Hello and welcome to my channel! The Lone Adventurer channel is dedicated to tabletop solo gaming, especially games that provide a sense of adventure and exploration. If that sounds like your idea of a good time, then this may well be the channel for you!
Games I have played on the channel and enjoy include Miru, Barbarian Prince, Four Against Darkness, Pauper's Ladder and many, many more.
And another thing - I also love drawing and spend quite a bit of my time creating top-down and isometric maps that might be useful for those who enjoy rpgs. If that sounds like your sort of thing, search me out on Instagram - I'm ways.unseen.
If you want to get in contact, you can find me on Twitter (link below) or you can email me at loneadventurerplays at gmail dom com!
Thanks for popping by!

Want to get into solo adventur books any tips on where to get them from, some books coukd look uo or should I build binder with pdf files of books printed out and do a table top wrighting stuff down kinda thing
Where do you get this printed out
Pretty interesting! 🕷️☢️
Totally! And that beastie....ick!
Did I misunderstand something here? You took out the drone and then destroyed it, but then you rolled to see if that damage happened to the scientist? I’m sure it said you only need to roll if YOU fail the test and potentially take damage (not the enemy)?
You may well be right, I have been known to make a mistake on occasion 😉
@@lone_adventurer 😅 we still enjoy watching. Interesting game. Looks quite a challenge
What a fun little game! Hey, do you have a recommendation or two for a solo game in the Mad Max/Road Warrior/epic apocalyptic car chase genre?
@@thundercat8601 What an excellent and timely questinon :) Firstly, check out my playthrough of Enter the Dismal Armory, which is a solo game set in a post-apocalyptic future. Then, go follow the designer Scott C MacDonald on itch.io (there will be a link in the description of the playtrhough) BECAUSE he is super close to releasing a sequel to that game and that will be exactly what you are asking for - a cross-country Mad Max style car chase game!
@@Zelda-Fangirl-180 thanks for watching :) Yup, this is definitely one where there's a good change your character won't make it!
Thank you for playing my game on the channel! It's always interesting to see how other players fare.
Of course! I was about to email you a link but you were too quick 😉
@@lone_adventurer I have eyes everywhere! ;)
Gotta say, I'm loving going through all your videos as I delve deeper into this sub subgenre. You have any interest in one page games? It's something I've been playing with while I flirt with making a larger project.
Glad you're enjoying the playthroughs! I'm always interested to see new games - you'll find my email address in the about section for the channel!
Well you introduced me to Ker Nethalas. This one looks relatively fun. Especially the chance ton run multi characters is very appealing.
6:26 It is unfortunate that Jason has chosen to use AI to do the art and then to stylize the result. It is very obvious that this was achieved via those means; it is not that his art has "improved" out of nowhere. This new blue deck, as well as new "promo" cards, is the reason why I decided against buying this game. His previous art had the charm of an amateur and a soul; you felt passion behind it. The new art, especially when you clearly see that it was generated, speaks to you differently. The specific "quality" behind the generation contrasts with the previous art as well as with the still-amateur design of the cards, and there is a tremendous contrast-an unpleasant one. I hope that designers will acknowledge that their "amateur" art is something of value, and I hope that more buyers will see the difference between real art and a generated one.
Jason has done a video on his own channel about his thoughts on AI art; I just watched it as I was thinking about how to respond to your comment. It's pretty clear to me that he wouldn't use AI images in the way you describe. He's one of the most distinctive designers in this little corner of the gaming hobby and his art work - which has improved steadily over time thanks to hard work (and natural talent) - is a big part of what makes his games so well loved.
