It’s a nice bike ,but my perfect meteor bike would have a 450 engine and spoked wheels needs a bit more power for the hills and freeway I tkink it would sell like hot cakes ,jimmy Aust I would pay a bit more for the extra power
I had the same rubbish tyres on my Enfield. Very disappointing. A set of Bridgestone's transformed the handling. Eagerly awaiting the bikes here in the peoples republic of kalifornia.
Good to hear, there should never be a shortage of frivolity.
Did almost 6k in two weeks last year...When booking apartment check location on maps using terrain...We booked in Italy for that day early morning, said we will come late at night, it started to pour rain half hour close to apartment, but the worst part was off road terrible road up into mountains which at that time we didn't check..Maybe for Africa that wouldn't be a problem but I was on mt09 with sport tires..Another thing take repellent for mosquitoes..We did cheap airbnb in Switzerland, stayed at horse farm, oh boy we did mistake, we were eaten alive by mosquitoes...Third thing, if you travel with friends and wanna make fair splits between bills like coffe, food, tolls etc...Use envelope piggy bank where all of us put same amount of money..That way u don't have to worry about who paid this who paid that, it all goes from same pot
I think they should have put a 450 engine in it to help it on hills and motorway may be one day ,old jimmy
l know this doesn't apply at the movement but what happens when its time for ITV... will you change back to OEM for test of like l did 'once' take a chance, that turned out to be a bad call since the bike failed immediately ...
Bike sounds like it can breath now. That's usually what I delete first on my bikes is the heavy, heat sink, bread box cats. Bikes run so much better without that Environment police garbage.
Maybe an addition to the garage is on the cards Sean 😉especially if they bring out the much awaited Classic 650 👍
I love the Celestial Blue version, that's the one that stands out for me the most. With Royal Enfield having a great aftermarket selection, you can upgrade and customise it to your hearts content and really make it your own.
If you ask the lady for her thoughts, let her speak without interruption… we DO want to hear her.
There's no reason why they couldn't have made the seat 3" longer and moved the tail light down a touch.
Got a fun feeling to it
I had one of these, lasted 3 days! Pros: good ergos if you are 6 foot +; cheap new; looks…. Cons: weedy power; back destroying suspension; lack of character; poor build quality…. Best custom I have owned (and I’ve had Harley’s), go second hand = Honda magna vf750c 🤟
07:58 " *but let's see, this is still very far in the future....probably 2025, so let's see how it develops* " Mate, that's next year - nine months' time.
Ural is the best ever motorcycle in history. It will go through water, sand, mud, snow...........anything. Made of steel, that thing is indestructible. The AK of motorcycles!!!!!
I love it when regular people say, "Ooh! Wot's that mate?!" And you tell them what it is and they say, "I had a CG125/RD125/CB250 back in the day.." I always say, "Have a sit on it, mate!" And they throw a leg over it and they're 18 again and there's that shy grin from the recall of happy memories. Some times they come out with an amazing story of tragic bravado or silly sentimentality. Then they get off and ask how much it cost and what it does to the gallon and all the other questions you ask when you're a grown up.
Czy można podnieść przód moto wysuwając teleskopy w dół o 1cm, bo widzę że jest taka możliwość
You two are getting good at this Sean! Nice review
Thank you Richard that's very kind. We will be including Suzie whenever possible from now on if she's feeling up to it.
The doggie is called Bow 🙂
You sir are a true patron of Midwest Moto. I have a lot to learn 😁
I must get down there next year it looks a stack of fun 😊
Thanks Dave. By the way how are you getting on with your CF? I did an introduction vid to the 800MT not up yet but filmed. Thought about your bike... cheers, Sean
Thanks for the review Sean. Kelly and I have just bought a SM650 as a wedding present to each other. Celestial Blue. Taken the screen off straight away. The Tech bar riser kit it came with helps with my smalley stature. Five seconds into your ride confirmed exactly what we've found too, and a pair of fully adjustable Hagons are on order 😊
Congrats on your new bike. Celestial is very special indeed, I do like most of the tiers and colours but that one does pop. I had the supernova variety of the 350 Meteor...
I don't want this huge, heavy, underpowered thing!
That's good, as you don't have to have one 😉
A bit of blurry frivolity at the beginning🤣🤣 that ABR Festival looks amazing.
That just happened spontaneously so I just thought it would be fun to capture. Unfortunately the water container didn't cover enough so I had to add a blur on top 🤣🤣
There's always frivolity around here 😅
Dog is ok but we have always had pets cats and dogs just enjoying just one dog currently it will impact on your motorcycle tours.we wouldn’t be comfortable with carrying our little dog on the motorcycle.she loves the caravan holidays which would be difficult with a cat. Back to motorcycles the shotgun would be my pick but holding off until the classic is released before I make my decision, can only afford one bike two brands I currently like are Royal Enfield and cf moto. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the comment Malcolm. I agree about dogs and motorcycle tours even though Suzie does really want a dog. Also very much into Royal Enfield and CFmoto at the moment. Both amazing value...
