Welcome to Domaine Sauvage! Let me introduce us: I'm Anicia, accompanied by my partner Philippe and our little explorer, Odin. In the summer of 2023, we left the comforts of our lives in Belgium and purchased an old farmhouse in the south of France, specifically in the Dordogne region. We produce weekly videos documenting our progress on the property, with the ultimate goal of renovating it and restoring it to its former glory. Join us on our journey of transforming this French homestead as we aim for a simpler, yet more fulfilling life closer to nature.

Another exciting video. I just enjoy your husband Sense of humor it brings a smile to me. He explains everything so well and in detail. Your precious son is growing so fast it’s sweet whenever he gets in the video for a moment. Thank you for sharing and see you soon. Glad you all made it back safely form your brother wedding❤ 🇺🇸
Thank you Cindy, Odin is growing like mad 😎😅 ❤
hallo daar in frankrijk . zijn jullie nederlands of frans talig ? groetjes
Hallo Patrick, nederlandstalig 😎
Great job! Looking really amazing.
Thx Bonnie!
Wow, the thought of demolition of this stunning chateau is painful. I'm so very grateful that they didn't demolish her. 🙏
Very crazy but the cost was probably very high to renovate that ruin.
Tja, die stenen in de grond . . . de Fransen hebben daarmee leren leven ;-)
Stenen genoeg allezins 😂
When do you think you will try to start the old international tractor it could be a huge help in keeping growth kept to a minimum 🇬🇧🇮🇪
First we need to get it up to the barn and the ground is still too wet, maybe end of this week because we are having good weather i can try with the digger!
You have made a massive difference from when you first moved in, To how it is know 🇬🇧🇮🇪.
Thank you Michael!
Good effort Philippe. We were going to do ours this year in April before the weather got too hot. Unfortunately as you know the weather has been awful. Will wait till next year now I reckon. Have a great week 🇫🇷👍
I am trying to forget the weather from October to End of June 😂We were going to do our barn roof which is on the verge of collapse in April, but since we couldn't move the soil we couldn't start on it 😬I think now is too hot to start pointing anyways maybe you can do the prep work already 😎
@@DomaineSauvage I couldn’t agree with you more. Hopefully next year will be more consistent. I know you moved from Belgium but are you Dutch? I ask because I’m 76% Dutch (Rotterdam) 23% Irish, 1.5% English and 1% Arabic lol
Wow, great job.
Thx Maxine!
Phillip wear a mask! From people that have lung trouble now we’re trying to protect you.
I know i should wear it more often!
I’m always so very grateful when you don’t show snakes🫣🫣🫣
Hahaha, when the guy for the fiber came suddenly there was one behind us 😂
I feel like most people feel about you and the incredible job you’re doing. You will know every inch (American 🤷🏼♀️) of your property! Love the channel and your sense of humor!
Thx Cathy! Inch, centimeters, ... as long as we can measure its good enough 😅 Thx for supporting and watching!
Can you not use your mower to tow the chipper or is it too heavy👍👍
I cant spoil everything but in one of the upcoming videos maybe... 😅
Hi Philippe, amazing job as always. I see the van is now registered in France. Don't forget your dust mask when removing the render, got to protect your lungs. :-)
Hey Tony, yes the van and trailer are French now 😎! We need another 4 years before we can apply to become French 😅
@@DomaineSauvage Are there any advantages to becoming French citizens as you are already EU citizens?
@@tonycole9593 Being able to vote i think, i would have to look up what the other advantages or disadvantages are. We would keep both nationalities if we do it.
@DomaineSauvage Ah, OK, that makes sense. Hopefully now it's summer the rain will stop long enough to let you do some more work. :-)
I am in the USA the state of Tennessee Tennessee and I will be watching every episode and sharing with others. I am amazed at what you have gotten and how hard you’re working your baby is precious and he will have amazing place to grow up. I look forward to all that you all will be sharing.!!

Hello Bonnie! Thx for watching and supporting us! Hope you enjoy the videos!
