I noticed that this is a GMC with an aluminum roof on the box. I want a Chevy or GMC because I like the seats and room. I wonder where you came across this truck. Penske uses Chevys, but they have fiberglass roofs on the box. U-Haul has aluminum roofs on the box, but they are usually are using Fords.

I bought it private sale from a family that got it from a landscaping company in California. I’m not sure if it was originally owned by one of the moving companies.

I don't understand why more people aren't talking about this. Maybe that's why the program is so lucrative! I buy $250 of gift cards from kroger every month and use those to pay my bills. Then I take the fuel points and redeem them for $1 off a gallon at the pump. I always bring extra gas cans when I go to fill up my car so I hit the 35-gallon limit each time. I saved over $1000 on gas last year.

I also made some DIY fiberglass flares 2 years ago, it worked very good but I wasn't happy with the "not professional look" like you have, even if I sanded, added other layers of pure epoxy, etc,so I then I tried spraying 2 layers of U-Pool Raptor liner on my flare, and it just masked all the imperfections and even gave a nice look to the van. Very easy to apply as well.

Consider using OSB like he did and then skin with white aluminum sheet. If not aluminum then use ACX plywood and paint white. (ACX is very smooth compared to rough “wafer board” OSB and finishes nicely.) Use Loctite on screws that go into metal frame of box van.

To create a “dam” around the edges he screwed and hot glued 1 x 2’s covered with black electrical tape. The tape came off clean from the epoxy. Use a notched spreader to spread the epoxy.

nice man, I'm beginning my build now in a 2006 Isuzu NPR with a 16' box. I'm stuck on how much the roof can support...my solar panels and unistrut rack will likely weigh like 200lb, idk how much these roofs support so looking to frame my build out for extra support. Subbed so i can keep up with your build!

you want notches in your spreader, not a roller. if you try a roller, get specifically an epoxy roller, but its a waste of money.