Top job Sean & Suzie Very professional again 😊 not tried one yet but that black is my personal favorite cool looking machine. Ridden the meteor that’s nice, loving Suzie and the bench seat answer !! Correct ✅ 😂 she got you there lol 👍 Look forward to the next one 😊😊 Have a good weekend you two 🍺🍺⚽️
Thanks very much Phil. Hahaha, yes Suzie on point today, keeps me on my toes. You know what I'm toying with the idea of a Meteor along side the BSA... I'm just not riding the Daytona...
Nice video guys. Suzie looked great & did a marvelous job -go Suzie!! You guys work really well together. Keep up the great work mates! Have a lovely day! Cheers!! Your friends from the other side of the pond. Illinois, USA
Thanks very much Larry, really appreciate your support and encouragement on this channel. I hope you had a good 4th seeing friends and family. All the best 👍 , Sean
Morning from Australia FNQ had a new super meteor 650 in NZ moved to Australia and have a new Super Meteor 650 Really love this bike it does everything well and for the purchase price its a bargain.I ride it very hard at times and it just doesn't disappoint. Iam 67 and the comfort level for me is great 👍 😊😊
Thanks Steve, glad you are getting on well with your bike(s). I was going to have one but was tempted away by the BSA 😄
Adjust the rear shocks UP and it becomes a much more comfortable ride. Counterintuitive but works!
Thanks for the tip John, do you mean loosen off the preload? Apologies I'm not clear...
No Sean just the opposite, make the preload stiffer.
Another great review keep up the good work great team
Thanks Gary, it is our aim to have Suzie on as many of these as we can. It's fun for both of us. Hope you are well 🙏
I agree that it's more comfortable than the Intercepter. I used to have an Intercepter and I sold it because I just didn't like the riding position. If you like the Super Meteor but prefer a mid footpeg position, it would be easy enough to fit Shotgun mid controls on the Super Meteor as they have the the same frame. Just a thought.
Thanks Felix, now that is something I didn't think of. Great idea! Thanks 😊
Great review, thanks 🙂 I have the Celestial Blue, love it!. The screen works well with a screen extender, especially in winter. I agree about the buffeting from the screen without the extender. Cheers mate!
Thanks Felix. Appreciate the comment.
That was a beautiful road you were on. In spite of the traffic it looked like a very enjoyable ride. I would be interested to try the Super Meteor to see how it compared to the V-Twin cruisers I have ridden. In the past I've had trouble with the ergonomics of 'partially forward' type of controls you describe. Enjoyed the video, thanks for taking the time to put this one together!
Hi Mark. Well my mind was blown by the chap who said you could fit shotgun footpeg hangers to the SM650 as the have the same frame. Previously I thought the same as you forward pegs are a no no. Thanks 😊
It's a nice bike, the forward controls may bug me after a while. But for the money it's superb. Thanks for the mention. Love my 350👍 Good job Sean and Suzie🎉
Thanks Steve, appreciate that. Believe it or not I keep hankering after my old 350 Meteor, i shouldnt have sold her, I might have to join you in J series ownership again 😃. Cheers.
@@MindfulMotorcyclist yes I did get that impression. I get it though, as a only bike, I can see why people step up in power. The "J" is a lovely engine, you're right there 👍
You value 2 wheeled willies opinion?????? I went to a dealer to see one of these, sat on it for 2 seconds, that was enough to hate it.
I do like Willie a lot tbh and he's owned one of these so I asked him and talked to him about it beforehand. 😀
Hello Sean, I do enjoy your various reviews. Just the right mix of emotion and thought on familiar and unfamiliar machines, along with your joyfullness for our hobby/lifestyle. My RE of choice is a Hunter 350, as a stable mate to an 865 Bonneville. Soon I'll fit more aggressive tires to the Hunter as you've done on the Beezer. That long stroke single is a joy for light off road use. Good to see your Suzi on the reviews, and by all means keep her in focus !!😊
Hello Moto thanks for the comment. If you watched my visit to Hitchcock's video there was a Hunter in there with a big wide offroad front tyre. I'm afraid I don't know what brand it was but will you have options in a 17inch? I'm considering getting back into 350 ownership myself, really really love that engine. Thanks for the support. Sean
@@MindfulMotorcyclist Yes, proper dual sport tires for the Hunters 110/70-17 front have been quite limited. I'm seeing Indian made dual sports becoming available in the sizes needed from Ceat and Apollo on e-bay and some other cycle suppliers. Prices are reasonable, so that's the direction I'm looking.
nice bike , nice roads , and weather ,,, thanks for mention ;;
Thanks Simon! Appreciated 👏. Hope to see you back at Midwest again soon.