We need more than one episode a week. 😊 I love following and seeing the amazing difference you are making. The house will look amazing when the stonework has been uncovered.
Maybe in the future 😉
Well done, nice property
Thank you vom!
Hi both…you can already see the house will look great 11:32
Thx Graham!
Hey Philippe, the house is already looking a lot better after your really hard work! You don’t seem at all daunted. As always, totally impressed with your work ethic and your cleaning up is second to none. Thanks for the chateau tour which was excellent, Odin looked very at home in a castle!!
This is easy just removing stuff 😂Odin would love a castle but that's too much work for his papa.
@@DomaineSauvage You have your own castle!!
The old stones on the house are fabulous, Odin is growing so much, and kudos to Philippe for getting everything looking neat for the family to arrive back to. Hot weather forecast this week, at last!
Yes this week looks gooooooooooooooooooood 😎
Urs looking good without the render. It should look good when finished, quite a big job though 😊
Thx Jean!
I see your fruit trees are already setting their fruit. You are so blessed to have all these beautiful trees and the bounty they provide!!
Ah yes we have some fruit trees, we do need some more varieties, now it is a lot of peach and no apples for example.
You have an amazing work ethic ,very impressive I love the look of the outside of the house it will look amazing once it's pointed, another fantastic video,
Thank you Judith!
Please wear a dust-mask!
Hi Peter, i should wear it more often.
Big job removing all that tender
Today i finished the last bits so next up will be cleaning the face of the stones!
Well done on a big job 👏
What is the little stone building in front of the house. Is it your well? Love your renovation. The farm already looks100% better💕Ruth - Oregon, USA
Hey Ruth, that is indeed our well which we would like to use for everything if the water is good.
Wonderful video with hard work and rich history! Thank you for showing the incredible chateau and explaining the fantastic story behind its centuries of restoration and expansion! Odin is growing well and learning so much. He will be talking in dual languages soon. You are both very good parents, and he has such an excellent extended family also! ❤😊❤
Yeah a very beautiful chateau, we might put more little visits in our videos if people like it! It will be good to see him talk two languages!
U have the most positive work ethic . I want to financially support the three of u. How do I become a patreon?
Right under the video you will find the information, where it says, SUPPORT US. Hope it helps.
Thx Rick, under the video description you can see our Patreon link, you will need to make an account there and sign up to our page. You can choose whichever monthly amount you want to do or you can go to our BuyMeACoffee page and donate there as well. 🙏
How many items on the checklist? 😂😂
It is better we don't keep one anymore 😂
The stone wall looks beautiful. What a pleasure to be able to see it properly. Best wishes.
Thx Shirley!
Your neat and tidy habits yield benefits. The property you cleared and cleaned is so picturesque and inviting now. You know the job is not finished until everything is put away and cleared up. You have discipline.
Thank you AD, we are not perfect at all but we do try to keep on top of things before they grow too "big" The garden is a big difference from when we arrived a year ago! 🙏😎
Phillipe. One of the hardest working men on the internet imo. The property looks amazing Phillipe. Love your nature shots of flowers and berries and fruit. We must always take time to appreciate that.
Thx Susan, one of the reasons we moved here is to be able to enjoy nature more so what better place to work 🙏
I agree. If you like this kind of work, check out “Life by Living” too. Ricky and Victoria have this same work ethic 😁.
I have watched their videos a few times and indeed always a neat workplace!
What will you do with the old render you removed from the walls? Regards Chris
Chris this will go under the driveway behind the barns.
Beautiful place you have chosen to live.but so many stripes in the sky .😢
We can not control the planes and especially in Europe there are many.
black spots on the rose leaves means that you have exceptionally clean air where you are
That is one of the reasons we moved from Belgium to here to have a bit better air quality.
