The max extended height, and insertion length, for the overlap sticking out past the seatpost collar. The frame design and bike size are going to determine the dropper size, and the extension. It's gonna be a compromise in some situations. My hardtails have an advantage, even at different tube lengths and bends. Going with a 210mm dropper for the difference between them. Even still, a regular seatpost can be more beneficial, just not as convenient. So stop and drop it.
#AskGMBNTech Just got a new bike! Its my first bike with an air fork (Rockshox 100mm travel) What should my sag % be? Thanks!
7:58 yes, i'm using TPU tube for both MTB and road. Improves rolling resistance by a lot. It's hard to patch tho. Never going back to regular inner tubes ever.
My next mountain bike will have the Pinon gearbox, motor combination. I have broken too many derailers on my present bike.
you can keep your fancy, over-complicated, novelty drive trains
Think ill stick to my 2012 Cannondale flash headshok.
You call that revive?!?!? I need 30.0mm for my old and midschool Konas. Still nobody makes one.. what gives?@!
The leogang edr was awesome to watch last year
Biggest change for me have been proper pedals (wider q-factor and platform) and proper slack frame (even though I do mostly xc-trail). It transformed rides from scary to enjoyable to feel secure in the pedals and centered in the bike. The numbness in handling that a slacker bike has can be compensated by a shorter stem in my experience.
Sram*, not "shram". No "H" anywhere!
Aliexpress components - a cross between SRAM and sham.
Pitiful
If you real want max drop try to make it so the collar sits right flush with top of the seat tube and still extends to the full height you need which could mean getting one that needs shims to reduce it's extended height. However you can't all way's do that because of things like seats hitting the rear wheel at full compression. Often tall rides will have more seat post sticking out than they should and in fact could have a longer dropper so you get that seat way out the way when needed.
Price of the bike is usually in thousands of pounds and they still install cheap ass rotors and pads to save 3.99 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Anna’s helmet strap always looks very loose, is it safe? I get that this can be more comfortable though.
Much too wordy guys. A bit pedantic the way you draw things out
gear boxes will replace chains and gears in bikes, maybe slower in mnt bikes, but to be honest, most cyclists in the world are not mnt bikers. I watch your show, but I do not 'mnt bike', I commute and I tour. it's a matter of time and sorting out what seems to be too many manufacturers.
No they won't. No matter how efficient and low-maintenance they might be, they're also heavy and expensive. Chains and derailleurs do work, they're simple, cheap, lightweight and reliable - never change a running system.
Stumpjumper's are really bad for insertion depth because of the way the frame is and the bolt bosses for the pivots. Buying a pnw loan dropper post that has 25mm of adjustment without tools save me on two separate builds getting things perfect.
I bought a Priority 600x with the Pinion gear box and Gates belt drive. I know I am locked in but I love it. Durability and low maintenance are important and I think these components accomplish that. Small loss in efficiency perhaps, but not enough to make a difference for me.
Great video, very clear
😎great video, got the brand x accend 2 170mm dropper, sometimes in temperature changes it can get stuck, any suggestions please anna👍😉
Gearbox for me. No chain, sealed motor/box, low/no maintenance. Seems inevitable.
I was so confused when you said build acoustics
Havent used a dropper in 34 years of mtb. My new build doesnt have one. Only 1 situation in recent memory where I would have wanted one. To me its just more dead weight on already porky bikes. All I have to do is stand on the pedals and my seat drops. Another Industry "must have"😂
OK roadie 🤡
If you already have a dropper, you can drop it completely and measure from the bottom of the collar to the saddle rail to find the measurement to add to the drop to find the max stack height.
DW6 is a six bar design not a twin link layout
I bought my wife a Polygon D7 size small, it came with a 150mm dropper, I had to drop down to a 100mm setup to get her fitted.
7:43 what the HELL is that bike??? Do you have a video on it?
I'd say the absolute most L-XL bike frames should be able to fit in a 200mm dropper. Why even bother with a shorter one?
Because dropper posts are ment to be used at full extension and/or compression, you need the dropper's travel to either match or be slightly shorter than the distance to the frame, also as a bonus you get to save some weight. You would need to consider saddle height too since if you swap it you could end up offseting thr required travel, it's not a bad idea to leave some extra space just in case
I have a 2023 giant trance x29 large and it has a 175mm travel post I couldn't have longer, I'm normally constituted 6ft tall...
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
You are asking why would someone want a perfect fitting dropper post and the ability to also save weight on their bike? I would say you should never have children and keep the gene pool cleaner @InfectAion
Still waiting my hugene frame..........
#askgmbntech Is it possible to fit a 12s shimano cassette with 10t-45t with an XT RD SGS with a capacity of 10t-51t? Will it work?
Easy!WD-40 on rotors,speed them up!
Given the blowout pricincing on the last gen Fox Transfers, this video is prefrontal timed.
