Hi! I'm Christine, a pathetically uncool but alarmingly passionate maker of things. Mostly journally things from actual books to vintage relics and replicas. Discover easy and fun techniques to help you create your own art books, junk journals and ephemera-plus who knows what else!-that evoke memory and hint of rich secret histories and mythic yet perhaps ordinary lives. I look forward to getting to share this journey with you.
Some of my videos are tutorials or flip-throughs for original journal and ephemera kits I design. If you're interested, you can find them here: sparkbirdstudios.etsy.com

Wow, your bread journal turned out awesome! It is so beautiful and so functional. I absolutely love this closure. I have those little closures, I think you called them bracelet closures, but I’ve never used them. Now I have a reason to.😂! Thanks for more fabulous inspiration! Hugs ❤️🤗
Beautiful journal. What kind of elastic are you using? Is it round or flat?
For this journal I used round. It's available on amazon in a variety of colors here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G3JDLTV/
Wow, this Bread Journal has turned out wonderfully! I love it - what a heirloom treasure to store all those happy bread recipes. I found the Bealtaine Bread recipe in 'The Bealtaine Cottage Guide to the Deep Midwinter' by Colette O'Neill who lives in Ireland. I'm going to try that toasting bread King Arthur recipe! I think baking bread connects us with all the generations and is a rite of mindful living and eating. You did a beautiful job with this and I love the closure! I've always wanted to learn how to make those rectangular word charms with glass - which are not technically "journal making" but maybe related enough to do a video about someday? :)
Fantastic 😊
Thankyou the best tutorial of a hidden paperclip 😊
𝚄𝚛 𝚟𝚒𝚍𝚜 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚊𝚖𝚊𝚣𝚒𝚗𝚐!! :>
can you tell me the name of the corner rounder please
Thanks for your content!
❤❤❤
These are fabulous! Would be a nice to make someone who is traveling across the US. Super cute! Hugs 🤗❤️
These are so nice! I love maps and it would be great to use a vintage map print on the back, too.
Totally! And Shhhhh... that's the next kit ;-)
I just found you and am now a new subscriber! We have a #scrappy8challenge and this months prompt is, from trash to treasure. I knew i was going to use soda cans and create jewelry and junk journal embellishments. So as i began creating and recording for my video, i decided to see what others have done- and this video popped up! I think i may try to recreate your vintage lady tag! Of course i am going to give you the credit ❤❤❤❤
Love these. You’ve done a lot of work!
Thank you Diana - I relly enjoyed it! So glad you like them.
Am I the only one who LOVES that her husband uses her creations? ❤❤❤ Sooo cool!
I love it too. :-)
Love these trouble is which kit to choose 3 granddaughters going abroad soon so perhaps the travel kit thank you so much for your inspiration 🦋
Why choose just one? LOL. But how lucky are you with three granddaughters and how lucky are they to get to travel!
Awww so sweet of you to send happy mail! I would love to get a little envelope of your treasures!
Yes, hard to choose which kit! But that birthday card with the purple flowers - violets? - sold me on the letter one. Love all the different parts of this kit and all the ways they can be used. Kudos!
Merci! And I am with you on that Birthday postcard. ALMOST kept it to myself.
Super easy, super cute! ❤️🤗
Just left your shop. Good Lord! I think that’s the most I’ve purchased from ONE shop at a time-your shop is like a lemonade stand on a sweltering day!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ You are incredibly gifted!
Well thank you! I hope I can offer you many glasses of refreshment in the years to come!
I love this collection of papers!
So glad Annette. They're among my favorites ever too
I thought watching this video would help me decide which one I want. But, they are all gorgeous. You really did a nice job with these kits! Hugs ❤️🤗
Thanks thank thanks T. So happy they speak to you...don't choose. That would be just wrong.
You always do this! Create fantastic kits that are just gorgeous and saves time! I am so far behind on my long list of projects, but I feel like I just NEED one of these (or all!). 😂 Thank you for continuing to inspire with every kit and every video! Hugs ❤️🤗
Right??? I’ll never catch up!
Catching up is over rated!
I do try to make projects that can be quickly completed for that very same reason. I will never catch up either. 💜 Plus I'm a little impatient myself...
Oh Wow. This is just beautiful, I love the scrappy wallpaper look and just so happens to be something that I was playing with myself. You have inspired me so much, Thank you.
You're so welcome Helen, thank you.
Gorgeous, I love it ❤
Love it! I plan to make it as a journal topper. 😊
That's a great idea Lois! We'd love to see that!
Genius!❤
Awww. Thank you. 💜
These look like so much fun to make and use! Thank you!
Seriously. They are Robyn. And they come together so fast...which when you have more projects than time-like everyone- is a real bonus.💜
Not even finished watching it, but I have to tell you my eyes are soaking in all the beauty and the playful flips, flaps, folds, and tuck spots. Absolutely gorgeous!
