@@MindfulMotorcyclist Hi Sean, three bikes but could have ridden more. I found last year and this, the problem with the larger manufacturers is that you have to go through a crazy flouted process to get a test ride. The niche (Harley / Zero) just want to see your license and then you are off riding. Waiting in long queues is not my thing but i had a few great rides. Next year, you should try this approach 👍 Three recordings in all but I could have done a lot more.

Ahh missed you! Had a great time. Did come off the Himmy on the Bridgestone but was a gentle one. Had a lesson on sunday and now at least have more of an idea re standing etc. (The Honda dirt bike and its throttle boy oh boy, had me dripping but the trainers were great). Was Dirt rides Uk, def recommend them.

This ABR festival is fast becoming the best place to see all the new bikes and it's located just 38mins ride from our house so whilst people are coming from all over Europe to camp we just turn up for the day! Again, really appreciate your kind words and thoughts for Suzie, that means a lot 😊🙂

Once you get used to the agricultural nature of the engine, it’s actually a lot of slow fun, my Himmi, got me, my good lady and all our camping kit to the abr, without too much fuss, a great bike for the money, glad you enjoyed the festival, it was our first time and we loved it, already booked for next year. I also did a 4500 mile tour across Europe last summer on the bike which was great as it forces you to take the smaller less well travelled roads BTW, that guy on the interceptor seemed a danger to himself and everyone else around him!

Thanks for the comment on the Himmy Peter, I do have a soft spot for it. It has no pretenses and the Scram 411 is such a bargain it allows people without large funds or newer riders to do great things on a motorcycle which is brill. As I mentioned it's also something where you ride slower and therefore safer. Talking of safer, yes that Inty rider was all sorts of weird riding...

Suzie that Hornet is nice, but you look pretty comfortable on that CBR600RR! 😃 Sean, I enjoyed your thoughts on the 411 platform. It has probably had its day, but as the first bike in their modern relaunch, it'll occupy a special place in RE history, I think. I was surprised to find myself getting hyped about the teasers for the Guerrilla 450. It was pretty obvious that the Sherpa engine would be going up against the Triumph 400 series, and it looks like it's beginning. Maybe I'm just invested in these companies more, so I'm projecting my emotions on the situation, but this seems different than the usual competition we get these days. Think of the Hornet/GS-8S/MT-07. They're all essentially going for the same consumers, but I don't see much aggression in the marketing. They seem to tune and outfit their bikes to appeal to different types of riders in the same segment. Conversely, this Triumph/RE affair feels like a title fight. They're going head-to-head by design, and they both aim to win. If Enfield comes out on top, and gets it in their head to liquid-cool the Interceptor, Triumph could find themselves in a heap of trouble... Maybe I'm getting carried away. What I do know is that this kind of direct competition is great for consumers.

Hi Mark, one of the most thought provoking comments we've had in a while, thank you. So my thoughts are that the mid range, naked Japanese bikes are essentially fighting it out and most people will have an idea of what bike they want before entering the showroom, typically from online reviews or past brand loyalty. In the case you mention the main media line is MT-07 fun wheelie machine (not that many people wheelie these days) but showing it's age. Hornet is small, top end powerful and twitchy but extremely good value and finally the 8S is now regarded as piping the Hornet as it has a peach of an engine more torque easily earning it's £1000 price premium on the Hornet. I'm not saying this is all true, those are the talking points promoted by the papers and magazines etc. With RE and Triumph it's a different buying journey as people buy them emotionally and it's more on the dealer to support the buyer and make the process as pleasing as possible. I also suspect that a lot of RE buyers walk into the showing not knowing which bike 350 or 650 to opt for. With respect to the title fight, Triumph have played a blinder with the t400s doing 300 units a month (they must be chinking glasses at Hinkley), mainly as they've priced it keenly. RE's 450 motor is reported to be not quite as strong as the Triumph and the new Himmy doesn't have free reign like the 411 did. There's lots more competition than in the old days. I personally wouldn't buy a 400+cc Triumph as I don't want to spend that much on a bike. RE for me offer a quality level I'm happy with and a good price... I'll be interested to see how the Guerrilla gets on!! Thanks Mark!

