KYD , Keep Your Daydream is an amazing channel !
The red chairs are actually placed in areas less popular to entice people to visit.
Hope your Alaskan trip was a great adventure. ....have a question, was wondering if ya'll knew what happened to YT channel Embracing detours?
Wow I think you missed a whole lot more just from the timing that you were here. If you do the Trenary Toast you should time your visit with the Outhouse races, yes they have outhouse races in Trenary in the winter this year was February 24 2024. Also if you went to Mackinac Island how did you miss the Fudge in your video? Yoopers have a name for everyone that flocks to the island we call them “Fudgies” as they seem to want to try all the different fudge flavors you can get and yes the majority of them say Pasty wrong. Speaking of Pasty, there is a huge divide between Pasty lovers and that is Ketchup or Gravy! Both sides are steadfast in using one or the other on their Pasty. I myself like the different flavors you can get in a Pasty, Pizza Pasty is my favorite, but there are a lot more (ham and cheese, chicken alfredo, breakfast pasty, sausage pasty, Moco Loco, then there are in my area what they call Snails rolled up in dough like a Pasty but they have sweets combined like Stawberry, Black berry, Cinnemon, you name it they make it. The place is called Gram’s Pasties and it is a small red building in Escanaba. They have been voted Best Pasty by local residents for 15 years in a row! Glad you visited Big Springs and Fayette as that area is where I grew up and live. Fayette also has Heritage days in August and that is a fun-time as well. There are so many other things to do in the UP but I am glad you left the title like that as we like to have tourist visit but as you may have found there are not a lot of 4 lane highways here. Just a majority of 2 lanes and lots of Deer, Porcupines, Raccoons, and Skunks crossing the roads (watch out for them). Have fun in your travels!
In the far western part of the UP is "The Lake in the Clouds", then in Hancock is the Quincy Mine, Near Eagle River is "The Jam Pot"
It may seem offensive to ask if you have a gun, but you have to remember we Canadians aren’t obsessed with owning guns especially because we don’t need or want them for protection. Sorry; not my fault America is no longer, the home of the brave and land of the free since you need a gun to be free.
People pay a lot more than that to ride a roller coaster and theme park! If it wasn’t for bears I would love to see all you are sharing.
Surprised they're Meat eaters 😂
Chena Hot Springs is a wonderful stop. Best time to go is in the winter as you can watch the aurora from the comfort of the outdoor pool. Did you take the alternative energy tour of their power plant and greenhouses? I take it that this is last year?
Welcome to Alaska, a lot of our place names will be based off native names and are hard to pronounce. Get used to paying premium, most of the state is in full tourism mode. Enjoy my home state, it is like no other and the weather changes hourly. Beware our state bird the mosquito. 🦟
Thanks for all the tips! We're starting to get familiar with the state bird already 😂
That looked like fun. I’ll just live through you. I hate the cold. That bar would not be a place for me. And the prices would scare my husband away. I think I would have loved the North Pole. I would need a lot of space for all the ornaments I would have purchased. And I would have definitely sent letters to my grandkids. One grandson I can think of for sure. He’s a wild child. Maybe he would straighten up if he knew Santa was watching.
Yes! They have letters for both good and bad kids, it was pretty funny. My niece may or may not have gotten the bad one 😂 And yes the bar prices were a bit too high for us.
Good luck with the Klondike Hwy and TOW. Lots of dirt, gravel and rocks. We stayed on the ALCAN last week and we still spend an hour at the power carwash in TOK. From Tok, we took our Honda CRV to Chicken one day, and that road from Tok was pretty rude, deep dips even for a car going to Chicken. The ALCAN is easier and quicker drive, but still dippy in places.
Yes, that part of the highway was awful! Definitely have a dirty truck camper after these roads lol.
Great video, guys!
Thanks so much!
Santa was a Grumpy Gus the day we were there...I think he got up on the wrong side of Mrs. Claus.
oh gosh 😂
Great video! Thank you for the honest info.
Glad it was helpful!
You talked about the feeling of Awe and excitement seeing the mountains and scenery, and it reminded me of my first Cruise, I woke up early and went out on deck of the ship and as far as the eye could see was water and as the sun rose over the horizon I felt so overwhelmed with just how beautiful the sunrise actually was, and just how small we were on the ocean, it was beautiful and humbling at the same time, and ever since that first morning on every cruise I have been on I always get up really early to watch the dawn break and the sunrise over the ocean.
That sounds absolutely magical. Thanks for sharing! It's always nice to get those reminders of how small we are.
Thank you for painting inside of cupboard doors. It looks horrible when people don't do that.more work, but nice.
I totally agree!
Couldn't see but a tilt out cover is a Godsend. Our 5er came with ours. Last trailer didn't have them. What a difference they make heat, wear n tear on tilt out roof. If you can swing it.I recommend them. You two did an outstanding job. Good team.
Holy crap on God you have my friend kicked that Camper's butt now it's time to work on her
Holding tank for a boat in CA = my husband hasn’t found anything that does both. Will send him the link.
Awesome! Let us know how he likes it!
After seeing your travels all these years, it's eye opening to see how easy the truck camper makes it for you, compared to your prior rig. Looking forward to seeing your next video. 😊
Right? We feel so much more flexible!
There aren’t parks in every state and the conditions of many are really poor. Amenities and facilities are often dramatically different and haven’t been maintained. Roads are horrific in some with potholes that will literally swallow your vehicle/trailer wheels.