Sorry if it is off topic but when I see a woman with tattoos I'm immediately shocked. No go, red flag,...
Now look at that, and all this time I thought motorbikes and motorcyclists were all about freedom, about freedom in all its forms.
Best to stick to coronation street then unbelievable comment something my granny would have said and I'm 70 so a long time ago
Why make such an irrelevant and unnecessary comment, unless you're actually trying to undermine someone's self confidence that is. Men don't get to control women anymore thankfully. You need to drag yourself into this century.
I'm test riding one on Monday! However, the more I think about parting with 5+ thousand the more I think about a second hand v strom!
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the Voge. Good luck with the new bike whichever it is 😃
I'm with you on the braking, especially now I'm on a bigger bike, rear braking is more subtle, there's a time and a place for front braking and if you're "grabbing a handful" then it's probably poor planning or an emergency 😮 If you're a really forward thinking rider (or driver) brakes are just an option 😂 I watch the Motojitsu motorbike channel and his cornering advice is "slow in, fast out". I still prefer the Shotgun over the SM, a Classic wouldn't sway me but a Bullet would. There's not a lot between the two 350 models we already know, but I'd not be surprised if it is released. Good to hear that continuous improvement is RE's policy too. Finally, please please please get a second camera angle to capture more of the bike, even though Tenbury Wells looks quite nice 😂
The thing putting me off RE is the frequency of services and how expensive they are at the main dealer. If you are planning to do a lot of miles it does tend to negate the initially reasonable purchase cost compared to Japanese bikes.
Agreed, if you let the dealer touch it after the initial service. It's very simple to work on yourself, which keeps things cheap.
RE needs to tune in to check out what Sue wants cos those aesthetic notes from her at the end are on point!
The dog would need goggles and a leather jacket😂
A white silk scarf too!
Thanks guys once again for a very thorough and entertaining video. You work together beautifully. Glad you talked about braking, Sean and specifically rear brakes. I also use the rear brake often, because it was how I was taught many years ago. And every full stop that I make involves both brakes. Smoother and more efficient. Manufacturers put it there for good reason. Cheers and keep up the good work, Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦
The green Supermeteor does look nice. On the Shotgun front I saw all of the colour variations at a local dealers and surprisingly I liked the dark grey one best. Lack of transfers and the single colour did it for me. In the meantime I've gone with a Classic 350 Dark in black. I'll wait until March next year to see if I want to add or upgrade to a 650cc.
After an accident that broke my left ankle i bought a cruiser, Triumph America, but i just couldn't get on with this feet forward lark, kept hoping I'd get it but i never did and soon sold it.
4300 miles on my Super Meteor 650. Love it, especially with the AEW mufflers and YSS shocks.
Here in the US, cruisers dominate the market. Consequently, we are more familiar with the pros and cons of this genre. To obtain the low seat height common with cruisers, you get limited suspension travel, and typically more forward-mounted foot controls. Comparing the Shotgun with the Super Meteor, you find the Shotgun has more mid controls but a higher seat. It’s difficult to have a low seat and mid controls without compromising leg room. You’ll also find limited suspension travel comes with the low seat. I think the Shotgun has slightly longer rear shocks and a little plusher ride. I’ve owned several cruisers, and none have had a soft ride from the rear suspension. The biggest negative with the low seat is the stiff rear suspension. When the forward controls are combined with the stiff suspension, you find you can’t brace yourself against sharp impacts-that’s when your spine does the compressing. Takes getting used to. Only the larger, more expensive cruisers cope decently with this issue. They combine massive weight with a little better quality suspension to make the ride more tolerable. Rear brakes typically are more effective on cruisers due to their long wheelbase.
You have only 100 miles on this bike. Of course you will get jerkiness. Run it in then comeback. My Bullet completely changed after 2000 miles.
I have had a Scram, as my only bike, for the last 2 years. With panniers fitted it has served as daily commuter (20 miles per day) and as my weekly shopper. Costs me about £7 per week to run. I ride in a lot of city traffic and I haven't found any jerkiness in the throttle response. My previous bikes have included Shadow 1100s and a Triumph 865 Speedmaster. Planning on adding a second bike this year but I have no plans to sell the Scram. Only issue has been the clock, which seems unable to keep time and tells me that the tank is nearly empty when there is 7 litres left!
Stuart Fillingham’s partner also says the BSA is a comfortable pillion seat.