@@lone_adventurer Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate that. Let me address your point regarding his hard work first: I acknowledge that he certainly has a history of making games; that's absolutely clear. I like his videos about game design, and I think that he has his own unique vision as a tabletop game designer. It is always a pleasure to listen to his thoughts about different board game design-related topics. I have seen the video about AI as well. In the comments to that video, he noted that he doesn't mind photobashing and using AI for that purpose. This technique is what I'm talking about: getting an AI output and painting on top of it or stylizing it. I didn't say that this is something anybody should be ashamed of; what I tried to say is that using AI changes your vision as an artist; you stop expressing yourself as a person and start reinterpreting whatever AI created for you. If you look through a "Gnome Pack" product, you will see the drastic difference with Jason's art output provided previously. That is my point: I want Jason to express himself, even if his art is amateurish. Art is subjective and intimate (if it is done by a person); that is why I adore Dungeon Degenerates or Dark Venture, for example. A good example of how visibility helps an artist really grow is the bluebotic2327 channel. They are also an indie boardgame developer, but the visibility of the creation process is palpable-that indie developer shares all steps regarding not only how game design is developed and refactored (what Jason does as well) but also how art is being developed, from pen sketches to gouache paintings and editing in Photoshop. This is possibly a far-fetched example since that developer is a true artist, but we don't see the same transformation and "growing as an artist" from Jason. He talks about design because this is his true passion. I like that about him. What we don't see is his creation process for his new impeccable characters concept art. As an artist, you can't be caught blatantly photobashing someone's art anymore since your input may come from a unique AI generation. I'm only pointing out that photobashing upon AI output takes a creator's soul out of the product. For people with an art education, those things (at least for now) are clear. Iron Helm became popular despite art being less "professional," but because of it. I may have been wrong in choosing my wording; English is not my native language. But I wanted to share my opinion to bring that discussion to others to contemplate. I even consider writing a letter to Jason now as well, although it seems to me that he cares about game design much more than expressing himself as an artist, which is not necessarily a bad thing either.
@@michaelpachin1157 thanks for your response - definitely a topic worth discussion and I appreciate you doing so in a measured way. I think there is a decent chance that you're right and Jason has introduced an element of digital support to the composition of his illustrations. But I'm still inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt (not that I'm neccessarily saying that approach would be in any way innappropriate) until such time that he chooses to publicly discuss the topic himself. Thanks for watching!
Ambuscade is an old English word for ambush, a Beadle is an word for an official like a bailiff, Oakum is like a rope covered/impregnated with tar
Amazing, thanks for the info!
TRY The Last House by Mae Wilkes
I shall, but only because you asked me twice 😉
TRY The Last House by Mae Wilkes
Unknown Journal by Mori Seika is free too.
I noticed you didn't use your +1 Attack vs undead in either video, or attempt to turn the undead. Have you lost your faith?
I've lost my memory :D If I remembered those things, I'm sure I would have done them!
Great video as always! Thank you for entertaining me again
You're welcome! I'm glad you are entertained!
Could you share your process for the monster card creation? I've got the physical book and PDF. I've also got the PDF for the cards. The cards don't include the monster description so I'm thinking I'd prefer to recreate from the book PDF. How did you achieve it?
Nothing too complicated! I printed the pages from the pdf onto card and then used a corner cutter to round the corners! I would say too keep an eye out for a new version - I know Alex is working on an updated version that will almost certainly contain some tweaks to some of the monsters, so it might be worth waiting for that to be released before making your own cards!
I agree on learning weapons. You might learn to use say an arming sword and shield or a messer but that would leave you out to sea with a long sword as the principles are the same but the finer techniques are specific to each weapon.
It's a nice touch and something that I didn't think about before.
This came out the year I was born. Yep, a prince was born alright! :)
Haha, well you should know that things don't normally work out for the Barbarian Prince 😉
I'm amazed so many are free!
Yup people are very generous with their games! Hope you found something you liked the look of!
Hey, im looking for solo RPG games that use dnd dice (d20, etc) Wondering if you have any recommendations please?
A lot of games I play on the channel use those dice 🙂 maybe check out Harper's Quest, Ker Nethalas or Caves and Catacombs!
@@lone_adventurer Cheers! Thanks for the recommendations
What a great little adventure sprung from nothing more than your imagination and a few random tables. Superb!
It's a great tool 🙂 glad you enjoyed the playthrough!!
Hey, man. I love your videos and I appreciate how you always turn me on to new systems. I'm a publisher, and I'd love to send you some of my solo stuff if you're interested. Hit me up and I'll connect you.
Cheers Jacob, glad you like the playthroughs! That's kind of you - give me a shout at loneadventurerplays at gmail dot com
I can`t open a door. Alerted minons 4 times already, I`m basically blending stuff while trying to open a door. Game is awesome but needs some tinkering.
Well presented. But 2/diamonds is not blasphemous. It's stealthy.
