Flowers are Happiness and Gardens are Life! I hope you feel inspired to surround yourself with plants!!
We are Phaedra and Moroni, and we make a living off flowers. "Flowersteading" you could call it. Recently we have returned to our earlier roots and are adding veggies, fruits and some animals to the farm.
Our climate zone is: In Australia we are right on the edge of Mild Temperate (Zone 6) and Cool Temperate (Zone 7). In the USA this is close to zone 8B. Our lowest temperature in Winter is around -5 degrees Celsius, our top temperature in Summer reaches up to 42 degrees Celsius at least a couple of times each Summer.
This is the story of our farm, our property and our lifestyle. Enjoy!

If people have space, having Bunnies and / or Guinea Pigs is a great resource for the garden. Their poop doesn’t require any downtime, can go straight on, along with spent bedding, every time you clean their hutch 😊 And it can go into the compost as well.
Your husband is a darling with his support of you. What a keeper!! All my best wishes for your new journey ahead. Cheers ❤
Love the potatoes idea, will use
Love your videos thank you. I have learnt so much I live on mid north coast growing vegetables with intent to go to market this summer. I have planted flowers for my bees and have fallen in love with flowers Happy to see you growing veg also. You will get so much satisfaction filling the dinner plate with home grown produce I wish you all the very best. So many small businesses struggling. In time it will improve
I'm 3rd year in micro flower farmer and realised I need more natives or proteas etc to get through the winter, also making use of the fact dried flowers are making a come back. Thankyou for your videos, I grow in Victoria and appreciate you sharing.❤
Thank you and your husband for the tip about using marigold leaves! I am definitely going to have a go at that. I'm in a very humid climate and most likely have a lot more bugs than you, hence why smart people don't flower farm here. I'm up for the challenge, starting small as that is all my budget allows.
I absolutely loved seeing your little fellow at the end. Any content you share I would watch as I truly enjoy learning from you. Keep smiling. Warm Hugs Theresa
Morning Phaedra, it's fresh here in Coffs Harbour NSW. I enjoyed your video. Thank you. 😊
I love the nmusic
Thankyou!
Could you please share about your compost/massive pile of green waste 🙏 I’d like to know how to manage my pruning cuttings etc. thanks.
That’s a great idea! I’ve put it on my list :)
After 3 attempts I’m yet to get Billy buttons to grow
Me too 😭. I purchased the ones I was using here (from some kids who sell them off their parents farm where they grow wild!!!)
Great video and I like your music!😀
Thankyou Teresa!! Thanks for liking my music too! X
Agreed. Nothing wrong with the music, it’s soothing.
Thanks Sarah, that’s nice to say it’s soothing 🤍
Yes, very relaxing sounds...
Great video as always ❤
Thanks Sarah!!
that blue beanie really suits you.x
Thankyou!!!
I’m sorry but the music on your channel is aweful lol.
Thanks for letting me know. Could you let me know what you find awful about it please? 🙏🏻
@@phaedragardenessthe electric slide guitar is the culprit. It gives hot desert creepy movie vibes. Not relaxing like your scenery, but high strung nervy vibes.
Thankyou! Ok yep, that’s going then 😬
Phaedra, where did you get your hoops from?
Thankyou so much for your video, it's like a soothing balm to the soul after a week of solid rain in the cold Dandenongs 😊
It started raining here last night, I’m glad I got all of that done! Thanks for watching :)
Ok wow your rows look incredible. I'm excited to see the raspberry and strawberry harvests to come. I just started a raspberry patch last year from roots that I ordered on Etsy. The raspberries will be dual purpose though because they are a thornless variety and the greenery is gorgeous, lasting over two weeks in the vase. P.s. those glasses are so cute on you. 😊
Thankyou Krista! I should get some thornless ones. I love them but mine are too spiky to use.
It be nice for a hot milo and biscuits as it been so cold to do anything outside. Even today the wind is strong.
An excellent day for this Nettie!!
