I so wish more men would wear suits, tie, and nice Oxford shoes
How about a video on how to use a fish knife. Obviously, the idea is to fillet the fish somehow, but the knife itself offers little clues on the correct way.
I can finally be pretentious
I would argue that there are other classic menswear items that have hoods including for example the M-51 parka if not the good old hooded sweatshirt itself.
9:15 my father and mother would be caned at school by their teachers at time., during their time they would hit them on the palms for the girls and the boys would..at times be hit on the back
I rarely experience stains, but when I do, I use colourless dish washing soap. It works wonders, and it’s made to break down proteins.
My walking stick is over a hundred years old, it was my grandfather's.
The greater mystery is why men moved on from wearing 1840s fancy tailcoat and white pants
My dad was too proud to use a walker. He just stuck to the cane even if it means more pain. My personal thoughts on this have never reached a firm conclusion on deciding if what he did was worth the pain.
In an average size American supermarket, the lost and found department has an average of 2 dozen unclaimed canes.
My great grandmother brought a swordstick home from England after a trip in the 60s and it was funny to see it as Watson's sword in the Sherlock movie. When I saw it I laughed and had to grab it off the wall to double check, yep same down to the lion head carving on the grip.
You were the man!Great old photos. Thanks for the advice,I am taking up space with stuff that’s not even nostalgic.
I think a group photo should be made of all of your wearing those funky platform shoes that have plastic goldfish floating in clear plastic heels.
Can own a swordstick here (New Zealand) if 1) it's a genuine antique and 2) it stays at home - in other words: "a collector's piece". Being found with it in public is a "concealed weapon" charge. As to a cane/stick being used as a means of self-defence a la "cane fu", if you're carrying a cane and you use that cane to ward off or injure an attacker, like any fight situation, you are most likely going to be arrested and, on *_shifting the burden of proof onto yourself_* by claiming self-defence ("yes, I committed that act, but I was justified in doing so"), you now find yourself having to *_prove_* that your violent act was 1) in defence of yourself and 2) "reasonable force". What the prosecution lawyer is going to argue is: premeditation - you set out to find an excuse to beat someone up, as evidenced by the fact that you _left your home carrying the very weapon you used_ in the fight - and/or the level of force you wielded with a hefty, solid stick was disproportionate to the danger you were at the hands of your attacker. And here in New Zealand, it's not permitted to carry anything for self-defence, so the last thing you'd want to do in court is admit that self-defence was the reason you had the cane on you in the first place - that's basically admitting you knowingly broke the law.
When is that tie going to be in stock again?? I think I've been waiting for almost 4 yrs now...
Raphael, good video, comprehensive and informative.
Very interesting, cant say im a frequent viewer but whenever i find myself drawn in to one of your videos it never disappoints. Keep it up
I use a shavette, best of both worlds, I just snap my safety razor blades in half and I'm good to go!
My dad uses a cane, but he has a bad knee.
Because Peasantry Ignorance, Poverty, Cowardness Be a Freedomous Man No matter Who You Are Sticks Are so Cool So Sad; The loss of Culture
One I was glad that when I came to the similar conclusion and switched to DE years ago I stumbled on a good brand Derby, and while not anywhere as sharp as the Feathers they are still on the better side of average. And of course as DE blades are so cheap I have about 400 blades left from my first order made years ago. The other thing that is great to feature is a newer trend with shavers like Leaf Shave and Japanese shavers. They will use a split DE blade (so you break it in half). And you can put the half blades in a multi-blade holder. So as a bald man single DE blade shavers tend to have fixed position heads and are not ideal for head shaving. But with a 3 blade DE head on a spring angle pivot it helps get that easy constant change of angle you need to shave a scalp. In addition if anyone is interested in straight razors, Japanese Shibimi style razors have become big. They have a straight razor form factor but take a half-DE blade. These are also starting to be used professionally as well as many states have passed heavy sterilization laws on any re-usable blade. So barbers switching to single use straight razors has become an easy alternative.
Unpractical?
Carries not wears ...my God!
Casted?
So many grammar mistakes when speaking. Count vs non count.
What's the trouble with his English?
The Beatles. They changed the hair style of the world and people wanted to show their hair after that ❤ Before 1964 most men wore hats. Ironically they wore some cool hats in 1964 and 65 but wore them less and less as time went on.
Judging by the thumbnail, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this was a dressing guide for the doctor from Doctor Who - ooh that might be an idea for a future video(s). Great video as usual.
If you have a beard going you really should remove it with an electric razor before shaving with a razor .🇮🇹
We still wear them in Texas. Keeps the sun off
My friend found a walking stick in the ground on his property and it is a segmented pressed paper one and it survived in the dirt for I would suppose nearly if not more than 100 years so it was still an almost perfect condition missing its cap so I recapped it it's beautiful
Ai's getting scary, this robot is so realistic
is there any connection between a cane and a swagger stick?
No club collar?
I go full unkempt to make me look like a sage atop a mountain
Thank you in 2024! Maybe a follow up video for linen ties?
I’m Irish . This is my blackthorn stick. It’s sacred to the Gentry AKA Tautha da Danu. Is there a problem? Chris Kavanaugh
I still have my Lacoste Polo shirt. 18 years, no complaints. Hope they still make em that way
Just enjoyed this video. But feel it doesn't credit musical style tribe influence enough. Starting with Elvis, you didn't want to look like your dad , you wanted to look like Elvis. Then subsequently you didn't want to look like Elvis you wanted to look like a hippie. Neither had much time for covering their hair.
It's incomfortable on the trotinette..
Good
Thank You for the Video 😀
Hmmm men do wear baseball hats today
Wearing Lacoste Polos since 40 years, I can recommend the shirts. And the label is really iconic.
HELPP IM IN PUBLIC AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO
The great thing about black underwear/work shirts: they hide the grease stains from work The worst thing about black underwear/work shirts: deodorant stains and streaks