I am Canadian and not too many people in Canada drink Labatt,s Blue ...mainly marketed to American,s .
But ebikes aren't allowed on mackinac?!
Uh Rae 😍😍 so pretty
I just had my neighbor say, dont ever use this on your rv seals. Lol. Only 1 in the world. It immediately made them supple, they were dry and crusty. Love it already. That was a dealer, trying to sabbatoge them so they would need to be fixed
i wonder if you can use it to protect the vinyl graphics on the side of the RV? Seems like it could?
You can't go to Mackinac without getting fudge and you really should try a "Yooper bar" from Saykles chocolatier's. There's another quick stop to make when you head North fromHighway 2 in Rapid river. THeres a small park that was a CCC camp Rapid river falls park . there's an artisan well there to top off your drinking water needs. My grandpa was at the camp in 1922. He lied about his age to work with the Civilian Conservation Corp.
If you know where you are going etc nothing happens. It is easier than getting into and out of Mexico. stop making it such as big deal and freaking everyone out.
Yoho and Kootenay National Parks are just as beautiful as Banff and Jasper and far less people.
The drinking on the long weekend was probably implemented due to young partiers. Just takes 1 to ruin it for all, most likely been damage to the campsite. The legal drinking age in Alberta is 18, most of the other provinces are 19.
Looks like Palisade tiles on the shower wall. I used those in our shower at home. Good job it all looks great. We are thinking of trading our class A for something smaller for Mexico trip!
Never heard of chicken Alaska! That’s pretty cool with the bar and underwear. I went to school with a couple of people from Alaska and they said they hardly ever saw darkness so you could never tell what time it was. I loved Canada myself living in Michigan we went there quite a bit. To different parts like Ontario, Toronto and other cities but can’t remember them. Can’t wait to see more video of Alaska. Your pies looked good! Have a great week and see you both soon! Safe travels.
You folks are awesome. Love the video outtakes, they made me chuckle. More info on cost involved would be appreciated. Miles traveled. Tolls? What did a meal cost, what did that beer cost. Cost of campgrounds and hotels. Cost of the activities you did. Agree change the negative title, I almost didn't click. Park entrance fees? Sales tax? Best way to fly to that location? Detroit? How much to rent the electric bicycles? More meal / restaurant reviews.
Stunning RV renovation!👍👍😍😍🤩🤩
if you go to nova scotia you should go to newfoundland too. if you like whiskey you can buy good canadian whiskey in canada you can't get in the states. there's two brewers beer/whiskey in whitehorse that make really good single malt.
Tank Tune-Up is on it's way - We've been FT for 4 years now and tried lots of tank additives - just happily finished a major test of Liquified (haven't dumped our tank in 8 weeks because of where we are parked) in upper 90's so the bar is set high, but decided to test Tank Tune up and see how it compares - We will be another 6 weeks at our current spot and temps are usually upper 90's -the low 100's those weeks ... I'm looking forward to seeing how Tank Tune-Up compares and holds up next to what we've been happily using for the past year now. Only reason I'm trying it is because I saw the time, research and care you put into your truck camper build project and figured if you put that kind of research and work into this, it's got a good chance of being the best in the market. Best wishes!
Yeah, dumb title.
I loved my time on the UP. Munising area and L’Anse .. Baraga Houghton areas
We experienced the exploding underwear during our visit to Chicken last summer, from the cutting of the "panties" to the stuffing of the cannin, to the lift off, and return to land!
Oh that’s too funny! We wish we could see the whole event.
Never buy an RV trailer with one axle.
You should deduct points for a cinnamon roll with raisins! 🚫 Raisins!
The Mile Post as you have probably gotten to use quite a bit now with the Miles and Miles of road with no cell service.
Easy straight forward crossing. Enjoy your trip.
I'd like to try the Pastie...
They're so good! We've had them a few times now that we've been to this area a couple years in a row.
This is a typical time share program. Pay thousands of dollars and than pay a yearly fee which increases every year. Most popular places are impossible to get into. Unless you purchase the most expensive plan, you don’t get yo go where you want. You can buy a used membership for thousands less. Really.
That looked like fun. I’m not sure I would feel very comfortable in the bar. But I have heard of Chicken, Alaska. And I have no idea why.
The bar with the Sourtoe cocktail or the one with all the undergarments? Both were fun but I can see how they aren't for everyone.
We were in Alaska the first part of July through the latter part of Aug in 2023. I knew about the 23 hrs of broad daylight while we were still at home, and thought about a sleep mask, tried it, claustrophobia made me ditch that idea after about 15 min. Opted for reflextic for the windows. It was a game changer. While hubby can sleep in broad daylight, I'm the exact opposite, and the total darkness totally worked. I agree, you lose track of time when it stays light all the time. We didn't take the "Top of the World Highway", we were worried about time since we only had a total of 2 months from start to finish...we live in east central Missouri.
Yes, Reflectix was a major help! I (Rae) also used a sleep mask because I hate any light when I sleep lol.
Virginia City is nice
It is! We'd love to make it back there one day.
So just a little correction because it was put out twice, Alaska is the 49th state not 50th. Hawaii is #50. Its an Alaskan thing... 😊 Hope you enjoy our little state and place some of us call home!
It’s THEIR 50th state that they have been to.
Hey, Skyler's comment is correct. We were talking about Alaska being the 50th state we visited 😄
