    How did this saw home up over the years?

  • @Jethrosgarage
    @Jethrosgarage12 күн бұрын

    I use it from time to time as I have a lot of other saws but considering the cylinder looks like hell it still has decent power and compression. Like all my old saws I'm sure it could use fresh crankshaft seals.

    the boat is from a 2 piece mold if you need to replace the flotation foam remove the black rub rail then the aluminum trim then you can separate the iner shell from the outer one then you can remove the old foam reassemble use a hole saw cut holes on inner hull add correct type foam when full put the plugs back in place using fiberglass repair kit and paint over this and your done .I was one of the original workers for Truline boats .

    @@marksmanmatthew6322 Im glad i could help you .I had no fixd job there I did all the wiring for the first factory I went to all the boat shows as a sales person ,I would take older models and modify them like stretch them and widen them to use as plugs to make new molds for new models I was the truck driver to take the boats to shows and dealer deliveries .I was the one that came up with the name sun runner for the cabin cruiser .which was an older mold for the Bayliner company .The owners of witch i also knew .

    Worked out awesome, I didn't have to unload it in my yard and re load it nor cut it up in tiny bits with a chain saw and put it in the trash bin a little at a time! Local transfer station will NOT take fiberglass boats.

    I have an over heat issue as well. Changed pump and just got new thermostats which looked like a bomb went off in them completely full of sand like cement I fear this is the next step. Was it relatively straightforward did you sand it down before the new gasket was placed and did you use sealer?

  • @Jethrosgarage
    @Jethrosgarage2 ай бұрын

    Are you still experiencing issues? As far as sealer, no- I used light emery paper making sure to not stay in one place and create a low spot on both heads and block. My biggest issue was this mill ate salt water most of it's life and I had to deal with a broken off head bolt and getting it out etc. which was WHY I did everything but pull the heads as a last resort.

I got a dozen dead pines for us to tackle out at my new mini ranch. Im thinkin two 14 inch poulans, couple old grey beard vintage sledders, a case of beer, and one charged cell phone to dial 911........ya know, just in case ! Dont worry......tall ones are maybe 70 footers. How much damage could they do ?

    Not good firewood, sort of like burning a wet rotted sponge, I dragged it about 100 ft away with the truck. It's DOT property, could have called them to remove it but would have been 10 calls and a year, I just took care of it myself before it came over my fence.

    One thing I don’t like about these saws is they suck in saw dust around that cover. Appareny at one time they came with a gasket under that cover.

    I put a hundred or so trouble free miles on it in seasons since, last year it blew a head gasket when I went to put it in the shed to leave after a trip. Found you need to re torque heads after a heat cycle or two, they really loosened up. Fresh gasket and she's waiting on my trip this winter. It was a $175 machine 17 years ago. :)

    Hello there I am commenting about the colour of the the 8N only to let you know that it looks White on the video and the original Ford Grey is actually a little more Sandy coloured so if you are thinking of repainting it at some point you might want to look into that original Ford Grey I think Dennis Carpenter tractor restoration parts sells the paint. Having said that your tractor does look very good and I don’t want to be a know it all ! I hate when people comment only to try to look smart or to belittle someone that is not my end game you’re a smart articulate person and I enjoyed the video and the rear axle seals and the steering sector seals always want to leak but don’t let any one tell you that those leaks can’t be fixed they can but you have to follow each step in the I&T shop manual it’s an excellent asset to have And both Steiner Tractor parts and Dennis Carpenter tractor restoration parts will send you a parts catalog for free and it’s great for pricing parts. And I think that your Dad must really love you in order to will you that really cool and handy antique tractor Keep that old iron running my friend!😀🇨🇦

    Thank you for the kind words! I'm actually fine with the bodywork and paint being a bit rough, because I actually used that tractor and such like it was intended to be. I had purchased a John Deere Gator with a dump bed for good price and surprised him with shortly after he bought that tractor, after which he gave me the tractor. As he got older and his mobility got worse the gator worked perfectly for him. I definitely need to do those axle seals, and clean the brakes up so they will work.! I did not mention it in the video, but you can hear an exhaust leak. The manifold is warped, I need to remove it and have it milled if possible or replace it. Other than that she's a good ol tractor. 😎
