sweeney just sounds stereotypically gay in this, which is possible since he was in jail for 15 years (take a guess what happened in the showers) and doesn't return lovett's advances.

His singing helps remind me why singing is so beautiful and special to me. It's a gift for every listener, and there is so much happiness and love to give in every performance. I felt that when he sang this piece.

Really a shame when the audio crew ruins the entire performance for everyone. Literally cannot hear these talented kids over the music. Sad.

Thank you so much for this video. It is absolutely fascinating to hear the actors talk about their experiences performing Sondheim’s pieces, and also their memories of meeting him and even working with him. Julian Ovenden, in particular, reflected profoundly on his experiences and obviously has a genuine appreciation and respect for Stephen Sondheim’s works and legacy. I appreciated listening to everyone’s comments and thoughtful contributions.

Why hasn’t this show gone to Broadway? It was Sondheim’s last completed musical and I love it. It also contains his only gay love song, “You Are the Best Thing.”

A pink and yellow skylight To let the sun come streaming in, A Chinese courtyard filled with trees and flowers. A little house for Mama. A terra cotta kitchen, A paneled den for dreaming in, An open porch to while away the hours. A little house for Mama. No, A nice big house for Mama. "M" is for the mullioned windows, "O" is for the oriels, "T" is for the terrace made of tile, "H" is for the--uh-- "H" is for the hearthstone. Put them all together they spell "moth." A fireplace in every room To keep her warm and cheerful If she gets a chill, A bedroom facing south So she can look at the ocean When she awakens. A place to rest for Mama. A cozy nook, to read a book, With wallpaper from France. Mama likes to dance. So, a mirrored ballroom not too large, A sitting room I'll make my most exquisite Yet. A shady trellis breezeway When summer heat comes steaming in, To keep her cool to shield her from the showers. A little gift from Addie To Mama.
