Well if you are In Texas you have two choices holt or warren, well I guess mustang too. I’ve worked for holt and now work for warren. Warren is 10 times better all the way around. Especially in pay. Warren also offers a rotational program in west Texas which is what I’m doing.

@CarlosMorales-dj5kq that’s where I live as well. Holt isn’t terrible. Lots of good people. But for me they just don’t pay enough.
@@TexasEmpire Im fine if I have to move or commute to work, so which one would be more willing to hire someone who has only worked on helicopters in the military, gas engine trucks and cars for personal use, and is going to school for Diesel technology? Cat isn’t my only choice, John Deere is what else I was thinking of pursuing, but honestly it’s whoever I can get in with the experience I have.
@@CarlosMorales-dj5kq so at warren we do a thing where we send people to car school for a couple weeks then you return to your home shop for a couple weeks and you do that on and off for like 3 months. You can get hired on at both though. They are both pretty good about taking nobody and making them into somebody as long as you put in the effort. That’s what happened with me. I had pretty much zero experience.

When I was 18 years old i am 67 now I bought a new Snap-On box on payments with a downpayment, after being given a craftsman box. The Snap-On dealer took the Craftsman box in trade for its retail value when the Craftsman box was a week old. I bought the box in the 1970’s the box is still fully functional, the box was a “Airport box” I got complements on box, since the day I had it, & I loved it when I was wrenching because it was a large tabletop box, & I mounted a vise on it. I no longer wrench for a living, I’ve been doing real estate for the last 20 years. But I wrench on all my own stuff. I recently traded the empty box for a Mercedes Benz engine with a young mechanic that wanted the box but couldn’t afford it. I have 6 top & bottom other toolboxes. Bottom line, you don’t need an expensive box, you need tools, buy decent tools, to get things done. The tools will make you money. Is a nice Mac, Snap-On… box super nice, & functional? YES, but you are better off with tools to do the job, so you can earn money. Take this guys advise & buy decent tools to get started, you’ll be glad you did. You might be able to buy a nice box from a tech that is ready to upgrade. Save your money, & get your work done. Save up about $5,000 before you start spending money, & always have $5,000 in your bank account & you’ll always be rich. You’ll love your job even more, & you’ll always money for lunch, & to pay your rent, or mortgage. You won’t have anyone on your back. Keep on wrenching your work is valuable, you are doing your part to keep the economy going. Have a good full productive quality of life. Keep on wrenching!
I have over 30 years of turning wrenches, you definitely gave some good advice regarding what tools you need to get in the door. As a new mechanic you don’t want to be asking to barrow tools from someone else. That someone else uses his tools as an extension of his hand. Great advice 33:26 , can’t wait to see your other videos.

Buy a small piece adjacent to are surrounded by large tracts of land that are well managed and take advantage of the heavy lifting thats been done at someone elses expense, i.e. their time, effort, and money and sneak in a small piece and shoot everything decent that walks off their place, because a 10 acre or less tract will not hold deer. All of these small tract videos fail to always mention this factor, but without large adjoining lands that hold deer already your not holding deer on a 10 acre or less tract. Recognize

Exclent video! I worked 18 years on heavy equipment, now retired, and I approve of this video. At the time, the ratchet wrenches were not available. Sense they have came avaliable I have always thought they would be a waste of money because there are places where standard combination wrench ends will not fit. However, I can see them as your specially needed as time savers to help you be more efficient. OH! The never-ending ending income grabbing tool purchases. I can't say for sure of the need for the ratchet wrenches, but the angle and specitaly wrenches are definitely necessary on hydraulics. I have just learned that Harbor Fright's Pitsburg line has the short specially sets.

Astro makes probably the best bang for your buck air tools in my opinion, the Thor v2 1/2 will do just about everything. The Thor v2 3/4 is really handy for tracks. I have the snap on battery power tools and honestly I like them but the DeWalt dcf 900 would be your best bet starting 1/2 cordless. I've got John Deere SAE wrenches and some bigger John Deere and Pittsburgh. I've got an old set of snap on FD+ wrenches in metric from when I worked on cars. I also heavily suggest avoiding comfort grips and going for hard handle and chromes. They stay clean way longer. I've got the EZ red flex head 24 inch 1/2 ratchet. It works pretty great. If you really need a 3/4 ratchet I like the snap on L872 but I'm pretty sure Williams makes a similar head and I'm not sure about different pull handles with it. Don't bother with the blue point hex kits to start, gear wrench makes a great kit also.
Don’t every apologize for what have. You have more than I had 25 years ago. When you up grade your heel bar get the snap on heel bars. Buy two of the big and two of the smaller ones. I have used them all but the snap is superior and design.

Lol it’s crazy how much shit we need. I just do semis and stuf but it’s pretty much the same except everything I use is usually 1/2 inch. But I know sometime in the future we will be getting electric trucks so I’m sure that will be more money we will have to spend on tools
I know this is 3 years later lol. But instead of buying tool truck punches, just buy Mayhew. You can buy them at a bunch of different places. Most tool trucks rebrand those ones anyway
You won’t be disappointed going to the dark side with your picks use my same set since I started only bent or broke tips 2 times and both was bc I was using them for something I shouldn’t, lots of by co works run gear wrench and cornwell I like both but the brake far more often than my snap on
Ive been working on and off in diesel world heavy trucks/ light duty pick ups for the last 4 years only thing i would get all horned up about snap on or expensive stuff is ratchets screw drivers pry bars or as u said anything your gonna break i have a rule when talking to guys starting out is buy everything cheap China whatever u want to call it find out what u like and if u break it buy expensive
