‘God bless Harrison Butker for speaking the truth’

Ойын-сауық

We should not be surprised that the secular world hates us for our Christian beliefs. Jesus told His disciples, “If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first” (John 15:18). As Butker reminded his listeners, “Our Catholic faith has always been countercultural. Our Lord, along with countless followers, were all put to death for their adherence to her teachings. The world around us says that we should keep our beliefs to ourselves whenever they go against the tyranny of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We fear speaking truth, because now, unfortunately, truth is in the minority.” God bless Harrison Butker for speaking the truth. May we all take encouragement from his courage to stand up for what is right and speak up for what is true.

PREACH IT, Your Excellency! How wonderful to see a Catholic bishop steadfastly defending a Catholic public figure for speaking the truth! 👏👏👏 for you, Archbishop Cordileone, and Bishop Strickland, and apologies to any bishop I might have overlooked who has also voiced support! As successors of the Twelve Apostles, your divinely endowed power and authority is an even bigger threat to the forces of evil than that of any layperson. Your moral support is essential for brave souls like HB to continue speaking truth to power, so please don't be intimidated by those who will slam you for public supporting what is right and just. Please don't back down! Hold the line! My fellow Catholics: Please remember to pray daily for all Catholic clergy and religious. And pray for HB and his family, and that his example will encourage many more to pursue what is good, true, and beautiful!

Bishop Paprocki is emerging as one of the brave, truthful bishops we need so much in our country today. God bless him! Though I was not born in Illinois, I grew up there and consider it my home state, so I am proud that it is an Illinois bishop who is now stepping up to the plate to do a job that needs doing, especially when we previously had only Cupich representing us on a national scale as Illinoisans. I pray Bishop Paprocki keeps speaking out and standing up for what is right, with honor and fidelity to Catholic teaching.

Thank you Bishop Paprocki for reaffirming what is important, essential about the Catholic Church and Harrison Butker's right and duty to highlight his stance on being Catholic, his family, wife and vocations in general. My vocation was to be married AND have 2 children AND work AND wholeheartedly practice my Catholic faith AND do my best to illustrate my values by my actions. Oh how lucky I am to have the freedom to express my view. God is good!!

They filled our hearts with love of You, and with their words helped us to come follow You. Thank you Bishop for speaking out with courage. The NFL did not need to come out and say they did not support Butker's views because we already knew that. For countless decades they have known about football players who beat their wives, beat their girlfriends, engaged in sexual assault or committed rape, but the NFL turned a blind eye to it or gave out light penalties. They did not show concern about it until public outcry became loud enough and the issue became a public relations problem. Thus, we should not be the least bit surprised when they were completely reviled to hear an NFL player express his deep love for his wife. I do not know about anyone else, but I am turning off the NFL until they offer an apology to Harrison and begin to show respect to women and men who do the right thing and I hope you join me. How can anyone in good conscience financially support such a reprehensible and despicable organization?

Bishop Paprocki stands for Harrison Butker because the Catholic Church stands for the ideals of its founder, Jesus Christ. To present with anything less than that in a commencement would be shortchanging the occasion. As a Religious woman for the past 75 years I have witnessed the liberal approach decimate the values of our founding fathers with philosophies such as .”we won’t go back” to put a defensive position on what has made us great as a nation and even apologize for the ideals that need to be restored. Thank you Bishop Paprocki and thank you Harrison Butker! All lesser considerations please submit. or the allowance of our founding fathers

Ok, his personal views and his personal opinion on how he and his wife live. Good for them. I would gather most of us have our own personal views and opinions on how we live our lives with our significant other, be that our spouses, husband, or partners. His life with his wife is not the gold standard because all of us live life with different circumstances and different challenges. His opinion seems to me, promotes laziness and entitlement. All of us whether single or in a committed relationship, have an obligation and responsibility to contribute to the greater society at large as well as both partners working together as homemaker for the greater good of our home life and the raising of our children. This responsibility is not only left to the spouse but the husband has equal responsibility to meet this great obligations.

God Bless Butker and his courage to tell the truth about Bishops and Priest. How far the country has strayed from it's Judeo Christian roots ? Butker's, Criticism of Bishops and priest was the truth - and this Bishop could not go without using it as a opportunity to bash the LBGQT community, - the Bishop says it although Butker didn't mention it, this arrogant Bishop is not going to let it go "Unmentioned" this Bishop's hate of the LBGQT community - which make Butker's speech even more spot on on his assessment of Catholic Bishops and Priest and their inability to teach and be purveyors of the mercy of Christ and his church. So Bishop ? Just who is my neighbor ? Why does the world hate the Catholic church ? Everytime I invite someone to church I most always get, "I'm not going to a church that allows priest to sexually abuse children". So while the Bishop uses Butker's speech to bolster himself, neither does he exhibit any humility that I saw, - what I saw and heard, only using it as a chance to marginalize those in most need mercy. What good did this six minute or so speech do? Are those that oppose the church or those in most need of mercy going to come this Sunday to mass ? In the game of football there are the two opposing teams that take the field. The home team and the visiting team. Then there is a third team that takes the field, these are the officials. Now, the officials are on the field but they are not of the field. - they are not in favor of either team - neither do that speak in favor of or in opposition to the teams, - these officials do not get caught up in the noise or the chaos - they have been given a special book to rule by a God called the NFL, they have been trained and know the book by heart in order to serve as an official on the field. God bless the officials

