The libras should not be compared to the kindle pw... it should be the oasis
Sooo the basic one is a good option, or the paperwhite if your budget is a little higher
The whole not buying from Jeff Bezos thing is the best feature of this reader. Here in Germany you can just connect your local book shop with your Pocket reader and buy your ebooks local. Also you can use the reader to get books from libraries. (kindle does not support this). Sadly there are no Booksstores in the US that support pocketbook. So you just have a reader that you can load any book from any store on and that does not try to lock you into a big company. Very helpful video. You are brilliant.

I love my little Libra 2 and I don't see any reason to upgrade to the colour. Hopefully we can get an updated B&W Libra 3 sometime soon

I've been agonizing over which one I should get all week, sifting through years of e-reader jargon, weighing pros and cons, and if I need Android. It's really simple, this one is for reading books. All these other big e-reader reviewers are hyper focused on the technology and the colors, and you're out here reminding people that it is merely a tool. Thank you for helping me decide to get this one.

I honestly tried many ebook readers and the Kobo was the best so far but in the end I got tired of all the limitations of the ebook readers. Like I mostly buy my books from 3rd party platforms and either I have to remove the DRM because it‘s unsupported on certain platforms or the file format is unsupported. When it comes to Kindle, I also really hate the monopoly of Amazon. Gosh, I bought a book in Poland that was quite good but as soon as I traveled back to Germany, the book wasn‘t available anymore. So, in the end I ended up using Moon+ Reader Pro, I can pirate the books that are censored in my country and since I‘m part of a private book torrent index community with a book club, I can easily just use my 2024 iPad Pro and a UGreen USB C to HDMI capture card and stream the Samsung DEX interface with Moon+ Reader Pro to Discord chat of that community. And honestly I love that community. When the publisher only publishes on Amazon and you only can buy or rent a license to read the book, I would never buy it from Amazon since the license doesn‘t give you a full ownership of that book like it would be if you would buy it from 3rd party platform. That‘s why I rather pirate the book if it‘s not available on any other ebook stores. I mean, it‘s not so difficult to publish a book on other platform and I would gladly pay the higher price than buying it off from Amazon. Once I even bought a book called Fortune 69 by David Heath that was 7$ more expensive than on Amazon just to get full ownership of that book 😂 If you have a Samsung device with OLED, AMOLED display, you can activate the black/white filter in the accessibility settings and it‘ll save your battery. In the end if you want a separate device, get either a Kobo or if you‘re on the budget, get a Sony reader which can be upgraded with a Li-Ion battery from eBay since it uses standard 2pin connector and since it runs on Android, you can add up to 128gb MicroSD card or sideload ebook reader apps through adb by activating USB Debugging in the developer settings (tap 7 times in device info section on the Build Number) In the end I can only say that
Thank you for a decent review, so much hype and snooby attitude towards the Clara. It's far better one handed as you said. I read comics also and such snooby towards the Clara and false info cannot read comics. Rubbish. The Libra is not much better and the price difference between the Libra and Clara is not worth it. If the screen was glass, flush and stronger material could see a justification on price difference but it's still all plastic and the same type of plastic. The stylus is 1/2 the price of the Libra again, not worth it. Not getting that much extra to justify the much higher price, which maybe why the Libra is getting more reviews and hype, because kobo makes more money from the Libra
I got the new colour Clara and feel the $100 difference the Libra colour is not worth it, Just for the buttons and the few extra features, which is not much and not worth $100 more.

I've only ever owned a non-backlit Kindle but gave it away years ago. I'm ready to get back into an e-reader and I'm concerned about the darker screen. What's the battery life like when compared to the BW Kobo? Do you always use the backlight when reading, even on the BW model?
Well they're out of stock for a while now. Sounds very unfair they stop this technology, a lot of books of mine are there. And yea i can use a tablet, but kindle is whole another experience. I hope theu come back soon.

I'm ready to jump ship from Kindle to Kobo, I just haven't made up my mind. Clara BW or Clara Colour. It's gimmicky, but I like the color, and it's only like 20 bucks more. But I do like the screen sharpness of the BW.
Thank God! At minute 1:45 you say the one and only truth, that nobody has had the guts to say: all these extra features are completely useless in an ereader. The form factor itself was worthy enough and a cheaper version would've been perfect. Why implement all this specs in a sort of hybrid whose target is not defined? If you are looking for an ereader, it's way too expensive. If you want an eink phone, it has no sim.
Thanks for doing this comparison. My biggest issue with Kindles (and Amazon tablets) is the ads, and constant upsells. It's like flying Spirit Airlines at all time. If I'm spending $150 on your tablet, and the first thing I see when I open the screen is "pay us $20 more for no ads" it is an instant frustration, and just so.... Amazon.

Hello! Can you comment on immersive reading with the kindle app? This would be incredibly helpful for me as this is the primary way that I consume books. I’ve been looking for an eink device that can do this though. Thank you.
That’s funny you complain about the Nook’s book offers when Kindle does it worse.
Is it normal for a new kindle to freeze so much? Also when I try to go to next page it goes to the cover page and I have a hard time reading. I restarted it, but if it's new it shouldn't have such problems should it? Also everyone talks about the battery but the battery on mine drains super fast. it's 98 and then I use it and it drops within 5 minutes to 89. Airplane mode doesn't do anything.

Great job! If you are interested, I highly recommend THE DIABETES CODE by Dr. Jason Fung. It may seem strange to read a book on type 2 diabetes, but you will soon see that by practicing the information, you will be healthier, loose weight and be stronger for the long run.
Wonderful video. I only learned of the Sikhs when studying military history. It was noted that the Sikhs are mighty and steadfast warriors, which I deeply respect. I learned more in my world religions classes in College. I really love that you made this video and wish I could have shown it to some close minded people to help them see that just because you are brown, doesn't mean you are a Muslim, and furthermore not a "terrorist".

Guys, I am lost and need your help! I have an old Kobo Aura 2 I bought about 8 (?) years ago, and I love it! It still works fine, and I enjoy reading with it. However, I mainly read at night because my brain has decided that reading is a night-time activity, so I'd like to have a new e-reader that comes with a night light. I would like to have an e-reader with the shape of the Libra Color, but here comes the dilemma. I seldom read any color content. I might read some manga if I had a bigger screen (and most of them are B/W anyway), and I'm a bit concerned that the Libra Color may not offer a great B/W experience. Unfortunately, they discontinued the Libra 2. I really do not want to get involved with anything Amazon sells since I like to have freedom with the repositories and libraries I can get books from, and I love the Kobo OS and general experience. What should I do? Wait for Kobo to release a new device, hoping they will make a B/W version?
Nearly every Kindle, with the exception of the Oasis model, has been out of stock on Amazon India since March 2024. Strangely, there's been no news coverage or announcements regarding this situation. is it possible that Kindles are being phased out of the Indian market? Could you please investigate further and provide any relevant updates or news on this matter?

This is the best video so far to explain. I am a first time buyer, I was more keenly interested in reading the books more but since I am now a mother and a teacher with every duty possible to do in the world I should now go for Kindle. I was confused with the basic and paperwhite but now I am so sure which to buy!!! Thanks alot
