    I think this is a great idea! I've seen people use undiluted shampoo and then don't take the time to adequately remove all shampoo from their dogs coat. That isn't a good thing for the dog's skin... it can cause skin irritations and hot spots and that does not feel nice for the poor dog. Try using less shampoo or this frothing method and more water for rinsing. Your dog will be much happier !! 🐾

    Personally since he’s a mini I’d go with the flying pig, Shernbao may be a bit too strong but if used on a lower setting still would work. I’d consider one of those two depending on what you were looking to spend 😊

    Why are the spm's for the Heinigers different when I look it up? All the ones I have seen have been 2,600-3,100...

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming

    That’s because they are measured in double strokes so compared to other brands that are measured in single strokes you have to double the spm. Hope that makes sense!

    My IGs try to jump of the counter… which is high risk for them to break legs upon landing. I just hold them with my knee to support their bottoms to make them feel more secure and clip nails into the kitchen sink. Except my youngest. She bites her nails into short dagger points. A quick tap with the grinder takes the razor sharpness off.

    What do you advise for the dogs hair between the toes / paw pads? I trim them occasionally I use treats when trimming the nails My Malinois has very dark nails so it would go down to trial & error at first. I use a cheap common nail file for the edges. Great instructive video, thanks

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGrooming16 күн бұрын

    Thank you! So happy to hear you found it helpful. If the hair is in the way it absolutely can be trimmed away (I’d use clippers if possible) if it can but pushed out of the way you can do that and hold it as well to keep it from falling back into place. In terms of dark nails just remember to trim off a bit at a time until you see a dark circle in the middle of the nail, once you reach that you want to slow down or stop. If it’s just a small black dot, proceed with caution, if it’s a large black dot stop there. Nail files work great! Same idea as a grinder but you just need a lot more patience lol

    Hi! Thanks for this video. Would you be able to demonstrate this same technique (the last toe you did) but when a dog is laying down? Like on their side. Its hard for my boy to stand long (bad bk legs) so he lays down when I do his nails, but I still cant get the quik receeded (Ive used clippers before and now I just use a grinder). OR would you say I could do the upside down setup even if he is laying on his side? Might be hard to see that way though huh.

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGrooming16 күн бұрын

    Hey! That’s a great idea. I will make a plan to do a video like that as it would be helpful to many! You can absolutely do it in the same way while they are laying on their side, might take a bit of practice to get the right angles to see properly but definitely do-able. I’ll try and get this content out soon!

  • @fannyasilberman7373

    Hi!! So I gave this a try on my boy. Went eh ok haha. Back feet went better than front. The front I feel like there isnt enough "space" to bend and lift the foot up a little to see the underneath side if that makes sense. I could kinda see the areas on the front toes when they were under themselves and him on his side, but still not as good as back ones. When you make that video let me know and ill check it out =) maybe ill get some tips from you for the front ones. @GoFetchDogGrooming

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGrooming12 күн бұрын

    It may take a bit of practice to get the angles right, can I ask do you have your dog flip sides or does he lay just on one side? I will try to make content for both scenarios so people have options though! But I think having a visual is easier than trying to explain generally so I did add it into the lineup I should hopefully have it filmed, edited and posted fairly soon! Hopefully by your next nail trim 😆

    Hi! He lays in one side usually but not all the way on side, he can lay all the way but then he'll prop himself back up still on the side but propped up not laying flat. I did try it again for his fronts and it's hard even for the paw that is closest up you know, just not enough room lol. Maybe if he lays all the way flat on side it may be better but can't get him to stay there long enough haha (not yet lol). I'll be on the lookout for your video of both scenarios =) @GoFetchDogGrooming

    Expose the quick. I'm scared. Stop before the quick right, if they bleed is bad right?

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGrooming28 күн бұрын

    Yes! Same concept as regular nail trimming stop when you see a black or pink dot that takes up most of the nail bed. This is before they start bleeding! But the difference is you trim off the sides, the front and the back so that its as short as possible from all angles, this will help push it back since there is no hard nail casing around it. I do have a long form video linked in this video that demonstrates it on my own dog that could be helpful if you are a visual learner 🙂

    @GoFetchDogGrooming OK, I do use a grinder & file around after the cut. I have to, or they would be wonky &she visits some thin-skinned older people & I don't want her Freddy Kruegering them. I just am always petrified of injuring my dog.

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGrooming28 күн бұрын

    Real question here is the quick like a nerve or excess hair of a dog?

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGrooming28 күн бұрын

    The quick essentially is a dog’s cuticle BUT it does contain nerve endings and blood vessels and that’s why it bleeds when clipped too far, and dogs obviously do not like that because it’s painful!