So as Christians, what does the gospel say, "what are we called to do ?". According to Matthew 28, we are called to go out into the world, - what world ? The world in which we live, full of people such as the LBGQT community, the democrats, the republicans, Biden supporters, Trump supporters. - Matthew 28 "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." - Christ told them to do this until the end - the end of the age Christ taught in parables. in Luke's gospel, (14: 12 - 14) , Christ turns to the host of a dinner party who had invited his friends, the wealthy, his neighbors, relatives and those of outstanding in the community - Christ turns and looks at him and tells the host of the dinner party, - Christ says, - " don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward. Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you " - please pray for the Bishop, and our Pope Francis and our church, and for myself and for the rest of the "world" -

Butker is a radical traditionalist, Your Excellency. In his full 20 minute speech, which you can find at the KZread channel of Benedictine College, he openly criticized the Church's doctrine on birth control called Natural Family Planning (first promulgated by Pope St Paul VI) by literally saying the following, from 14:24 to 14:48… “It is imperative that this class, this generation, and this time in our society must stop pretending that the things we see around us are normal. Heterodox ideas abound, EVEN IN CATHOLIC CIRCLES. So let’s be honest, there is nothing good about playing God with having children. Whether that be your ideal number or the perfect time to conceive. NO MATTER HOW YOU SPIN IT, THERE IS NOTHING NATURAL ABOUT CATHOLIC BIRTH CONTROL". End quote. I have faithfully reproduced his exact words, in full context, without gaps. You can go watch it yourself. He even extolled the Traditional Latin Mass for forming his faith, as if Holy Mother Church which gave us the TLM cannot be counted on to form our faith any longer. Btw, i was a rad-trad until Oct last year 2023 when Our Lady broke me out of the schismatic SSPX international movement here in South Africa. So im not judging, but just pointing out the gravity of the situation.

Here's all you need to know: 1 Timothy 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of Godliness: GOD (GOD the FATHER) was manifest in the flesh (GOD the SON), justified in the Spirit (GOD the HOLY SPIRIT), seen of angels (messengers), preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world (by grace alone through faith alone), received up into glory (raised from the dead and sat down on the right hand of GOD). All the above meaning: Hebrews 10:12 KJV "But this MAN (JESUS CHRIST), after "HE had offered ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS FOREVER" sat down on the right hand of GOD" 14 For by ONE OFFERING (CHRIST shedding HIS real blood and giving HIS real body on a real cross) HE has PERFECTED FOREVER (saved) them that are sanctified" (forgiven of all sins) 18 Now where remission of these (sins) is, "there is NO MORE OFFERING FOR SIN"

I appreciate most of what he said, but it was hard to interpret parts of his speech as anything but against Catholic teaching. He seemed to condemn NFP, and say that the TLM (opposed to the Novus Ordo) is the way in which God wants to be worshipped. Bishop Paprocki, it would be appreciated if you could add some comments on those parts of the speech as well, lest we pretend it was a perfect representation of the Catholic faith.

Yeah I mistyped, I did not mean to imply that the TLM is opposed to the NO. I mean to say he was saying God wanted to be worshiped through the TLM AS opposed to the NO. I think it’s great that people love the TLM. But he said, “ I’ve been very vocal in my love and devotion to the TLM and its necessity for our lives. But what I think gets misunderstood is that people who attend the TLM do so out of pride or preference. I can speak to my own experience, but for most people I have come across within these communities this simply is not true. I do not attend the TLM because I think I am better than others, or for the smells and bells, or even for the love of Latin. I attend the TLM because I believe, just as the God of the Old Testament was pretty particular in how he wanted to be worshipped, the same holds true for us today.” He went on to say, “The TLM is so essential that I would challenge each of you to pick a place to move where it is readily available. A lot of people have complaints about the parish or the community, but we should not sacrifice the Mass for community. I prioritize the TLM even if the parish isn’t beautiful, the priest isn’t great, or the community isn’t amazing. I still go to the TLM because I believe the holy sacrifice of the Mass is more important than anything else.” As if the holy sacrifice of the mass isn’t happening in non-TLM masses? That’s a weird thing to say. I just think having clarity around those parts would be good!

The Catholic sisters of Mount St. Scholastica, a founding institution and sponsor of Benedictine College, had this to say about Butker's speech: "Instead of promoting unity in our church, our nation, and the world, his comments seem to have fostered division. One of our concerns was the assertion that being a homemaker is the highest calling for a woman. We sisters have dedicated our lives to God and God's people, including the many women whom we have taught and influenced during the past 160 years. These women have made a tremendous difference in the world in their roles as wives and mothers and through their God-given gifts in leadership, scholarship, and their careers...We reject a narrow definition of what it means to be Catholic." Even Swifties -- fans of pop singer Taylor Swift -- got into the act, flooding social media with angry comments after learning that Butker quoted one of her songs during his blatantly sexist remarks. But Butker is finding allies on the far right. Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley -- a member of our Christian-nationalist False Prophets list who supported the January 6 insurrection -- defended Butker, saying that he thinks Butker was right about "not being too nice when you're standing up for your convictions." LGBTQ people and women are made in the image of God, and deserve to celebrate important moments in their lives without being insulted and judged -- and without having their own faith twisted and thrown back in their faces. Let's tell Butker that as his fellow Christians, we would prefer it if he would keep his needlessly hurtful "convictions" to himself. Thank you for everything you do to love your neighbor, no matter what -- and congratulations to the women, LGTBQ folks, and everyone else celebrating their graduation this month! In peace, - Karli, Rev. Nathan, Rev. Hunter, and the Faithful America team "A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit." - Proverbs 15:4 Repent the little horn Trump!
