This channel was created to help give people the knowledge and confidence they need to work on their own home. Knowledge leads to confidence, and confidence leads to creating skills. I have learned so much from people in my life, and I want to help empower others to action.
I have been helping our family business of renovating houses for flips and rentals since I was 7 years old. I still have much to learn, but I hope we can all help each other out on here.

I have one with a drain line and the other does not. So I guess the second one has the "slinger ring." Doesn't seem to work as good as the one with the drain.
Thats why my house rotted as a kid
So that’s what that iconic sound was
I'm 😕 confused. Guessing it has somethin to do with my level of GenX common sense, operating sawmills, chainsaws, construction, etc., but WTF are you doing? Chainsaw=2min. or less for less $$$ than you spent on those sawzaw blades. Congrats for trying, but Millenials really do have zero common sense.
Didn’t know, didn’t care.
Yeah no. No matter how much i tilt my ge smart ac the "slinger ring" slings water into my apartment without the hole drilled in the bottom. All yall handimen and hvac techs wanna talk about how these things are supposed to work but never wanna service them when theyre not working. Maybe bc you dont understand how they work?
Guilty 😔
why it is important to level during install
I am the 1%
Chainsaw
isn't this how legionnares disease happens
Yeah, well, mine is leaking INSIDE instead of outside.
It’s only dangerous because you aren’t holding it correctly to prove your point
OHHH THAT'S THAT SOUND. sometimes i think it's raining
I just watched that drill lose a drill battle with a Milwaukee 👀
Mine got 2 holes
Too late already drilled it😂
Get a chain saw
I've never had one that didn't drain the condensation from it and even those tend to smell like a damn swamp after the first summer. Hell, on cars all the hvacs drain because too much moisture can cause you evaporator coil to ice over which will stop it from working entirely or kick your freeze switch. On top of the ice issue, once mold or algae starts growing inside the hvac, it smells horrible and its really hard to kill off the smell.
Or just don't grab it like a bitch
Yup i put a couple holes at the bottle and every so often I'll go out there to make sure it's still draining cause something with the weather here all types of crap with get inside and gunk the water up
Definitely drill them. Why? Galvanic corrosion will cause leaks in the coils that let the refrigerant out. It mostly eats away at the iron containing steel, but it will also wear pinholes in the condenser coils.
Look how rusty that air conditioner is I wonder why metal is not supposed to hold water
Also, if you try to drill out the water after you worked 3 18 hour days in a row, are exhausted and not paying attention, you could possibly drill one of the condenser lines.
If you put a wedge in the top it won't pinch the blade
I've had to tell so many people why it holds water
Whoopsie.
From the way that vent is bent, I'm guessing you didn't know that either...
This saved me just in time from drilling mine 😅
Opps.
Also if an air conditioner drips on you to not be grossed out. Thats distilled water its very clean.
Then why not make a plastic coated base so the water doesn't rust the housing?
If you read the manual, you know this
Why do some units overflow and leak water outside? The water is overflowing inside
Yeah it works great until it collects dirt and bacteria and slime and it doesn't work at all.
I guarantee you 99% of those slinger rings don’t work.
Thanks
Nope, dont care, cant sleep with that racket
A guy selling ACs is telling you this because he knows it will rust out your AC quicker and he can sell you a new one. They are meant to drain
Drilled my last 2 or 3. Doesn't matter it's more efficient when it's full of mold, dead bugs, and gunk. Kept me from having to take out the unit every year and *completely* disassemble the unit to clean every nook and cranny out.
We're tf did the water come from
Yea when I hear that I feel good like it's working extra cold 🥶
This air conditioner is equipped with aslinger fan. (See drawing, below.)The fan has an outer ring that runs inthe water that collects in the base panif it gets deep. That condensate is thenpicked up by the fan and expelledthrough the condenser, making the airconditioner more efficient. This is out of the manual for my window ac...i done the drill method but now im doing the plug the hole method haha😂 ty for the video
Drilled mine about 12-13 years ago. Still works perfect. The noise was annoying and it was causing the unit to corrode prematurely. Plus to not mention the fact that the motor constantly being bogged down will reduce its life spa
What purpose would you be hogging out that much of a hole in that big of a frame? It’s literally bigger than the beam. This is not what hole saws are meant for. It’s also literally deeper than the bit. A sane person would use a bit actually designed to evacuate chip as it’s going. The only reason this is working for you is because the holesaw is literally bigger then the beam and can evacuate chip out of the clear area.
Thank you for this. I was just about to drill mine
Fuckkkk, I just drilled mine bc it had water sitting in the bottom and was growing mold. I have asthma and that’s not a good combination. (Yes I have it tilted and it didn’t drain)
swamp cooler
They need to redesign how a blade attaches to a sawzall
I wondered why water lay in the pan .I have been educated
