I love the challenge of street photography and have always been passionate about landscape photography. Welcome to my photography channel, its not really gear review or top tips based, but I do hope to share all the information with you I can, and maybe squeeze in a few tips and reviews along the way! Especially if you shoot Fujifilm and Nikon :-)
Based in beautiful South Wales, UK I hope to see and capture as much of its beauty as I can, also travelling around Europe.
I hope you enjoy my channel be it for street photography or landscape photography.
Feel free to contact me for workshops or projects.
Gareth :-)

I thought it was ironic the sign said cruelty free with an image of a rabbit beside what looked like a gun shot to the glass in the door.
Which part makes it violent exactly ? ,,, Mayhem in the moment maybe..and some crowd surfing.
u know ive heard this 'there has to be a point to your photographs' in an annoying limey accent my whole life, but no one has ever really proved that to me. ive taken plenty of shity fotos of things that are meaning full to me, things that are not, and ive taken quite a few great fotos of things i don't really have a conection to, a point to photograph. to be honest, i think it is all just random. yrears of art degrees, time fotographing. u just point a box at something, hit a button, and hope for the best. i guess if it aint working u can make a utube vid about it.
Does it support cfexpress type B card?
I love street photography and I am also a concert photographer. Lately I am using auto iso in the M setting. As long as the exposure and shutter speed are set correctly, it hardly matters anymore how high your ISO is. I also often get away with photos of ISO 12,500. I shoot Sony for my concert photography and use Fuji for my travel and street photography.
Fujifilm 18mm F2 and the 50mmF2 are my street/travel favorites
Cracking video
such a creative approach! thanks for featuring him, now I have a workshop booked for my upcoming London trip 🎉
Well done . You explained this perfectly.
Was really good to see an 85mm at work on the street.
Fantastic I love how he thinks around the street
For the compressed vs lossless compressed, speaking for the x t 30 ii, (my recently aquired xpro2 doesnt have lossy): i dont use fuji for high end editing studio/session work, but I do edit a lot some of my shots, including pushing shadows, dodge&burning, etc... most of the time with high iso's, and to be honest, cant see a difference at all. But then again, i dont use this kit for extreme color or sharpenning treatment
Great video Gareth. I’ve only got a normal iPhone 15 but with 48mp I can overcome the crop issue. I’ll be taking it to London next Sunday for a 3 day solo photo shoot. I am wondering what case that is you have as I couldn’t see it listed. Also, it seems that with burst mode, the camera doesn’t focus for every shot, only the first which is a real bugbear. Ps- great images and I especially loved the abstract car type shot.
I can only agree with you. It's good that they came to these insights at such a young age.
18-50mm APSC is equivalent to 27-82.5mm in full frame ! 18mm PSC eq 27mm FF. You do not need "everything" to be sharp, just get the focus at the point you think is the most interest. I have done "street" photography since 1979, at that time it was not called "street" photography. There is really no right or wrong prime Lens for "street" photography, that said, for me 28mm and 50mm full frame prime lenses always feels either too short or too long, so for med 28 and 50mm lenses does not work for any kind of photography in full frame. The prime Lenses that I use are 14, 21, 24, 35, 55, 65, 85, 110 and 135mm Lenses. I can go with just one Camera and one Lens, then I will say that a 35mm have a "sweet spot" for "everything", but I have also used just 14, 24, 55, 60 and 65mm prime Lenses as a single prime Lens. Now I most often use two Cameras with two or three Lenses, a wide angle Lens on one Camera and a short tele on the other Camera, I carry always one Camera in my hand and the other in a small shoulder/sling bag. the last 3 times I did "street" photography was the set 21 and 55mm, 14, 35 and 85, 35 and 85mm Lenses, I use 61 megapixels Cameras, so sometimes I use APSC mode with 26 megapixels which often is enough, so I see my two Cameras as four Cameras and two Lenses as four Lenses.
You should head to Ashbourne, Derbyshire during Shrovetide, you'll get some great photos.
Wow, eduardo is a master, this was such a fantastic glimpse into his mindset. So nice to get away from all the “street photography” cliche on KZread 😊 exciting
God, those photos are amazing! Are these SOOC?
Thanks so much for the kind feedback.. i dont do much editing.
I love my 18-55mm and never will change it. The 18-55mm is not a kit lens, it's a very good quality all-round lens. This pixel peaker search is nonsense.
very Saul Leiter style.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, mate. Not only do I admire your photography, but I love watching your interactions with the people that you photograph. I'm glad that you were able to find the photos for that lady's family after she passed, to have as a keepsake. That was a lovely story. Keep on sharing. I always look forward to your videos. Cheers from Sydney, Australia.
I enjoy roaming the streets and documenting with grace. Not a fan of photographers getting up close to someone's personal space.
Oh man, I randomly got 5 days off work now and I decided not to go on a hike, even though it's a good weather window, cause I felt like with my tent and bigger bag, I'll be slow and struggle to pitch a tent since it's climbing or down hill, one lake where I planned to pitch tent but I don't know how soaked the ground is in late may Here in Norway. I decided not to to go, and to order a bivy, as well as walking poles that I haven't used up until now, but your video made me realize a bivy won't solve all my problems lol. Thank you for the good content!
Stumbled on this - my hometown
Great video as always you definitely have some great shots. I’m curious can you make a living with street photography?
Hi, how does Lightroom handle the files of the XT5 and XT3? Thank you
Always enjoy your videos, Gareth, thank you! Your enthusiasm is inspiring and hugely infectious!
