Ha ha love this!
A perfect example of how a great idea always seems to turn into a much bigger job than first anticipated. Nice one Stuart.

@@shadowdugify 😂Yep, & just try getter the other half to lend a hand! No chance.
I love how you solve problems. From working alone to the foresight of installing the conduit in the concrete slab. And then the punch line at the end with the brolly😂. A thoroughly enjoyable watch on a sunday morning. 👌🏻
Tip for working at low heights for an extended period: use a platform. You can use more than one, or use some boards to extend between two. Massive reduction in going up and down. Your knees will thank you by louvre 3.
Stu - I loved that transition of the drone plan view to the printed out piece of paper - superb editing!
Great video! For anyone reading this, remember to check local codes before you do something similar. In some areas, as soon as a "building" is technically "attached" to the house, it may suddenly require a building permit from the city.
I had to rewind a few times when you said "The Range" and "£2000"! I didn't even know they sold anything in that price range. Nearly spat my tea out, although based on some comments it seems like good value. Another great video
Looks very neat. Great job. Brilliant snippets of advice too. Love it.
Great Video! Loved how you explained the issues you had to solve.
You can’t beat sitting in the garden on a Sunday morning with a coffee and a new proper diy video. Missed you last two weeks. Holiday???

He was at the NEC Birmingham last weekend. He even chaired a very interesting QandA session with a group of other KZread makers. I will also just add. If you think he’s a nice guy with a good sense of humour in these videos, wait till you meet him IRL at one of these shows. He’s a perfect gent and the humour is totally natural. Didn’t even mind when I asked what some people might think is a personal question. Top bloke and his wife and daughter are lovely too. I now wear my PD cap with pride when I have a nice well earned (sometimes) cuppa in my PD mug.👍