Merci Barbara! These kits are my new favorite thing. I hope they become yours too!
I live in the land of mold and mildew...GA. Now I have my brother look for the stuff in PA but he would NOT be happy if I cut up books which I do!! You got quite a nice haul. Look forward to seeing some in your shop.
Oh, that is unfortunate Lisa. But great to have your brother help. We won't let on about what you do with what he delivers...secret's safe here.
Hello, thanks so much for this info. What printer are you using please?
How did I miss this question? Sorry Barbra. I use a Canon TS9521C mostly and a Canon Pixma Pro 100. Both inkjet printers.
Wow, you scored!
Feels that way!
I freaking love you!! These are fantastic! I watched your video once, all the way through-then ran it in the background as I made mine! Fantastic! I’ve already made 25!! 😂
Hahah! Right Sandra?? It's like the crack of crafting. Once you get hooked...you don't want to know how many HUNDREDs I've made. Maybe even thousands - who can keep track! So glad you enjoy making them!
do the mini craft irons get hot enough to do the smaller edges?
I'm not sure. I've never used one but that's a great idea.
Amazing haul!
Those books are amazing. 💗
$14.00 for the whole lot!!! Wow did you hit the jackpot. I can’t wait to see what you do with everything. ❤
Me too. I just started planning the first project...
How fun! Everything is awesome. You showed much restraint, I’m not sure I could have. 😂 Those needlework magazines alone are just amazing. And those drawers are going to be wonderful storage for 12 x 12 papers. I’d say that you hit jackpot! And that cute little squirrel is the topper! 😂 hugs 🤗❤️🐿️
Seriously. You don't know how much more was in the original pile. But I sorted it down twice, largely because I had JUST cleaned out the studio so the lack of storage space was super fresh in my head. It was a challenge. And yes! The stapler is just awesome.
Wow!❤❤❤
How fun! Too many treasures to sort through. I would have been there all day! I know what you mean about just not having room to store everything!
It's probably how nature keeps us from owning everything we see, Or, turns us into hoarders. I think maybe paper crafters have that in their DNA.
Christine, boy did you do well with your vintage finds. I hope you will share the metal drawer paper holder once you give it a much needed face lift/new life. Hugs and stay well.
I'm still unsure about how to re-finish that little gem. Right after I bought it a gentleman who had left the sale came back looking for it and offered me $25 for it. (I paid $4) I'm glad I kept it.
omg I love those finds! I can't wait for you to peruse and scan some of those goodies! Awesome stuff! All right up my alley. I know what you are saying about full-to-the-brim of studio stuff. I was trying to reorganize my paper journaling stash yesterday and filled my 8-foot dining table high with mostly paper etc. etc. etc. My motto for the rest of the house is "One in/One Out" but the paper supplies have gone berserk! I find I can't even work on journaling at this point because it's all too jumbled. So, little by little, I am trying to regroup and organize and finally use some of this huge backlog. Of course, it doesn't help that I just love making ephemera and not the journals to put it in! lol Anyway, great haul and thank you for what you just sent, that I love a lot! :)
Yeah, we've got to get you over to the book side more often. Thought even that won't use up nearly enough paper to dent most stashes...
That stapler is just the cutest sweetest desk accessory ever!
Right??? I 💜 it.
I love the metal chest! And what a find with the film strips inside!
Hey Robyn, I still am hoping to contact you about your creations. Is that possible?
I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate the filmstrips in a project - some of the titles and artwork is just hilarious...
Came to watch you from Edith’s channel.
Welcome! 💜
Oooh, I was just thinking about trying to do the smaller sized paper clips! They are so cute!!
Yes, the little ones definitely have their charm
I was doing tins today and was wondering what I could use to seal......so glad I came across your videos.....THANKS SO MUCH....got your digitals also.....yeah.....vivian
You're so welcome. There's a second concoction I landed on at the end of this video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6N716mDpbmfpco.html Might be worth having a look.
If to double up your number of clips, 2 close together for each tab, the tabs will be better and have more grip.
Hmm. I'll have to give that a go. Thanks!
Your cousin is going to love this awesome memory book you made her Christine! The scanned photos and beautiful papers, pockets and oopsies are wonderfully made with so much love. ❤
What a genius idea!!! I have to get some pretty papers and try this technique. I really like the inward corner on the last hidden paperclip, so I’m going to have to find the chopper you used too. I’m only a few months into making junk journals, and just found you today. Im a happy girl. I’m so glad. Thanks for the great tutorial!❤
You are so welcome! And welcome to the crazy crafting ward. Once you get in you never really get out! Happy creating!
Love these folders! Can't wait to use them and your tips!
