Right? Just make sure you have thr right kind of velvet. Some of the modern bought fabrics don't hold the impression. If you're a thrifter or tag-saler look for old dresses.

Put the velvet *face up* on a spongy type mat. Place the thing *face down* on the velvet. Cover it with that paper or the silicon mat. PRESS the iron FIRMLY onto the paper/silicon piece, that is covering what you're tying to make a mark with. I think that will work.