Nice one mate. Can tell he’s a proper bloke…excuse the pun.
Good addition to the property. Great vid as always. Particularly so, as you’ve answered exactly the very question I had in mind on how to secure pergola posts effectively to concrete patio for the pergola I am about to assemble. Marvellous timing.
Super tidy job. Looks great.
I’m just weighing up doing this exact job at the moment, so this guide was very helpful!
Absolutely superb job. You attention to detail and planning really are very impressive.
You did well doing the job on your own Stuart, looks really smart.👍👍
Oh Stuart! I love the efforts you go to to provide us with Sunday morning vids. Thank you!!
I really enjoy all of your vids Stuart, but this one was most enjoyable. Its great how you really think outside the box so to speak to achieve your goal, like the extra slabbing stones and attaching the pergola to the house. It looks great too.
Brilliant, you always make things look easy!!
I just love your channel which is full of helpful advice and terrific humour thrown in as well! Thank you
Wow, great job, My nephew Iand I was just looking at that at the range in enfield, great value, and now I see it is good quality too. Thank
Thanks again for sharing a great example of quality workmanship. A pleasure to see 😊
Only recently discovered your channel, and have found it really useful! Thank you for the videos and for explaining things in plain English! Those little wheel dollies look really handy!!
This is spot on man, I'm pretty sure my mother ordered the same one which comes mid June which she wants me to put up. She has the heaters and all that stuff too, this vid will help alot cheers.
Looks amazing!
Perfect time / day to release a vid . Nice job and very professional production Stuart 👏
Nice one Stuart giving me some useful tips. Thank you.
Job very well done Stuart, Bravo.
Another great job Stuart, great forward thinking with the conduit through the concrete 👏
Excellent as always Stuart , I feel your pain as I’m a tradesman and always work alone which can be a lot harder with many jobs 👍 I used your method to revitalise my lawn, cut, scarify, re-seed and a layer of multi purpose compost the day after I saw your video. My lawn already looks far better than it has for five years, thank you. Also ridiculous as it sounds I’d already planned to build a modern pagoda ( though from scratch with timber ) I love how you put in the extra effort to improve the products you use and your forward thinking. Thank you Stuart, love your channel’s 👍👍
The powder coated aluminium looks great Stuart…. And zero maintenance 😃. I used a very similar system to build a 5m x 3m carport on the side of the house…. You definitely need a helper! Loving your drone videography …. adds a superb professional edge to your vid…. Brilliant 👍👍
Excellent video & lots of useful tips, thank you!
Quality video as usual. Literally just taken delivery this morning of a 3x3m titan pergola which I’m looking forward to building next weekend. Great job.
Absolutely top job as usual. Many thanks for the useful tips
Your comments always makes me smile 😄. Great video and loads of tips. Cheers
Very good. I like the idea of the wiring conduit.
You make it look easy Stuart. Great job and the colour is great against the house.
Just so good. Clever solutions to small blockers and workarounds to enhance the quality of the job always.
Fantastic job Stuart! We’re looking to extend our current patio a bit and put up a pergola, and got quoted £7k just for the patio 🤦♂️, these videos definitely help and we’re hoping to do it by ourselves! 💪
I love living vicariously through you. Love it!!
Your pergola looks great; nicely done!
Great job mate. Well done 👍😊
Hi Stuart it was good to meet ya last week at Makers Central we had a quick chat about the secure door from lathems that you fitted and you gave me one of your Ive met DP Badges enjoy your sunday and keep the videos coming.
Came across this video by accident but what a find. Very clear, well thought through. I have a similar 3x3 pergola & put it together single handed too, had similar approach to you but some of your gadgets would have made it easier for me. I’ve not committed to bolting mine down yet but strongly recommend, these aluminium frames are so light, mine is currently held down by piles of block paving on each leg (not the best look) and I’ve never noticed before how often we have such strong winds. Plan to bolt down like yours but I would also recommend attaching to the house like you did (not possible for my situation), in high winds there is a fair bit of flex (and creaking) on the corner joints. Really useful video for anyone considering similar.
looks really smart, great job!
What a lovely addition to an already beautiful property Stuart. Fantastic vid and advice as always Stuart.
Video editing is top notch. Always enjoy your uploads and learn something. My favourite DIY channel. Keep up the good work.
Nice work! I like the way you also think ahead, ie. the tube for any future cabling. 👍🙂 A good lesson for us all.
Cracking job-looks brilliant 👍.
brilliant, loved the fabricated chock to fix to structure, i use resin anchors but will try those metal sleeved ones as looked really simple with the wrench
YES he’s back. Woke up last Sunday, made my coffee, loaded up KZread and no video?? 😂😂😂
Grand job Stu looks class matching the house. Also, well done for doing it on your own, it's tough and takes time going solo. 👌
Well done Stuart for an exceptionally creative video. Great choice of music and of course it wouldn’t be you without the humour. I guess this is what you’ve been up to for the last 2 weeks. All in all a big project. Loved it.
Fantastic job Stuart! It looks so smart. 😊 👌
Another great job done looks ok
awsome video, dont forget about the pointing
That looks clean Very cool Stuart. Ive started to get more jobs where people want pergolas must be back in fashion.
I saw this in the range and was considering the purchase too. Great video and things to consider with attaching to the house etc
Nicely done
Nice job well thought out too 👌
The god of DIY ❤ always thinking ahead to the next job, nice work 👏
This channel just gets better and better 👍
Really great video. Everything you do, you do so well. Very inspiring.
Well done, Stuart!
Brilliant video as usual stu
That's a lovely pergola , always wondered how they put those things up, well done on a brilliant job, really suits your house ,thanks for another interesting ,informative video ❤️
Nice addition to the property.
Lovely job 👏🏼
A nice job done there matey.Well done and with working on your own as well.
Love this one Stuart! Fair play 👍
Stuart, you’re an absolute legend. Can’t say how much I enjoy your videos, always relevant, clever, informative. Keep smashing it mate 👏🏻
Nice job as always! 👍😃
Like your forward planning with respect to the conduit for any future cable connection
Very nice and I looked at that Very Same one in The Range. It looks like decent quality too.
Great idea Stuart.Nice find. The only things that builders left me was rubble!(nice rock garden though).😀
A job well done again
Brilliant video Stuart 👍🏽
Well done good Job
Looking grate mate 👍👍👍
Haha brilliant. I'm looking for getting one but made of wood and those insulating plastic boards. They let trough some light and don't let trough rain so I can also use it in winter to barbeque.
It looks the business 👍
Very imporessed with how you managed that on your own Stuart. Cheers, Ian.
Very nice Stuart, now pour yourself a nice drink and enjoy the summer, not forgetting to make some more great videos of course ! I built a wooden one 4.8 x 2.4, about ten years ago, I still like it apart from when I need to repaint it all, which is now for the fourth time !
Hi PD well done impressed
Would you be concerned about the posts tethered to the patio slabs? Could strong winds pull them up? Love the results.
Just came across your channel. My kind of viewing. Great work
Great job as always mate, love your videos, keep em coming :)
Slowly becoming my fav channel this 😉
Great video
Great job, Stuart looks really lovely mate just a thing when entertaining guests😊
This looks absolutely amazing! I love how you always explain challenges and how to tackle them. Can I ask, is there now a gap between the patio doors and the pergola?
Data cable in the gravel border! - didn't think about that before - cheers
Hi Stuart, it was great to meet you at Makers Central. I've got the badge in pride of place on my tool belt. I'm looking forward to seeing that vid on work trousers. 👍🏻
i used threaded bar through fence posts to stop wobble.covered by plastic tubing.
Nice video Stuart. Smart addition to the property. I wonder about the oak tie-downs and if they wouldn't be better of with some sort of a pitch to shed water? Take care & stay safe.
It's a fantastic looking job there I'm thinking of changing my mind from timber pergola to aluminum one now timber in Ireland is so expensive and quality isn't in timber anymore so thanks great video
Great watch…You deserve an Oscar for this vlog.
I cant believ ypu put this up by tourself. It was hard enough for 2 of us. Kudos to you
My wife has bought a pergola , and I said to her, is it higher than the outward opening French doors, she said WHAT no idea, so I did laugh when you mentioned that,
Extending the patio makes it aesthetically seamless with the house, like it was meant to be there. As always, an attention to detail with no corners being cut, a great job! Just as admirable is doing the whole job by yourself, when 1 or 2 extra pairs of hands would've made life much easier!
That suits the house really well and it's a good price too. I erected a wooden 3x3m Gazeebo a couple of years ago and it cost £1500 and a lot more work. The only thing that would stop me fitting one like that would be the racket when it rains, Like a tin roof and the worry of the mechanism failing due to water ingress over time.

Interesting. I'm thinking of building a pergola on my patio and thought the Aluminium one seemed expensive, but maybe not