The little birds are soo adorable. I love the dual purpose space you are creating, what a great idea. I'm glad you're still going to be growing, you never know what might happen. The economy has to turn back around at some point hopefully. It's bad here in the U.S. also. I had a couple of ideas for you. Free veg with flower purchase? And an annual seedling sale of veg and flowers, kind of like what Common Farm Flowers did but with a twist where you donate a portion and can still collect a profit. And a free gardening class with purchase so they can learn how to care for their plants. Since you like to teach and you want to give back also. 😊
Thanks Krista!! Those are nice ideas 🤍. We have a couple of ladies selling veggie seedlings locally but I have been thinking of flowers seedlings! I think Moroni is going to make some of those bird houses for his garden customers. I thought the US might be having a similar situation. It sucks a bit doesn’t it. How’s your season going?
@@phaedragardeness I would love to purchase a bird feeder if Moroni makes more.
Wow he’s going to be chuffed about that!! Did you want to send us an email Rebekah? It’s [email protected]
YUM would you share the recipe to your soup. Looks delicious 😋
I’ll write it up and pop it in the description. I should have done that!! It’s pretty easy though. Cook some chopped onion, garlic and celery in the bottom of a pot. Add in chopped up chicken and cook that just a little. Then add in whatever veggies you like - we use carrot, Swede and I usually put in bok choy (the butts and the stems cut up. Not the leaves) then fill with water. I used 4 chicken stock cubes in mine but I usually have a home made vegetable stock. Then cook until everything is nice and soft! If you’ve got little carrots or parsnip or Swede or anyhribt to thin out throw those in!
@@phaedragardeness Thankyou 😊
Yum, do you have the recipe for the lemon Butter? I have two lemon trees to harvest.
Yes!! It’s: Lemon Butter 4 Eggs 3/4 cup Sugar 1/2 cup Lemon Juice 2 tsp finely grated lemon rind 125g butter, chopped Stove Instructions Place eggs and sugar in a bowl over a pan of boiling water (double boiler method). Whisk until sugar has dissolved. Add in all other ingredients and whisk for 15 mins while everything cooks and thickens up. Pour into steralised jars!
@@phaedragardeness thank you, I will give it a go😁
Have a cuppa on me Xx. I have also ‘wound back ‘ and pivoting the direction of Posie Farm. Please keep this channel going , I love it ❤
Bron Thankyou so so much! You are just so sweet. Xxx
Thanks for capturing your beautiful scenery and sharing. A winter break can be the ‘recharge’ that you need. I am thinking that you wouldn’t be doing all the ‘bed prep’ if you didn’t plan on growing flowers again 😊😊. You do make gorgeous bouquets.
This is true, I’m definitely still going to be growing flowers!
❤❤❤❤❤

Phaedra after working over 100 hours a week when I had the Lolly shop my brain didn’t cope very well with the abrupt closure. It happened one year ago now. That first month I cleaned our house from top to bottom, cleaned my candle and jewellery studio (been making candles and jewellery since 1992) the candles had been a nice bit of pocket change for many years but COVID saturated the market so everything is just packed up unless I need to make a few candles for my daughters Lolly shop in Bungendore. It’s been nice to get back to this cooler time of year, Im trellising my sweet peas, the cool weather plants that I started from seed including the chrysanthemums are still blooming and I am starting to pick daffodils already and some anenomies but not enough for bouquets so they bring a bit of colourful cheer to our kitchen table and a reminder that spring isn’t far away now. Im lucky to have recently gotten a job where I am teaching the elderly how to use their phones, iPads and computers and only work about 9-10 hours a week which helps me too avoid that dreaded Centrelink office. We’ve spent the past week fully enclosing our chicken run with bird mesh just in case we have to stop the girls free ranging our farm if the bird flu heads into our area. The tomatoes are growing beautifully in our high tunnel giving us a head start and we will start our vegetable and flower seeds next month. Don’t despair Spring is coming and winter is just happening to you this way this year as a way to force you into rest and recovery something as a mother we don’t do for ourselves unless its dropped into our laps beyond our control. In the height of this summer your going to look back at this winter and be excited knowing that you are going to use winter as your recovery time. That’s how Ive had to make sense of the changes in my life this past year. Keep smiling x
Maybe your next calling is full time KZreadr? Love your videos!
Love your videos no matter what you are doing. Definitely up for following wherever your new journey takes you 😊
Following your journey with interest, but that background music! It's probably just me, but its not good for my nervous system, far too dramatic and edgy. Just sayin...
