Craftsman oilless air compressor rehab- why did I wait so long?

Just the results of half and hour and $75 of my money made it like new again.

I have the horizontal version of this and bought it around the same time and also replaced those parts so I can definitely vouch for how of an improvement it makes. I'll never buy another oilless compressor, though. The non-oilless ones are so much quieter. A filter is all you need to prevent oil in your paint.

Yep I had no 220 at the time and it was the biggest tank 120 volt I could find and I think it was on sale for like $369.00 or something (back when Sears had a big store at the mall!) and I have used and abused it. Painted an '88 Mustang hatchback, a '91 Le Baron convertible, a '69 Ski Doo snowmobile (all chassis and fiberglass parts) and a 1969 Glasspar runabout (boat) doing all the sanding, grinding, priming and prep work on those projects with this thing screaming away. Right in the manual it says to not exceed 50% duty cycle or half an hour of each hour so it's done it's duty for sure over the years! I also use it on a Cut 40 plasma torch for the air as well. Yep one day I'll get a 220 60 gallon unit but I'll keep this as it's portable.