I really appreciate you and the great play-thru's because you have introduced me to solo gaming and the variety of great products out there. I am a Widower and live in a rural community where having a Game-night for these genre of games is not possible. I use the games to generate story events in books I write and it is a lot of fun. Thanks again, great job, you are the high point of my week whenever I see a new game posted! Tom Cesarz Congress, Arizona, U.S.A.
Thanks, Tom, your comment has really made my day. Good luck to you on your solo adventures. Very cool that you're able to use these games to inform your writing! I wish you well.
Perhaps run a scenario with Cairn 2e (which is basically the same with different character building)
I'd love to!
Fyi the game you played here came with supplements. buying them as extras, I believe is to support the creator.
Could you upload you're reference sheet? Thanks!
I think that since it is all screenshots of the actual rules, I probably shouldn't. But maybe we can encourage the design to make their own, which will probably be better than mine 🙂
Great vid! Also, just getting into the solo rpg world and it looks like an amazing ruleset. Subscribed!
Thanks for subscribing - glad you found me 😁
where'd you get that dice set? i really love the black metallic look
You know what, I'm not sure! Just searched my emails for an order receipt but I must have deleted it. It was an online dedicated dice store here in the UK.
for the sake of narrative logic i took the time to make up "furniture" tables for each individual dungeon setting, as i felt it doesn't make too much sense to have tables and cabinets strewn throughout say a sewer that would be generally uninhabited, and used the furniture generation table to generate them. it can be really cool and add some story immersion to make stuff up like that :)
Good point, I hadn't thought of that, but cabinets in a sewer would be odd 😁
Good video! It will be intersting to see another playthrough with some PCs. I miss also a reference sheet with all the tables to not to be flipping sheets. I guess I will prepare one like you.😊
Yeah I think a party of adventurers would be fun! Thanks for watching 👍
I really like this one, going to pick this one up!
Great, hope you enjoy it!!
I’d be interested in a video on the Overland expansion
Noted!
Roll for door - result: Pit. Roll for room size - result: Pit, Roll for room shape - result: Pit, Roll for contents - result: Pit!
My favourite part? The part with the pit!
@@lone_adventurer There were so many to choose from at one point. Hope you do another run through with a group.
@lone_adventuter Not trying to be nosey :) but have you ever talked about that game that flashed in the background? Emerald Valley?
I've never talked about it on the channel or played it off the channel! Looks cool though - one of the many games I'd love to find time for and share on the channel! It can be found on itch.io if you have more time than me 🙂
Thank you for the video! I think the way you treat the Defense makes it work the same as the Vitality. Maybe Armor is deducted from the damage on every hit without degrading. And I would say Defense does not reduce the damage from the Traps, just for combat damage. At least I've read the rules that way. The Traps are really deadly, so in this game I usually look for other routes if possible, and Detecting them only if there's no other way to go through.
Thanks for explaining - maybe I need to look again, especially at how armor works!
it seems that the traps are much more dangerous and lethal than the enemies. It seems a little unbalanced
Perhaps, I still enjoyed it though 🙂
Seems an interesting game. I'm playing a torch in the dark at the moment and they both seem to be less complex than 2d6 dungeon or d100, but that's not a bad thing.
Into the Wild is great, but I believe it's too slow and detailed (especially counting the Action Points spent for each... well, action) to be much fun on video. This is more of a "your own table, time and narrative" type of game. The dungeon part is fast paced and segment generation is among the best I have seen, but with traps that are a little too deadly and defense that is worth less than the paper you print the character sheet on, C&C is a very fun game, but in my opinion very niche.
Noted re Into the Wild - I'll still check it out at some point :) Yeah - pretty deadly in the dungeon, at least in my experience. I'm getting more comfortable making adjustments to the rules of a game on the fly though if I think it is becoming to easy / difficult. Those traps totally need toning down a bit...
U are Priest(cleric), dont u hit extra damage against mummy? Becouse undead enemy.
Go for classic 3-4 characthers with complementory skills , lets see how they fare
I am tempted - been a while since I play a 'whole party' dungeon delving game...

I've had this for some months, never really been able to play, thank you!
Overworld please.
You mentioned you printed this one yourself. Do you have an awesome printer at home, or use an online or local printing service?
I do not have an awesome printer (though I recently treated myself and do have a decent one). This was printed with a printing company that I use a lot called Doxzoo (link in the description).
Strip the god of hidden pits hates you
Yup yup, place was riddled with them!
