👨‍💼 About Me
My name is Andrew Quinn. I'm a technology strategist and IT consultant. I've been working in IT for longer than I'd care to admit, starting with repairing computers while I was still in school and now helping large enterprises to define and deliver their technology strategy. I am passionate about technology and the opportunities it presents.

🎬 About The Channel
Keeping up with technology can be a challenge for IT pros, and many who have inherited the responsibility of a technology decision-maker don't have the time or the background to research everything they need to make informed decisions. I started this channel to provide answers to common questions brought to me in the field. I also sprinkle in some content that I think is interesting or fun, so you don't have to be a hardened sysadmin or stressed-out IT manager to find something useful here. Many of my subscribers just like technology!

    Hey mate, have all the requirements except a seventh GEN processor, which doesn’t make the requirements, although I have all other requirements. I’m using Rufus to create a bootable install will it work? Will Microsoft C cut support for that, considering the only thing that’s wrong with it is that it doesn’t run, an eighth GEN processor or above? Thanks.

    The manage-bde command is a preventative measure to make sure you have a copy of your key before you get locked out. If you're already locked out of your drive it won't work and you will need to use one of the other methods in the video to find your key.

    My power flipped off while I was on Steam. I turned my R11 back on and went into every recovery possible. I watched one video and went into safe mode. That didn’t work. Now I can not get back into safe mode. Every time the computer restarts it goes back to automatic repair. I’ve done every scan repair in commands. If I can just figure out how to get back into safe mode, and uninstall Steam, I think that will fix it. When I turn safe mode on and the computer restarts, I get the blue frowny face page, then the blue automatic repair page. Is there a way to get into safe mode?

    thank you for the info, it seems i dont have a TPM and older processor, but the main issue, i have is the much older programs i run, such as lotus approach, word pro, and some old games with win 10 patches, other 32bit progs. the question is will these still run? peronally i think that MS has over stepped the mark with WIN 11 extra security for all not just business. so being retired now an sending mails, playing music, watching the odd video /movie it seems so over kill, the cost of new parts are just so expensive, with a intel processor, ram an motherboard theres 600+. it just read like MS has done a deal with the hardware makers to boost their proffits. thanks for the great help

    CentOS Stream isn't CentOS. CentOS (rebranded CentOS Linux before being killed) is dead. CentOS Stream is still going, but serves a different purpose. IMO they should have used a different name for it to avoid confusion.

    This is very hard to fix this idk why but do you know how to fix a looping 0xc000021a without going to the regular screen where you have the search bar and stuff because it will send me to bsod or a screen where it scans for problems and it constantly shows that theres no problems and sends me a scare when it sends a loud beep. I seriously can't find other videos to help me fix this , i can't use command prompt and i cant get to the screen where you can enable safe mode so do yk how to fix this? Tysm if you do!

I'm just trying random things at this point to try and fix it and I've come up no where. I don't know what to do anymore and at this point I might just give up.

    It says “chkdsk is not available for raw drives” what do I do?

  • @ProTechShow
    @ProTechShow18 күн бұрын

    If the drive is raw it means Windows does not see any recognisable filesystem. To all intents and purposes the drive is blank. If you were expecting to see a Windows drive, your drive may have failed.

  • @PhoenixPilot
    @PhoenixPilot16 күн бұрын

    @@ProTechShow I have a raw drive, yeah. So there’s no way to repair it? It’s an Nividia RTX2060… i feel like I paid a lot just for it to “not be recognized by Windows”

  • @ProTechShow
    @ProTechShow15 күн бұрын

    @@PhoenixPilot If it's raw then Windows can't read it. If the hardware is fine you can wipe and reinstall, but I wouldn't like to make a blind guess at the underlying cause - it's something you'd be better off having someone take a look it. The data might still be recoverable if it's important.

    You should keep your hands in your pockets when you do a video. It's extremely annoying and distracting to see your hands flying all around when you're talking. ALSO, that distracting backround "music" isn't helping either. I will never understand why people feel they have to have noise in the backround when they talk. People are such sheep.

    I encrypted a 2nd HDD (D: drive) and it didn't give me a recovery key. Unfortunately "manage-bde -protectors -get d:" does not give a numerical password (or recovery key). Is it possible for Bitlocker to encrypt a drive without producing a recovery key?

  • @ProTechShow
    @ProTechShow15 күн бұрын

    Usually, if you encrypt a second drive the key for it gets stored on your C drive. You unlock C, and by doing so D will automatically be unlocked using the key stored on C. It is possible (although not typical) for a drive to be encrypted without generating a recovery key. If your drive is unlocked and you don't see a password for it using manage-bde then you ought to be able to create one of your own with "manage-bde -protectors -add D: -rp". Note that the manage-bde command is a preventative measure to make sure you have a copy of your key before you get locked out. If you're already locked out of your drive it won't work.
