I would just like to say that I'm very impressed with Prestons manners in this video. I certainly feel like I could learn a lot from him. He always listens carefully and patiently and gives the interviewee a chance to find the words he's looking for himself, yet at the same time he will help out in a very considerate and tactful way once the interviewee makes it clear that he would like him to. This is a very delicate balancing act, and I think he managed it perfectly. A lot of people would have jumped in to guess what word the interviewee is looking for, before even giving him a chance to think about it and come up with it himself, which even though well-meaning, could unintentionally come off as being a bit patronizing.

Thought something similar - just a great interview!
I have to pay a visit to A. Marchesan. The shop is located in my old neighborhood, and not very far from my present. Thanks for a great interview, Preston.
I bought my first 1940s three-piece suit there! Wonderful store!

@@gentlemansgazette Wonderful, woll suit that works throughout the year. Extremely well-sown with modest purple, white, red, stripes on the overall dark brown suit. From afar it looks dark brown but the closer you get the more impressive it becomes! Notch lapels, wide cut high waist trousers, short waistcoat… you simply don’t make these anymore 🥰
What a great video! Always a joy to visit A. Marchesan. The place is amazing and the video doesn’t do justice to how gorgeus the shop itself is. Please, more of these! Even remote interviews with fellow menswear enthusiasts/entrepreneurs around the world would be interesting and exciting!

@@gentlemansgazette I’ve really enjoyed your recent collab video with Arterton London as well as older video introducing/ interviewing Rudolf Beaufays. Likemindedly, some other vintage dealers like Hornets and Kensington in London would make an interesting video for sure. Additionally, there are plenty of deep-diven enthusiasts who would make awesome interviews - for example Shohei Yamazaki. Of course enthustiastic and ambitious brands such as Ask Okey would be very interesting as well.
Been following their insta for quite some time now. One of the most impressive vintage stores I've ever seen. Brilliant!
Well Done. Looking forward to the website! Nice job Preston. After reading some of the comments I would like to point out that conducting an interview with someone where English may be their second or third language can be challenging for both parties. That being said, in my opinion it went rather well.
Nice video. Really excited to see one for vintage shops in Canada in the future!
Wow, what a shop.
English is not his native language and and he was nervous and Preston was being supportive and made him feel understood even though he was struggling with finding the right words to express himself in english. I live in Stockholm someday I’ll swing by and check it out it looked like a really nice store. I don’t really buy vintage but I’d like to check it out even so because it looked quite interesting.
Fun to see you visit this one, love visiting Marchesan. hope you enjoyed Stockholm :)
Alexander looking humbly amazing as always!
Love that he has his own line, people will certainly stop in for a used item and pick up some basics along the way. All the better if the new items have vintage styling. Great interview. Tip: Saying, "hmm-hmm" to show you are listening, is a myth! We don't need to hear it 100 times. A few nods, a few statements or clarifications shows the speaker that you understand what he is saying. He already KNOWS you are listening as you are in the room looking at him.

Thanks for your feedback! We were aiming for a more casual approach, and the interview was largely filmed in one take and edited down for size

I go there all the time, great shop!
This is an interesting topic. Vintage wear in other countries/cultures. A gold mine of content I think with this topic.
Oh I am in Sweden, definitely will go there!

Dang, a more in depth tour of the shop and all or nearly all of the things it has in it would have been amazing. Other than that, great video.

Most of my trip to Sweden (in April 2024) was in Gothenburg, visiting friends! We took the train to Stockholm to spend about 24 hours there, during which time I filmed this video with Alexander (and Jack). - Preston
As an Australian. it's cool that your doing shoes in Kangaroo. Kangaroo leather is renowned for it's suppleness and toughness and has probably been used for a century or more to make boots for our football codes and also for cricket (our national game). Although these days cricket shoes are made more like running shoes with lightweight, artificial fabrics. Also used extensively by RM Wiiliams - an iconic and incredibly popular boot maker that is a must have for every Aussie interested in boots.
I wish you a great success!
Living in Stockholm I got 1940's Trench coat and a fedora hat. Exquisite.
Have been wanting to go there for a long time. Just never had the chance yet to go to Sweden
Great video. Preston has a great manner and interviewing skill. He draws the interviewee along without interrupting. A man of many talents. Ask for a pay rise 😂
Preston keeping his beard going is a good call 👍

@@gentlemansgazette Thanks for asking. No i didn't get anything from the store, but i tried on a Felt Top Hat that was very fine. But it was a little too small for my head, they said it's very hard to find Top Hats in the 60cm size like i have. But i found a size 60cm at an internet auction yesturday and bought it, so im finally going to have a "fitting" Top Hat 😄
The 3peice suit with the shoes and hat reminded me of raymond reddington.
Please do a hairstyling video. I can’t stand the trends of my fellow teenage peers. You guys always look great and I just can’t replicate your hairstyles. I beg you 🫵🙏

@@gentlemansgazette This is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you.
I've been three times in Stockholm and I hear of this wonderful store for the first time. Time for me to come back soon! Greetings from Berlin ❤
Dear Gentleman's Gazette! Recently, I came across a lot of difficulties purchasing flowers and bouquets. I feel like most florists have inherited their businesses - without following any traditional, or symbolical meaning. Even though they keep asking me questions if I like the colours, the additional grass they put in, the paper, I'm totally lost in what should I be paying attention to in order to purchase a nice bouquet - for a special occasion. How should we buy flowers for different occasions? Please, help us!
Please make a video on Ingemar Albertsson also know as ”Vintagemannen.” For all us swedish menswear lovers.

@@gentlemansgazette if you do I’d recommend visiting petronella it’s a second hand store in Östermalm it’s one of the most wealthy parts of Stockholm so the clothing there is very good. It’s where I bought my tuxedo and white tie waistcoat.
Perhaps Preston should have given us the rundown on his outfit, as well.
This interview is a bit uncomfortable to watch. The body language seems stressed and awkward. Personally, I think the questions should be memorized. You know vintage classic menswear is of great interest to me because I am a reseller, and I adore the look on men. Perhaps a store tour would have made this interview more relaxed and improve the rapport between these two. The owner seems very nervous. Lisa

Thank you for your feedback, as always, Lisa. This wasn't months in planning and happened very organically as an addition to Preston's personal vacation to Sweden to visit friends. As Jack possesses a camera set-up and lives in the UK, we quickly booked flights for him to hop over and film the video. Perhaps with more planning, it might have been more enjoyable for you?

Glad to hear you're a fan of the store! What would have made the video more enjoyable for you?
Preston did a great job, but this store owner talks so slow and boring.
Too bad Preston's such a goon. In his case his modest poses (hands in, toes in) make him come across as insecure and unsure of himself. Need more Raphaels. I mean seriously his body language is just painfully awkward, especially that nod/head bob he's always doing.
