00:00 Dress Younger: Introduction
Contrary to what some people like to think, dressing according to Classic Style doesn't require looking like an old man. In fact, you can actually dress to appear younger by utilizing many Classic Style hallmarks.
00:13 Our Tips: Play with Formality
Many people think classic style only means wearing a “suit” but in reality, classic style comes in all formalities.
01:30 Sportiness
Did you know that many Classic Style essentials were originally seen as sporting wear? This is especially true of examples seen in the 1920s and 30s, when Classic Style became more youth-oriented.
02:33 Layering
Creativity can take an otherwise bland outfit and inject it with some of that youthful spirit. Instead of always just defaulting to the most typical option, switch it up by creating contrast, finding unexpected pairings, & blending formalities.
03:30 Color
Navy, gray & brown are classic, but can come across as “older” depending on how they’re styled. If you’re really looking to give your outfit a youthful edge, look to include more vibrance instead.
04:34 Hair
Hair changes affect almost all men at some point in their life. Meaning that thinning hair, balding, or graying is simply a part of life. Often, attempting to overcorrect the issue with extreme remedies just draws attention to it.
05:27 Grooming
If you’re trying to appear as young as possible, a clean-shaven look might be your strongest choice.
06:24 Clothing Fit
Above all else, this is what will impact how you come across in your clothes. Ill-fitting clothing will make anyone look their worst.
07:54 Confidence
Remember that how you act is just as important as how you look. You can dress as youthfully as possible, but if you don’t look comfortable with yourself, it won’t mean much.
08:20 Conclusion & Outfit Rundown
Classic style can mean many different things. Leveraging these principals can help you have a youthful edge in your style, without compromising on that classic aesthetic.

Great tips! …thank you
although all of these options look kinda "old" to me personally, I can't deny they look really classy. I'm more of a street wear guy but GGs content is still very entertaining and gives lots of good advice that is also applicable to other styles of clothing. Especialy stuff like wearing your clothes with confidence and the importance of fit. It's never judgemental really and that's one big reason why I keep coming back to your channel ☺☺👍👍
Thank You for the Video 😀
Steve Macqueen is associate with the Triumph classic Scrambler 1200 motorcycle which was also ridden in a James Bond movie. There are 1000 editions in circulation. The point being it's a hobby around clever leveraging of virile tropes without appearing too obvious.
To agree with poster Walter Grimsley below, personal fitness is essential. If you want to look good in clothes, liok good out of clothes..
Appreciate the content as always. I'm sure you've all have brought this up in a recent video but any thoughts on wearing a shawl collar cardigan sweater as an occasional waistcoat underneath a sport coat that features patch pockets? It's not something I wear everyday obviously especially during Summer but during the cooler seasons it can be nice to throw on once in awhile. Do you feel it can be pulled off well or do the collars of each garment interfere? I'm hoping to get a regular Y-Neck option in the future for a smoother look though.
2 words only: Excellent advice.
I'm 64 and I use a moisturizer daily. And I have been applying it for a number of years now. My skin does look younger. I dress for comfort more than fashion now. I'm always tidy when I go out , even to the supermarket ha !
Considering I just turned 40, I'm a fan of classic style but not quite ready to dress like that's all I have in my closet that works. Mixing and matching, such as denim with a sport coat - works well for me.

Yeah, there's no reason to adhere rigidly to the classic style. I dress mainly that way for work just because I have pretty much always dressed that way, though at times I have slackened and just wore tshirts and jeans. But for the most part, I have stuck to the no threes: no t-shirts, no jeans, no sneakers. You can adjust your dress style within the confines of that rule how you like. But, outside of work it does become harder to understand how to fit classic style, especially when it becomes hot and humid and when you might get dirty.

Hi, love the video. Just one note 3:53, I'm Italian and "scorpacciata" isn't really a term we use in the style industry. You may look for the word "sbarazzino" "Stile sbarazzino" Is when you are put together and with intent behind, but at the same time there is a sort of nonchalance and playfulness, almost a challenge to the norm but without going overboard
Actually a lot of good tips on dressing for the modern lifestyle not just on dressing younger.

I love a classic sweater on a man.
I don’t believe in dressing youthful. One should embrace their age and dress appropriately. About 30 years ago, I worked in an office where not wearing your suit coat was considered business casual. The thing I like about classic style is that there are so many choices to express oneself yet look good.

An interesting view - what are your thoughts about dressing for those in their late teens/early 20s?
@acftmxman
26 күн бұрын
@@gentlemansgazette That’s a good question. I know the current generation just flies by the seat of their pants and doesn’t put much thought into it other than seeing some “influencer” on TikTok and wanting to imitate. My view would be while at work, dress professionally and act professionally. Look the part and act the part. In the real world, if you dress well in classic style, people will treat you differently. Usually with respect. There is a time to relax and dress more casually. But you can do so looking more put together. And if someone teaches you, you can do it without breaking the bank. I tried to teach our son these things. Now that he has graduated college and has some years under his belt working, he gets it. He is in his mid 20’s now.

I always meant to say this, but scorpacciata is not a word associated with clothing in italian. It basically means "feast". It could be used literally for food or figuratively for other things like "una scorpacciata di premi" meaning "a feast of awards". Keep up the good work though :)

Doesn’t help that this host has the charisma of a block of wood.
I just look old no matter what now. I don't shy away from wearing youthful clothing, but at 31 looking like I'm 41, there's not much I can really do without looking like I'm trying to retain my youth. So I dress like a mid 30s Midwesterner like everyone around me
I really struggle with this issue. I love classic menswear, suits, classical Goodyear welted shoes, comfy and high waisted trousers. But I'm in my early twenties and already look older than I actually am. So it's extremely complicated for me if I want to hold my classical style. And I really want. Jacket with low buttoning point and big shoulders is the worst thing for me. I cannot wear it, because I feel like I'm 65.

Like anything, this is another weird Internet rabbit hole that can consume you before you know what has happened. Take inspiration from the Classics but don’t emulate them, I say. You’re going to look like a goofy Pointdexter guy. Nobody in their 20s should be rocking high waisted wool pants and suspenders lol
@g.lheureux4252

At your age I would not stress it. I'm 70, just stay away from trendy stuff. Stay true to what makes you happy. Unless you require a selection of suits to make a living no worries, as long as you're neat well groomed confident in what you wear and how you present yourself you killed it. Good luck on your journey.
@themoderndandy713

I'm twenty-three and wear three-piece suits, dress hats, suspenders, cufflinks, high-waisted wool trousers-pretty much everything EchoMountain thinks I shouldn't wear. I wear it because it makes me happy. One always looks one's best when they're wearing what they feel happy and comfortable in; when wearing something they don't feel genuine in, it shows in their demeanor. Social acceptance only matters with people whose opinions are worth worrying about, and people who look down on you for wearing clothes you like just don't matter. In fact, dressing in a unique way serves as a great filter for weeding out snotty conformists and attracting like-minded and unique individuals; most of my closest friends approached me because they liked my style. Don't be afraid to do what makes you happy-and under no circumstances let other people take your happiness away.

Less fashion oriented casual dress like t-shirt and jeans are popular because they’re the most forgiving (off the shelf) for a large variety of body types, IMHO. For example, my body style, shape doesn’t work well with a lot of off the shelf clothing. Most clothing is too tight in arms, chest, legs and/or way too baggy elsewhere (mid section, waist, etc.) I’d love to dress more formally at times, but I look and feel as uncomfortable as a gorilla stuffed into a suit. Sweaters are about the best I can do.