Thank you for sharing your chateau trip what a miracle that it was not demolished thank goodness Phillippe you are one professional builder tidy site after each job my son is a brick layer bespoke builder here in Norfolk UK specialises in flint stone & brick weave & cleans & tidies at each stage making little jobs rather than one huge job I have told him to watch your Chanel he would approve of removing the render to reveal the stone work & why not it’s beautiful & will be better in your capable hands Lovely to see Odin pop into to the vlog See you next week
Ah Sue, every week i look for you in the "to be judged section" to see if you commented 😅Lucky someone saved the chateau! Yes it is indeed important to keep on top of the job and divide it into smaller tasks making it more manageable. See you next week Sue!
@@DomaineSauvage can’t find out why it happens or how to change it Sorry
Don't worry Sue, it is no trouble for me! It just involves one click 👍
Odin's lapin looks like he needs to be fed...
Hahaha it is a mouton but yes it needs some food, Odin is not sharing 😂
You work so very hard
Oh it is ok, i work as hard as anyone else 🙏👍
What a stupid idea from the ancient farmers to have coated those stones with a cement render! It keeps the moister in the walls and it is so ugly!!!!!
Yes and no, it was a new product on the market so they didn't know it wasn't good to be used in this instance. That it was ugly i have to agree 😂
@@DomaineSauvage Because a product is new, you have to use it???? Lime had been used for thousand years, there was a reason to it.
@@Francedefence I would use Lime now but in those days they chose the quick path which wasn't the right one sadly enough.
Your stone house is going to stand out just lovely after all your hard work thanks once again for a lovely video
Thx Thomas, once everything is finished we hope it will all come together and look amazing! But still a long road ahead of us 🙏
From the very first video, I watched, I could tell you guys are very hard workers and nothing has changed my mind since then. What a project getting all the render off the front of the house. Amazing. I’m sitting here in my easy chair, watching your video, procrastinating just cleaning the gutters at my house, lol. That was certainly an amazing château that you took us to. Such beautiful roof lines, and interiors. The garden is gorgeous too. And for it to be back in one of the original family’s hands. Now that’s what I call generational wealth!
Thx for the very nice compliment sylvanaire! It is quite ok to get it off, the more demanding task will be too get the face of the stones looking good again. We sit in our easy chair too sometimes watching other KZreadrs do their thing 😂 The chateaux is very beautiful and indeed crazy it was up for sale for demolition 😯
It is wonderful to see the land cleared of debris and overgrowth! Your chickens are very clever, as they seem to associate the digger with access to the freshest meals! Looking forward to seeing the tractor freed! Thanks for the glimpses of France and your lovely family life!
Digger = worms 😂 or sometimes i wonder if they think Philippe = worms 😂
Little Odin is growing so fast ❤. I’m glad to see that you take some time to just enjoy your lovely family and the French countryside. Thank you for the interesting videos. The house looks so much better already.
Oh yes there is no stopping him now, soon he will start talking 😎
Love how you clean your land just wonderful your the best one in KZread just beautiful and KZread is worldwide your the best ❤
Thank you Pamela! 🙏
Just an idea.....the other day, I watched someone use an angle grinder to remove old lime and also concrete render and it worked like a charm. It went really fast too! Of course there is a lot of dust but it they did it in no time.
To grind the pointing between the stones? I know there are raking discs for that job i might get one. The outside of the stones on the old barn i cleaned with a wire brush on the grinder.
@@DomaineSauvage yes, it was in between the stones.
Yeah i might look at one of those raking discs 👍🙏
Handschuh is german,it means Gloves…..beautiful Odin soo nice to see him🎉❤
Hey Christine, in many languages apparently, i am not crazy 😂
Oh great,did not know it …thanks 🥳
Hi, from South Africa, I love watching your channel, in Afrikaans we also call gloves handskoene😂
Haha yeah in many languages apparently 😅
Great to see you enjoying the nice weather by seeing more beautiful French countryside and history
Hey Jay, we had some better days but overall still soo rainy! Yeah we have some beautiful castles around us, if people like it we will show some more of them with some history.
Great video ❤
Thank you 🙏