I just said the same thing it’s horrible music.
Once you get all your raspberry canes out of your grass patch you could put sheep then pigs in there. They might get rid of the grass and roots. Especially if you say put sheep in to eat the grass right down and then seed in potato’s or daikon radish let them grow for one season and then put pigs in. I think the pigs would dig it all up. You could probably quite easily go through it with a rake after that. A lot of work but if you nail the system down you can use the method anywhere and continually provided you get some good temp fencing.
The little birdhouse is so cute!!
“I don’t plan on being pregnant again” Girllllll PREACH 😂
I’m commenting as I watch as the babe is sleeping and I’m expecting he’ll wake up any minute ha ha
God it’s beautiful where you live and surrounds!
Bloody love that rug
Try getting boudoir or bolster pillows for the recliners to support your lower back ☺️
I joined our local garden club one year and never made it to a single event either. So I did not renew my membership. Stressless recliners are super comfortable and look good. They do cost $ but are well worth it. Stressless chairs are the only chairs that are endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association. So not only are they comfortable, but they are good for your back and hips, plus they spin! We have one, we love it. Will you still be doing bouquets for the servo with your own flowers come spring?
I always close for the winter too. In NZ (probably same as Aussie) to buy flowers from wholesalers costs me too much and I hardly make a profit with my bouquets being so cheap at $35. I re open in spring and stay open all the way through till Mother’s Day. It’s totally not worth it durning winter!
Wow, you literally get no weeds at all...incredible! Have a look at the PRONG tools, they have a website, made by Marks friend. Best thing I've ever bought for digging. About $130 but so worth it.
The Red browed finches at the end are gorgeous.
Lovely scenery. I like making things beautiful during lulls and transitions too. And taking the time to see the beauty all around. And volunteering with community groups, such a fulfilling way to connect with people and explore life. Lovely white roses you got to bring home! That's really cool that the cemetery is setting an area for wildflowers.
I appreciate your humour with the grass bed and using a drone to film shifting your furniture. But the rake story, ow!! 😫
I enjoyed the animals in today's video. Red browed finches are SO sweet and this footage is amazing of such small flighty birds 😍
Wishing you and your beautiful family all the best moving forward. Tell Moroni the bird house is sweet, we have those birds too on the mid north coast NSW. Have a blessed day guys! 😊
Haha I bought the wooden flower crate for myself yesterday! I haven't seen the strawberry one, might have to go search 😊 so cute!
Aren’t they so cute!!
I don't understand the Australian unemployment system? It always felt like you are one bouquet away from financial ruin. Maybe it's the uncertainty in your voice on your vlogs? Can you claim unemployment or is that even necessary for your family? Thanks from the US.
We have a unemployment help (the agency is called Centrelink) and I could apply but it’s really a pain and very invasive they want to know everything. It is there if things get dire. Moroni is working as a gardener still. The economy has been effecting us for some time, it just got to the point it was costing more to stay open so we have closed for winter.
@@phaedragardeness Thanks for your answer. Enjoy the recharge time! 😘
I agree were supposed to be a first world country but our government is getting more corrupt
Sometimes hard closing one chapter...but lots of fun new adventures moving forward ; )
It is… life is an adventure
Is this a temporary shutdown? Did I miss a video where you talked about it?
I think you may have missed it! We closed for the winter as no one was buying flowers anymore (there are other florists closing too unfortunately, lots announcing they are closing their shop front to work from home also). I have a video a few weeks ago where I’m talking about it xx
@@phaedragardeness I think most of our flower farmers here - in the areas with very cold and snowy winters - close down because obviously they can't plant much outside. The ones with channels seem to spend a lot of time planning, growing seedlings, etc. during that time. I guess financially they prepare for that.
Very sad for you but gorgeous video.Beautiful landscape. Will you still grow flowers.I hope you have great success in whatever you do.
We live in a gorgeous area! Yes still growing flowers!! 🌸🌹💐🌷🌺🪷🌻🌼🌸🌾. I just might not be selling them like I used to. We will see come spring.
Wonderful!
Do you grow your own Gerbera daisies?
We don’t, but we should!
