Old and New Royal Navy, Royal Marines, FAA, British Army and RAF videos
Some of you will know us from X, 10 minute videos are the maximum allowed over there, KZread was the answer, we cant wait to share hours of Military videos with you, It will take a while to get into a groove but we hope to upload videos at least once a week until we have a decent number for you to watch.
Although we are normally very Royal Navy focused (being ex RN) we thought that we may as well share the RAF and Army videos that we have too, we may not know a lot about those videos but i'm sure you can help us along the way, we hope that you enjoy them and the memories come flooding back, only the good ones though! we will try to reply to as many comments as we can.
We would love it if you could subscribe, this will enable us to grow and find new videos to license.
The armed forces community is something special and we hope to start some conversations and spread some joy
All the very best

Remember when the Shepa vans were upgraded with blue lights in 1988. Never seen so many quick responses to Dunfermline from Cochrane. 🚨
Met Don once or twice, miserable bugger lol
I was a junior soldier.....a year at the Guards Depot, certainly didn't mess me up....
Did my selection at Deepcut, messed me up!
Great memories
This channel is on fire 😀
Thank you! Hopefully it will get better as we start to realise how KZread works :)
One of the worst mistakes the British Army made in the 1990s was getting rid of Junior Entry.
No need for it & I never saw any getting promoted quicker
And now talk is about doing away with the MW or Muppets as we knew them, Thankfully Vernon was my only Pompey draft as a Tas Ape. Great days though, Sad to see it go.
What an amazing ship she was!
Love the Cold War soundtrack. Makes you imagine Soviet spies infiltrating Portsmouth, Portland and Plymouth during the days of Buster Crabbe.
My old man was 3rd sprockets got out in 1974. Last posting was Hong Kong as a PSI for the RHKR. Before that he was with 3RTR in Wuffers as a recce regiment.
Virtually all the 'civilians' have short hair - I suspect they're squaddies & the women are W.R.A.C's.
Still feel it today. Second nature while there. VERY hard to shake off and still like my back against a wall so I can see what's coming.
HMS Vernon, now Gunwharf Quays. Surprised to see the now King Charles in some the classroom shots and stepping aboard the Ton-class HMS Bronington which he commanded (and which I think is still having efforts made to preserve her). Another brilliant vid.
Old friend of mine was serving aboard HM submarines at that time and through much of the 80's. Even 20 years ago he still wouldn't talk about much of what they did a couple of dozen years before.
Anyone notice The King
Yes indeed, in a few the classroom shots and then later aboard HMS Bronington which he would later command.
All gone to harry pounds yard now 😢
Thanks to all british forces ❤
I actually remember this not long after it was released - I was a cadet back then and was at Lympstone on a training course. Seriously considered it.
I was a Midshipman on Devonshire 1972-1973 in Far East and Caribbean. Brilliant ship, many memories still.
Great video. My old dad was at Vernon, then on to the Ton class 'Caunton' and he absolutely loved every minute of it. He would have loved watching this.
What kind of man joins the Services to be a Waiter.
Nice video.
Must be late 50's early 60's, with the Mau Mau reference. All I remember is translating českým rozhlasovým operátorům and the българска армия then transferring there conversations to Fortran 77 on floppy discs 😆😆.
0:30 looks like the opening of that sci-fi series, "UFO" 😂
15:06 my brother alan willoughby
Fore sone reason i watch a lot of old military educational videos. This one is clearly much above the normal in terms of alting, dialog and filming. Great production values too.
Now all the Brits have a boyfriend in their unit. They are a joke.
I would give anything to get the country back in the condition it was when this made..diabolical what we have allowed to take place
Even with the time machine, Hampshire still had to sit through hours of tv until they could record the right commercial. Good work fella.
Wow I can really appreciate the immensely hard training. Thank you for sharing this great info
He neglected to mention the best part of a Singapore posting, being a member of the SDWS.
Attractive item don't touch
Watched this when it 1st came out
That was enjoyable, thanks for uploading. Was it made as a naval information film i.e. to encourage those doing Shore Patrol duties of its benefits?
😂😂😂😂😂
No Surrender 🇬🇧
Rule Britannia 🇬🇧 ⚓ 🇬🇧 ✌🏻
Ats my house er!
The balls it must take to do this....actually its the sheer professionalism that is humbling.
Many thanks for this-pre cypress green beret
Brilliant, I remember this advert ,
My father, air cdr. W.h dainty was director of engineering during the roll out of tornado, and director of aircraft supply actually ordering the aircraft. He was involved in the 50s at farnborough developing hunter, and was involved in the blue streak and black night programmes. He ran 2 MUs in seletar and won the sword at senior staff college chenies Latimer . Strangely, he did not believe in tornado, but in ordering double or even treble the number of F16, , s as, reading Liddell-hart, and his own uncle ACM sir l. Hollingurst that in an air war, numbers were key. These lessons stand today, as I now realise. I was a struggling actor, knowing nothing of his achievements but believe today that, an apprentice, or “Erk” 39 entry at Halton, he was the best of us, and I admire him greatly. Those early lessons led him to many qualifications, and he was an engineer to his roots. He died, from a heart attack in 1983, but he helped win the Cold War .he never lived to see the benefit. I was in Berlin, strangely in 1989,and at checkpoint Charlie, with the East Germans coming over the wall in their thousands, did, and at last, realised that what he, and all his colleagues had done. I’m 73, and won’t last much longer, but will be buried with him.
Quite a good video, despite its age. Everything still applies.
No WRAC members at this time? Fascinating video, narrated by the late Richard Baker. Thank you for posting this. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I wanted to join the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussar but the Colour Sergeant was a Royal Irish Ranger. Can you guess which Regiment I ended up in? 😂
The Irish ☘️ republican army ?
Pioneer Corps?
@@user-he5so4gz4r 😂😂😂 The Chunkies? Nah, I was too stupid for them so they sent me to the Rangers😂
@@bugler75 looking on the positive side, the only way is up from there lol. I did a year in the Dozey Doughnuts before transferring to the RAC. To be honest I hated my time in, except for 2 years where I didn't have much to do with my regiment. Most I knew that stayed in were institutionalised, terrified of civvy street or in for a career, I joined just for the experience, once I'd been it,done it and got the t shirt I was out.
@@user-he5so4gz4r I’m sorry to hear you didn’t have the experience that I did. I fortunately had a fantastic time in the Army. After 26 years in I finished with a degree in Nursing and continued to travel the world after leaving before settling in France. But I do understand that in the first few years that various factors can make or break the experience. I hope civvy street worked out better for you mate, genuinely 👍🏼
I joined the Royal Navy in 1970 and remember watching this film during training. I also remember being told during training that pennant numbers were no longer painted on submarines because it made it too easy for the Russians to identify them.
Know the RN, i wouldn't bet against them using this video today too :)
One of the things they tell us now is not to tie flotations together ..more likely of capsizing when waters are worse
Amazing where did you come by this ??? 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
We've recently been given access to an archive with many many hours of film, some are in serious need of restoring so it may be a long process but we are getting as many up as possible :)
Back when we had so many sailors
