with a little bit of work you can improve that finish quite a bit.. Youre gonna have to hit it with a random orbital sander to even out that surface. then, once you have a mostly smooth surface, fill in the low spots and hit it with the sander again. you did all the hard stuff, then skipped the easy stuff lol..

Please dont use a sander. Spray it does with primer and then mist it with black paint, let it dry, then glue a long piece of sand paper on a board to keep it flat and then sand the length of the piece. the black paint will show you all the low spots and the long board will make it all even. You can also use way more body filler but next time you can also put tape all over the foam board so it doesn’t soak up the resin.

@@jamesyahn fair play. I used a ROS, and the finish turned out immaculate. however, my piece started off much more flat. doing round over edges can be a bit tricky. i would say that for the best success, the piece should be CLOSE to perfect straight away. its when loads of filling and sanding is required that a lot of hours are required.

fiber glass is so easy to break, and thief can go inside the van so easy too. if I build at least I will put a bullet proof sidings, especially that you will sleep there at night.

You have to use epoxy on foam. The fiberglass resin will eat the foam

It looks like the epoxy sealed the foam enough to mostly stop the polyester eating into it.

@@_natebassettYou actually did an experiment that I have been thinking of doing for sometime. Polyester is much cheaper than epoxy so if foam can be sealed with one coat of epoxy and then continue with polyester it can add up to a big cost saving on larger projects. Plus you can get polyester from the local hardware if you run out. Keep the good work.
