I gotta say, part of the problem you were having with Rogue Masters was definitely a player problem. The potions heal characters next to you; that's your hint to make formations when you can. That said, most of your criticism is valid. Dark Souls is almost the exact opposite of fighting in formation, and designing a formation fighting game with combat almost exactly like DS gave everyone the wrong impression. It'd be better if they scrapped dodging altogether along with parrying and whatever else DS uses in favor of some kind of ability that encourages working with your team. Just not cooldown powers. That's a bad suggestion. Cooldowns suck.

The pawn having a very good parry makes so much sense with how a pawn can only attack if after someone missteps into range.

With Stonemachia, it might work better if, instead of a parry automatically dealing damage, each successful parry built up power that, when filled, could be released. Like the Royal Guard style in the Devil May Cry games.

Personally i love longer videos, you can either fit more games or show them for longer time, either way i like it a lot. I am aware they need more time to make but still i think it's great idea to make 1-2+ hours vids. And this one got LOT of views in one day so i guess lot of people like that format

This isn't a new game or very souls-like, but Beyond Good & Evil is my go-to recommendation if someone's asking me for my favorite games. The combat is the weakest part of the game, I think, but it does have a dodge roll! Overall, I love the atmosphere and music and story and characters - if you showcased it, it might inspire some copycats frim indie devs or start some buzz around the (10 years in development) sequel!

I feel like you could extend "more soulslike" to just generic "steam dumpster diving. This series could be your gateway out of making only souls content. Dunkey left League behind him and expanded his audience in the process. Maybe theres a chance you could do the same.

Honestly, negative user reviews usually have nothing to do with the quality of the game. In my experience, a good 75 percent of them are complaints about how the game isn't what they imagined win their head it would be, which is not a review of a game, or people panning games for really trivial reasons, like personal politics or optional purchases or people blaming the hame for their own inadequacies. It's rarely anything to do with the actual quality of the core game and how successful it is at doing what it set out to do. It reminds me of a quote i heard. Something like "when everyone thinks they're a professional critic, everything will get bad reviews". For example, I recently saw a guy pan fallout with only the phrase "woke trash". Not 76, which would have still been comedically stupid, but freaking fallout 4. A game that's near universally beloved and has been out since 2015. The review was from april 2024. I have no idea what that word even means to those people anymore. Maybe bugs are woke now lol

It's kind of crazy in a soulslike where your ONLY combat style is magic, you still use the terrible fromsoft magic controls. That system has been horribly outdated since ds3, and even in those games magic is mostly secondary in combat. I'm giving the solo dev the benefit of the doubt though and hoping that's mostly just a placeholder while they get a feel for what they want the game to be, and then later on they can add something useable. I hope they keep it up, it could definitely be a little gem in the rough.

Losing durability after dying is something I like to call a "lose more" mechanic. You've already been punished for dying by dying. What does durability offer as a mechanic then? A time waster and nothing else. It's the same with the inventory management. It's not like there isn't a solution and the mechanic is meant to make you make hard choices about what to pick up, no, it's almost purposefully designed to take you out of the game and make you spend time taxiing items around (or repairing, or farming for items to make food). I think BotW did it better, though I'm still not sure that I'll ever be a fan.
