Consider using OSB like he did and then skin with white aluminum sheet. If not aluminum then use ACX plywood and paint white. (ACX is very smooth compared to rough “wafer board” OSB and finishes nicely.) Use Loctite on screws that go into metal frame of box van.

I really like how you share your thought-process with us, and aren't afraid of showing us mistakes; all of it is so helpful to learn from. Thanks!

We just picked up a Little step van for my Daughters Start up bakery Business and it need a Roll up door replaced. This is much more cost effective. Thank you for doing this video this has really helped and given me some good ideas. Well Done sir!

Appreciate it! And best of luck with the bakery. I had a small trailer I built several years ago for starting a donut business. It was definitely a lot of work but I enjoyed it.

ACX or BCX plywood is sanded and would have looked much better if you were going to paint. It costs about double what that OSB costs but you only used two sheets and would have saved in labor plus had a better looking end result. For true stealth, buy white 027 aluminum 4'x8' kynar sheets and screw them in. Then OSB woukd have been fine. On your bolts and nuts use loctite or other thread locker since all that vibration will cause the nuts to wiggle loose.

I have looked everywhere online and can’t find 4x8 aluminum KYMAR sheets. What is KYMAR and where can I find this?

Just a thought. How are you going to stop people locking you in from the outside?

I thought about that, but I’m not too concerned. The pass-through will have a door on it so that’s always an option if there was an issue with the back door. Thanks for watching🙏

How do you insure register the truck as personal before you get the build completed?

Registered it as a personal truck just like any other vehicle. Insured through Liberty Mutual. I think the larger box trucks have to be commercial policies because of the size but I didn't have any issues with this one.

Hey man, thanks for the video! I’m wondering what kind of screws you used to attach the framing to the truck?

Thanks for watching! I used self-drilling lath screws. I get them at Home Depot but I’m sure any hardware store will have them.

Do you get much water intrusion? Also, should I paint those anchor hole screwpoints to keep the rear step from rusting?

I haven’t had any issues with rain. I put some weather stripping on the wall and around the door where they make contact that you can kind of see in the final walkthrough video. The inch of overhang from the roof I’m sure also helps. Are you talking about the screws going through the wood frame into the truck frame? I’m sure not every box truck is the same, but this one has like a tube structure. So the spots that I screwed into aren’t exposed. But if you can get to them it would definitely be good to hit them with some rustoleum just to be safe.