I've only been following you for a few months, but I think this is probably your most inspirational video that I've seen. "Unless you're really good and come back with ten images..." - That statement, right there has lifted my spirits like you wouldn't believe. I've long had an interest in street photography but only this year have I done anything about it. I bought an OM System TG7 - which is a great little camera, but has its limitations. In hindsight I wish I'd gone for something like a Fujifilm, but that in itself I take as a positive because it has made me work harder to get a decent image. Since beginning street photography I find myself looking for images wherever I go, it really has kick-started my imagination and helped my creativity. I'm thinking of pitching my images to bloggers, vloggers and content writers. I have set up a page on Picfair for them to download - do you have any tips as to whether this is worthwhile? Sorry to hear things have been stressful for you, like everything in life, this too shall pass. Thanks again, Gareth. I shall be downloading your zine later today.
Love Eduardo’s respect for his photo subjects so much. These are your most enduring videos Gareth.
Great video. I've been trying a bit more street photography myself when I get chance and enjoying the journey. a long way to go, but good fun. I met a chap the other day having asked to take his photo when stood on a barge and thought that would make an interesting photo. We had a ten minute chat as he was on holiday from Texas. Would never had spoken if not wanting to take some street photos.
To me the reason to get both 27mm and 75mm 1.2 is a dream come true because I was a medium format photographer for years and these are the only lenses that provide the same look on a smaller sensor. Obviously it isn’t meant to track moving subjects but these are excellent primes for portraits, journalism, concerts, and art photography
Really interesting and enjoyable, mate. Since we have similar gear, good to know I’m not completely out of whack when it comes to setup! Plus I picked up the f8 bargain bundle just now. Looks really good 🙂👍
Hey dude how are you. Thanks so much for the support mate. I hope you enjoy the zine. Let me know if it can be improved. What gear do we have that’s similar?
@@GarethDanks No problem at all. I'm sporting a Q3 for general work these days, but still using M4/3 for the landscapes 😊👍
Love those human stories and memories, keep up the street photography videos Gareth!!
Thanks so much mate.
Street photography actually helped me with shooting wedding photography.
Definitely does. Thanks
A lot of great reasons there mate. Awesome to hear the positive comments from those old photos, albeit under sad circumstances. Just purchased your zine and looking forward to a flick through
Hey man. Thanks so much. Really kind. Hope we can do a shoot together soon
@@GarethDanks Yes mate - try and give me more than a couple of hours notice haha! be good to get out and shoot with ya
Another interesting, informative, & fun video Gareth.
Thanks so much mate. Kind of you
You could get a second job as an auctioneer, you go so fast!! Sheesh man.... Nah, I just bailed out on this video, because I couldn't keep up. Sorry.....
Sorry for that. A lot to go through. Assumed people might pause if needed.
You truly encapsulated the phrase "letting steam off".
I have found in 9 years of landscape photography that not only the improvement in the images, but your editing skills also evolve over time. I look back at old images and think really. I shoot landscapes now, more with prime lenses and I feel it has improved my composition skills no end. Set yourself a challenge to set your zoom lens, if no prime, to 1 focal length. Photography for me is a realease from the daily stresses of life. Get behind the lens and loose all concept of time. Bliss. Thank you Gareth for all you do to inspire people to get out there with camera in hand what ever the genre.
Hey thanks so much Nicky. One of the nicest comments I’ve had from you. Hope your well
Nice one Gareth! I've massively fallen out of the street photography habit, but everything you've said in this video is relevant. Reminds me why I bloody love street. Better get back out there
Hey rob. Sorry to hear that dude. Give me a shout sometime m. Be good to catch up
Sorry you had a shite week. Always appreciate your vids.
Thanks so much mate. Yeah very tough atm.
Always voided doing local photography. Might have given me a little nudge to go down my local mundane town centre in Swansea.
Ah nice you live in swansea? That’s a hard one! I’d get on the train to Bristol mate
@@GarethDanks thats undoubtedly a good idea!
Wow. Not secretly sponsored video! Everyone are saying that autofocus is now good and almost in the same class as Canon...
Absolute nonsense. Fuji seriously needs to up their game. Afs is ok. Afc isn’t even close to my Sony
Street photography is so important! in years to come the most important pictures are the real scenes that we all see in the streets, Nice one Gareth you spoke a lot of sense in this video...Thank you!
Hey Des mate. Hope you’re well. Don’t confuse street photography and documentary tho. But you are right.
wow. the black and white captured the atmosphere. great stuff!, inspiring!!
Thank you mate.
Well done! Sold me on giving street photography a try.
You should! Appreciate you watching mate
Great video - Tenby is beautiful and not that far away from us either. I'm so lucky with my job being a Tour driver as I'm constantly travelling and hitting different locations 👌
I love Tenby. Especially in good light. Good luck
I burned two rolls of Portra 400 last time i was in Tenby. Absolutely love it there
Haha. That means you had a great day then. Hope you got some good shots.
@@GarethDanks oh indeed
Great thoughts!
Big Shirl! Such a lovely Tenby character Gareth! So important to have those moments! Glad the family managed to get hold of you! I had a similar moment from doing Street portraits in Tenby! Captured a mums daughter a few years back who sadly died around COVID time and had the opportunity to give away a framed photo to her mum. A very emotional moment! Keep up the great work and videos mate!
Wow. Sorry to hear that. Thanks for watching
