, I've been trying but it something seems to preventing it.
Amazing video! For some reason I cant select the config folders in my custom folder structure, it will only use the one in the docker/linuxserver_plex/data etc. Any ideas?
After of hours of searching, had to update the UG OS and fixed the UI.
I want to see Protect doorbell footage of seagulls…
I do not .
It depends on the work you are doing. The smaller the file, the less of a difference it makes. I am a photographer and do lots of big image processing and Photoshop and it very much makes a difference. Opening a photoshop file from my 10Gbe NAS makes almost no difference than opening from my MBP. But 1Gbe would make a difference. Absolutely.
I wont 2+4 gig memory
Edge 1.600 memmory )
Can you make any motherboard recommendations for SAS drives, or a decent motherboard with space for a SAS controller card? Love your videos!
Would love to see the power consumption comparison between desktop & rack mount similar NAS. Like TS-435XeU-4G vs TS-431X3-4G
Encryption is a massive issue too
When there's a AM5 or AM4 equivalent wake me up 🥱🥱🥱
Why would you prefer AM4/5?
@@RedcubeX24 mostly cause i got extra Ryzen 5000, 3000 CPUs (from upgrading friends and clients rigs ) and will be going AM5 come Ryzen 9000
Yeah I tried Jellyfin for a few days, then moved to Emby. Night and day difference, even with having to pay. It's worth it.
Nice!
So what’s the difference between the NAS Board-Q670+vPro and the NAS Board-Q670? About 30 bucks difference but I can’t find a difference at least on the Amazon listing.
Pointless unless you have 25gbe minimum
Nothing beter thans building your own nas
As far as i know sata 3 is 6 gigabit what is about 600 megabyte per second. 1 Gbe is 100 MB/s so yes if you have a nas populated with sata drives you will get a performance boost. instantly. Network speeds depends of course on your local lan saturation so a second 10Gbe switch (not router, a actual switch) between fast gear and slower gear might be a option. Populating Nas devices with ssd instead of spinning disks is also becoming affordable nowadays. This should also give you a instant nas boost.
Great video! When you do a build with this motherboard can you take a measurement of the watts during idle and load?
Too late for 10Gbe. According to the prices it's 100Gbe time now. In 2017 I bought 10x dual port 10Gbe SFP cards for $30 each and used them till last year. Now I have Mellanox 32x QSFP28 100G ports switch which I got for about $1000 and dosen dual port 100Gbe Mellanox and Broadcom cards that cost me $100-150 each :) I'm actually gived away some 10Gbe cards to friends of mine in the neighborhood who I provided with 10Gbit/s connectivity :)
I didn’t believe this because that is a $15k switch but i then i Saw the same deal on ebay. Crazy.
@@GeekTechTeam Yes it's a Mellanox SN2700 switch and we managed to get a nice discount for buying more than 5 pcs.
Can't wait for the follow up. Thanks 👍🏻😊
What about clients? plex has app for android, windows, etc. Can I play synology video, for example, on my LG tv?
I have a small unifi network around my house and to my shed. The initial setup is a tad daunting and confusing so go slow with that part! Please cover channel selection. This system is very solid once you get it set up correctly. I have a Unifi Key but that is also a tad daunting and i don't really know what it does in my network. Looking forward to your "how to" on this.
I have several UniFi wireless access points in my home. Running the UniFi Network in a container on Synology NAS. All patched together with Cisco and Qnap and generic switches. Overall very happy with the hybrid Frankenstein setup. Looking forward to seeing what you learn. Happy Ko-Fi supporter.
Been using this for a year or so and it's been great... now it looks like it may no longer be updated. Stuck on 10.8.13 and 10.9.4 just released two weeks ago Edit: Looks like you are able to manually update it with an .spk file but you have to make sure you're running at least DSM 7.2
Any idea how can I install UGOS back to my NAS? on ugreen downloads all I can get is .img files but I don't know how to load it to the m.2 drive
Well... my 980 Pro just died while inside PS5 😢
Maravilhoso, espero que venha para o Brasil.

H670 is model without intel vpro and is about $20 cheaper. Also vrm doesn't support high end cpus, 13500t is recommended cpu.