    Very interesting thank you! My 3 years old rescue dog wouldn't let me or the groomer or the vet touch her feet.. She had to have anesthesia during her dental to have her nails shortened to the maximum (black nails).. She is restless and keeps moving all the time which makes the thing dangerous for her. Maximum treats are used all the time but noway!! In addition, she is a very energetic breed. I purchased a file hoping she allows me to do it soon while they are still short. .. Although it will take ages to trim. They grow approximately 3 to 4 mm per month.. She run on grass and sand, so cannot use them very much😢

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGroomingАй бұрын

    Sounds like you’re doing your best! It can be a long process particularly for rescues. Hoping the file works well for you guys, but just keep giving her treats for any interactions with her paws and/or the file. It could take much longer than others but eventually it should become a good thing! If her diet allows as well gives her lots of really high value food such as a good stinky cheese 😁 fingers crossed 🤞🏻

    Noooooo!!!!! Frothing shampoo defeats the purpose. Once frothed, it can no longer stick to the dirt properly. Think about your laundry. To get a stain, you pretreat. You don’t use frothed detergent.

  • @GoFetchDogGrooming
    @GoFetchDogGroomingАй бұрын

    You are absolutely correct in the sense of stain removal! Dog bathing in some regards is similar to laundry, to treat a stain or heavily soiled areas you want to apply it directly to penetrate (preferably on a dry coat because water dilutes) BUT this would only apply for spot treating a dog, so sometimes I apply directly to dirty feet, stained areas, greasy ears etc but there’s no need to apply undiluted shampoo as a full bath all over. The reason being is that dog shampoo is meant to be diluted as it’s heavily concentrated (again in terms of laundry, consider the concentrated soap or pods that then mix with the water and clean your clothes) this isn’t really different in terms of all the tried and true ways of washing a pup! Most use mixing bottles, recirculating system or foaming spray nozzles which all dilute down the shampoo (which some can be diluted as much as 50:1!) the frothing method actually overall uses less water and is therefore less diluted. It’s a great way for particularly mobile groomers to use less shampoo and less water since they have the need to conserve. Frothing simply activates the emulsifiers, this actually makes it easier to spread out and helps it actually stay on top of the dirt. I think it’s a great tool to have for certain dogs as I like to use different methods depending on the dog that is in front of me!

    My two year old lab loves getting her nails cut though I’m not sure if it’s because she gets a treats. She knows what “nail cut” means. We do it on the floor though and she just lays on her back. I give her a treat (normal food) after every nail. When I’m done she gets a nice rewarding treat though. Iv recently started sanding her nails with a file so they are so sharp. A grinder would fix that but I don’t know how she would feel about it.

    For the first tip. If I use a grinder on a small dog, I can't bend her leg backwards into the natural position, because the grinder is big and hard to stuck underneath her and will eat her furnishing or her belly fur, even tho the breed is a square-shaped build (mini schnauzer). I can do this with my bigger dog.

    I also just learned about shaving the law pad fluff. I had never ever heard about that. So I thought my dogs were sliding because of their nails. I tried: nails they slip till slide. We have rugs everywhere, and once I started trimming the fluff when I do their nails they stopped sliding. Who knew? Not me. I didn’t know that. Hahahaha. I loved your video.❤

    Yes! It really helps especially on older or bigger dogs to remove the paw pad hair in order to help them with stability! Plus when you use the grinder it’s just less to worry about!

    This is helpful. But dear lord my Pyrenees lays down so awkward positions and elevation are….not always happening. We do our very best. He was a rough rescue and it took me months of learning and loving and doing one law at a time. But now we clip and grind fairly easily. Just not as short as I want. Every other week he grudgingly gives me a few minutes of his patience. But when he’s done he’s done. lol. Yes to the powder because if you’re clipping at home it’s just going to happen. He’s good but the girl has black nails and randomly will pull so I have hit a quick every other clip. She lets me grind them. And weirdly will put her paw on my lap if I’m filing my nails and I can pretend file hers with my nail file.

    Hey you gotta do what you gotta do! Can’t win them all! I have a couple of older big pups who lay on the floor and I do their nails as well, I try and get them to lay on their side if possible since that’s still the easiest way to not have those awkward angles but it doesn’t always happen. Glad to hear you guys have a good routine though! 😊

    I use the Shernbao Typhoon Dual Motor! But if I could afford it I would definitely love to have the K9 III, that is just an absolute powerhouse. If you have a smaller dog though, it could be too powerful! The smaller Shernbao would do a great job for a deshed on a smaller pup!
