    This fellow has never read Genesis 2:7, life begins when the newborn takes its first breath. That’s the only place in scripture where the beginning of soul life is explained. The only place.

    Fr. Marty Smith, I think you missed the core 'sin' element. If the gambling is truely for entertainment - that is, the players are participating purely for entertainment (and that's an introspective personal assessment question requiring humility to get at the truth) - then they are essentially _paying_ for the entertainment and maybe hoping the odds will help them get a good price for it.....BUT is it a truely _constructive_ form of entertainment? Free of greed or 'thrills' associated with money & risk? Those are all self-assessment questions. HOWEVER, if it's _not_ purely about entertainment, then the core 'sin' - or 'being off-target from God's principles for just [economic] behavior' - is that human effort (work) is being expended on a scheme to _take_ - not trade - value from others. Essentially, it is a bunch of effort being expended for an unjust transaction; money or something else (representing tangible value), is being _taken_ in exchange for _zero_ value-added. That is, the person trying to gamble for a living, is expending much human time & effort (consuming food, drink, and energy), but producing no _new_ value of their own to share with the community or trade in exchange; instead, they have only consumed and taken value from others (if they are a worldly 'successful' gambler). There is a very well done, true-story documentary about a blackjack team of almost all Christians, called "Holy Rollers" (now free on KZread, I think). The documentary does not draw a conclusion, but leaves it as a discussion exercise for the viewers. I'll suggest that those Christians who eventually left, finally concluded that much effort was being expended in an industry that is not contributing net positively to the community of mankind & the Kingdom of God.

    We definitely need more priests, and we appreciate their work for us. This priest should know that the faithful are not looking for experiments but for priests to arrive on time for confession, or even better, be available at the confessional for more hours. Its easy to include in the famous bulletin, that they are available by appointment. Get rid of the know it all secretaries in their offices, and really take charge of actually being the ones receiving people who stop by. By the way, faculty in colleges have an "open door" policy for any and all students to come in and ask any question at any time they are there. Why should be be filtered by secretaries? Just like the current politics which loves "big government", parishes love "big parishes". Stop thinking that all you need to do is shake hands and wish a happy Sunday at the end of every H Mass. Actually stop and visit people and families in their homes. Of course you can find time. Stop playing around with bergoglian "experiments".

    Birth rates are lower because it takes two incomes to support a family and very few women want 10 or 12 kids anymore. My two sisters in law had 10 and 12 kids. None went to college, several dropped out of HS to get jobs. Contraception has been part of women’s lives for millennia. No wonder people are leaving the church in droves.

    @@nbenefiel I don't have kids and I never will, but I think we should focus on making the world a safe place for the new generation; such as school funding, medical support, making sure they're never hungry or homeless, etc. Also, women aren't wanting to have kids if they don't feel they can get help safely if something goes wrong. There's thousands of children in the foster system, why focus on bringing in new ones? A system that relies on constant growth no matter what the population and world is going through is doomed to fail.

  • @nbenefiel
    @nbenefiel2 күн бұрын

    @@Anuyushi I agree. The planet is full to bursting. Climate change is limiting the ability to grow food and we are losing livable land. The idea of going back to families of 10 or 12 kids is ridiculous.

  • @Anuyushi
    @Anuyushi2 күн бұрын

    @@nbenefiel Absolutely! I'm not against families with large kids at all, but the world at the moment just can't sustain it. I live in a very rustic quiet town and I still couldn't move out at 18. I was able to move out of my parent's home when I was 23, moving to a shoddy apartment with a roommate because even an apartment costs more than what minimum wage gives in a month. It's not fair for new generations to wonder where their food is coming from or if they can start their own families or build a home, but it's where are right now.

    I know my nieces and nephews all use artificial contraception. Their reasoning is that they can't afford more than 2 kids. However, I think it has to do with how they choose to spend their money. Two cars ( we got by with one) Each child has to have their own bedroom ( my sisters and brothers shared rooms.) They don't wear second-hand clothes, they have to have new ones. When we went to see Santa, we would ask for whatever toy was popular at the time, but we got what our parents could afford. We were always happy with what we got. Now, kids have to have exactly what they asked for. Parents aren't setting an example anymore. We give kids whatever they want want whenever they want it and then wonder why they grow up the way they do. They'll always be in debt because they have to have it now. Oh, they go to church but no longer see sacrifice and patience. They donate less to the church to have more for themselves. This will not get better until God is placed at the head of the family. Sorry for the rant. I just see too many of my family going down the wrong road. Love and prayers 🙏 Jan

    Thank you for the video Bishop! I pray God continues to bless you. This video appeared on my feed as soon as I started to read my copy of “Humanae Vitae”. I’m a new convert coming in from a Protestant, independent Baptist, background. I start RCIA in September and I’ve dove head first into researching and studying the faith in preparation. I’m frankly struggling with the Church’s teaching on contraceptives. I’m open to learn and understand which is why I bought a copy of the literature. My journey toward Catholicism has been message after message delivered by the Holy Ghost. It sounds like God has another message for me, and I need to listen. Y’all pray for me. 🙏🏾 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen!

    Your excellency, if I may be so bold as to play devil’s advocate for a moment. As a Brit, I am not intimately acquainted with the detail of this incident; however, I am aware of the ongoing and overarching debate in your Country concerning the sanctity of Life. If life has taught me anything, it is not to rush to judgement… indeed, better yet, to try not to judge at all, since this is the preserve of our Heavenly Father, who of course knows everything, including our innermost selves. In President Biden, I potentially see a man weighed down by the experiences of life, struggling to reconcile his faith with his role in public office, navigating an increasingly secular and polarised society, fueled by an internet that, for all its benefits, promotes intolerance and acrimony. We can, all of us, only aspire to have the clarity of Faith, strength of character and sense of purpose of St Thomas More, the great stateman under King Henry VIIth, who was martyred for standing up for what is right, rather than swaying with popular opinion. Rather than President Biden’s making the sign of the cross being an act of sacrilege then, might I suggest he could simply be acknowledging his our weakness and need of God’s grace and mercy, as should we all.