I have had a Scram, as my only bike, for the last 2 years. With panniers fitted it has served as daily commuter (20 miles per day) and as my weekly shopper. Costs me about £7 per week to run. I ride in a lot of city traffic and I haven't found any jerkiness in the throttle response. My previous bikes have included Shadow 1100s and a Triumph 865 Speedmaster. Planning on adding a second bike this year but I have no plans to sell the Scram. Only issue has been the clock, which seems unable to keep time and tells me that the tank is nearly empty when there is 7 litres left!

Hail and well met! Royal Enfield makes some fine Adventure bikes. To me, this class of scoot is fast becoming the gnu Touring motorbike. Buyers are loading them up with everything they want (and then sometimes complaining about the weight!) or feeeeeel they need to putt around town, commute or even *GASP*, tour on. Nothing wrong with that, really. But when these same folk start talking about the weight of these bikes they forget that they contribute to that tonnage by putting all their kit on it! The bigger versions from all marques are already huge and I don't mind that at all because I don't carry my motorbike, it carries me. The whiners then drop down to a smaller and lighter version but quickly load them up to heavyweight class again. This has resulted in what I term the "sAdventure" motorbike. It looks the part but is going nowhere with its owner. I neither saw nor heard any sadness from this video. Other than style, this is the natural progression of "the best years of our lives". From the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave (desperately working on not turning into the land of the Freak and the home of the Oh-So-Braaaaaaaaaaave!), thank you! SS

Hey guys. Great to see you together at the ABR, and Suze, glad you’re feeling better. It was a fun, relaxing ride on the Scram and a good honest review. For the right price I still think it could be a good user when you understand its limitations. The ABR is an event I’d like to experience at least once. Maybe I could arrange a trip across the Pond next year. Anything is possible. Am Incorrect in assuming that Suze might be in the market for her own bike? Cheers and safe riding, Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦

There is always one on a group ride that feels it is too slow a pace but you need to have a bit of restraint. There is one in my group who always rides to the front waits at the next junction and then overtakes everyone again. To me it was unusual that I saw multiple overtakes on this ride. Until not long ago the etiquette was very much that you just follow in a line and if your lucky the instructor gives you a quick blast on a straightway to feel the bikes pull. Hi guys, look like a great day out, test road the scram myself and yes the motor is agricultural compared to the classic 350 I rode immediately afterwards, but got to say I did like it, but the classic was the bike I chose, it just felt a better quality product, but here they are selling the scram at a smidge under €4000. Not a lover of group riding for all the reasons you showed us, 🥴 especially at junctions, would have a scram with all the Himmi kit on boxes etc suits me due to the more road biase good little tourer, When suzie bites the bullet, most bikes can be lowered with a linkage kit and dropping the forks through the yokes, good ride mate. ….. Oh and the group ride yes, what a disaster waiting to happen some of that riding was. The group leader on the debrief said we were the most well behaved group all day. To be honest it's very trendy to go to ABR and record for your socials (if you look in the description of my video I used the phrase 'can't beat 'em, join em). ABR is where all the famous motorcycle vloggers go like Itchy boots, girl with a bike, TMF usernamekate. These are all people with big audiences that have fans who want to meet them. To answer your question seriously yes the majority 98% of people there are not filming just having fun enjoying it.

Well...................I WAS going to have a nice couple of iced cherry buns, a mug of tea and a quiet sit down to watch Sean pootling and mooching around ABR. Yeah, so much for that idea. Within minutes, I look up at my screen, whilst innocently plotting a soution to navigate a lovely big cherry bun with mug in-hand, and........boom.......Suze, not only (chewing on knuckles) naked.......but(now whimpering)......jumping up and down with another couple of particularly amazing cherry buns bouncing around the screen. Fast-forward a few hours. I have now managed to find my extra strength heart pills and inhaler, clean up a mug of tea from various parts of the dining room, I think my Tena underwear is a casualty of war and........I just can't look at iced cherry buns in the same light any more. So thank you for trashing my house, clothes and reminding me of just how much fun pubescence was, all those many many years ago. My doctor says I should recover fine but has removed the first section of footage from your vlog(because I can't help myself). In honesty, mate, I have watched the vlog through but couldn't tell you what was on it. My doc reckons I should be talking again, soon.
