    I have a 60 and a couple of 50's. Great reels. They definitely are the best value out of the cheaper reels. I prefer them over my Kastking Rovers. The other "cheaper" reel I like is the BPS Catmaxx.

    Hey bud hope all is well with you and your family! It's going good just been a little too busy to fish much and my little boat is still out of commission. But I've got another trip I need to edit where we got in to some decent flatheads at least. Hope you've been able to catch some flatties this year!

    @TheFlattyDaddies I went a couple times in May, did ok, nothing crazy. Been hitting the river with the kayak a lot chasing smallies. Been putting the hammer on them! Going back and forth with myself about fishing the aldred tournament this weekend. Think the spawn is probably on pretty good by now. I hate that that tournament always hits during spawn! Drop me a line if ya ever are heading out and want a partner man. Can't wait to see the flatty trip!

    Hey thanks for watching, I'm glad you liked the video even though it didn't have any big fish. That beach spot was just up from Chapmen Point, which is below the Fort Washington area. I think it was surrounded by private property looking at Google maps. It's hard to find public land along the river, every thing is privately owned. I hope you do find a place though!

I have had six and only had an issue with one but that was after 2 or 3 years of beating it up. Hopefully you have better luck with the 50, I picked one up for a lighter action rod and like it. Good luck and sorry to hear about your reel!

    Love the videos. Keep em coming. I was wondering if you could tell me what size drift sock you use on the Potomac in the current to keep your boat steady. I hate having the stern swing in the wind when I’m bait fishing. I bought a small one but it wasn’t enough. I thought the current would really pull on it but not much. What size do you use? I guess don’t want too large because could pull anchor right?

    Do you have to travel far in the boat to "gill net" bait in Va ?? Sorry for all the questions

  • @TheFlattyDaddies
    @TheFlattyDaddies3 ай бұрын

    Hey man don't worry about the questions! Glad you are out there trying to learn this stuff. I put in at Marshall Hall Landing in MD, take my boat about 10 mins to Gunston Cove and catch the shad. You can also catch shad within 3 mins at Dogue Creek. Just have to look at the buoys and different maps (like Google Maps) to make sure you're in VA waters. You also need to have the VA gill net permit which is $9 but worth it. If you put in up at Gravely Point, that is VA waters but I've never tried gill netting up there. Should be able to catch shad there but I think Gunston Cove is your best bet, head back to the campground on the south side and look for 6ft of water. You'll catch em year round there.

    You dragged a big ole pontoon from pa to md? lol dedicated brother. My truck was stolen last september and recovered 2 weeks later with no body damage. Still haven't gotten it back yet......... Between geico and parts being on backorder it's been a nightmare and i cant take my boat fishing until I do get it back. I have seen pictures of guys hammering big blues up closer to fletchers where the river gets narrower and steep rock banks (facebook group). There is a 70' deep hole up that way I am itching to try (next to three sisters which will make it easy for you to find lol) if i could ever get my truck back..... Great video again btw!

  • @TheFlattyDaddies
    @TheFlattyDaddies3 ай бұрын

    Yeah man it is a lot to drive that big freakin boat around but at least there's plenty of room just gotta get used to fishing on it. Man that really sucks about your truck! That's the worst, having a boat but no way to tow it. Glad you were able to get it recovered, something tells me that doesn't happen too often. I've been up that way before and it can be really great fishing, but when I'm by myself I like to fish MD waters so that I can use more than 3 rods. It's a luxury I don't get to have in PA so I like to do that when I can. Good luck I hope they get your truck back soon!

    On your second fish it made me wonder why people leave rod holders in every where (in the way)

  • @TheFlattyDaddies
    @TheFlattyDaddies3 ай бұрын

    Hey man thanks for watching! I like having all those rod holders so I can choose where I put my rod. The location of the rod can help keep the line where I want it if there's a lot of current. In PA we can only use 3 rods per person so it gives me lots of options. They do get in the way but for me it's worth the trade off.

    You're catching not next to the bridge but close to it nice cats though where I'm at if I had boat I turn it about 20 to 40 yards by the bridge throwing in the current with it not vs it.

  • @TheFlattyDaddies
    @TheFlattyDaddies3 ай бұрын

    Hey man thanks for watching! That's cool you fish that area too it's a great spot on the river. I think I know the area you're talking about there's a nice big hole there that has produced for me before. That has to be tough bank fishing there when that current is flowing so hard. If you see me putting in ever and I don't have any one with me say hi and I'll take you out with me. Plenty of room on that boat. If nothing else it'll show you the depths along the bank where you fish.

    Do you prefer the MD or VA side?

  • @TheFlattyDaddies
    @TheFlattyDaddies3 ай бұрын

    I never really thought about that, but I guess most of my spots are closer to the MD side. I have fished the VA side but I have more luck on the eastern shore. I think it's because the channel tends to be on that side more and I like to fish the channel ledges. But there's plenty of spots on the VA side of the channel that work well too. Thanks for watching!

    Yeah it's always a tough decision whether to move or not, especially when they're biting. But the KZread videos don't show the down time either. I just know when they are on like that, whenever the bite slows down and I move to another spot I get slammed again. And I try to switch up the spots and scenery for the people watching, even if in that area it doesn't look all that different. Thanks for watching! And yeah I was pretty tired after that trip lol

I hope you can get a boat soon, even if it's just a jon boat with a 9.9 motor. As long as it runs and floats it's all you need in most situations. I got that pontoon because my family wanted to get out with me and we needed the space, but it's definitely more than I need. Good luck out there!

    What's the closest boat ramp to put you at the 95 bridge? Which one do you recommend??

  • @TheFlattyDaddies

    I've been using the ramp at Marina Park this year since the Port Deposit ramp went to only yearly passes and it's $100 for out of staters. The Marina Park is $10 a day and is very close to where I like to fish. They also do a great job at keeping it open and clean. Good luck out there!
