Andrews Art & Scale models
Born and raised in Victoria Australia. I have been scale modelling since I was 6. I am a lover of Science fiction such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and Firefly to name my favourites. I also have a keen interest in military history and military vehicles. I would consider myself an amateur artist as well, so I might subject you to my drawings from time to time.
With my you tube channel I aim to show concise and accurate model kit reviews and modelling tips for modellers of all skill levels and interests. I hope to help people get more enjoyment out of the hobby and increase their skill base.

Hey mate. Where have you gone?
Hi mate. Life got in the way unfortunately. Hoping to make a comeback soon I hope.
@@andrewsartscalemodels I’ll look forward to that
Fantastic!
I really like the way you did that paint job. Well done mate. 🇦🇺
Where I can buy this model set?
Thank you, this video helped a lot; I used it on a Bergepanzer Tiger (P). Your method is quite easy, I just don't get how do you apply such a nice, even layer of the putty - I always needed to sand it down afterwards :P
Glad it worked mate. 🙂 application is just practice.
I found the King Tiger easy compared to this.
Will it fit the halcyon dropship plz??where can i get apc?
Is there a chance for these zimmerit decals to fall of when handling the model during its build and paint process?
Potentially. Bed them in well and give the model a coat of lacquer clear and it should be fine
@@andrewsartscalemodels do you think adding a little CA glue on the edges to reinforce it is a good idea?
@@GeorgiGeorgiev-sm3lx it's been a while since I did this model. I actually think I did that on some pieces. But only edges
@@andrewsartscalemodels thanks! Will use the advices you give in the video
@GeorgiGeorgiev-sm3lx more than welcome mate. Best of luck.
If I buy this Kidult, I plan to completely remodel the interior and exterior! 8:37
The interior instrument panel will be printed on decal paper as a digital instrument panel and attached, and the exterior will be painted in the 112 police version and police marks and logos will be attached, or painted with an airbrush! 8:37
We picked this model up at a garage sale. Opened it and there doesn’t seem to be anything about painting it, does anyone have a paint key?
I love the paint layout on this model. Such a pretty colour scheme. I have this very one in the stash too!
I built a couple of these way back in the 80's both the normal display stand and the flight display version (ROTJ), they both became victims to thunderbolts and double happy's one guy fawkes night. You could pick one up for like $19.95 nzd each back then compared to over the top scalper prices of around $200- $300 per kit these days. Hopefully Round 2 is in the process of retooling these for future release like they have with the rest of the ERTL/MPC Star Wars model kit range in their 1.32-ish scale. Great kits and easy and fun to build.
タミヤの名作 ビンテージキット
Got one for myself🤘👍🤘🤘
That is without a doubt one of the best detailing jobs I've ever seen on a model of Galactica. She looks amazing!
Wow! Thank you
Excellent work!
G has blisters on the cowling you have them in both kits..they are not in the instructions...same kit
Try taking old dvd players and video players apart, you would be surprised to see what rollers are in them. Unplug first,
Glad you told me to unplug it first lol 😆. Have we met? You seen to know about my forgetfulness. 🤣
No I just no modellers. Haha
I've just bought this kit. I haven't built anything for decades now, and this kit was half the price of other 1/35 armoured models, so if I do screw it up it hasn't cost me much.
The old tamiya kits are a great starting point, mate. Good quality and inexpensive. Their new kits are even better but with a higher price tag, obviously.
have you by any chance compared it to airfix's new tool? i had a good experience with my trumpeter abrams, but i suppose the brand new airfix will be superior
Hi. No I haven't had a look at that. I have liked pretty much all the new airfix kits that I have had a look at however.
Does the box contains glue and colors ?
Nope
Did the wheels fit like shit
A little week, but not bad.
great work 👌 that old tamiya kit is definitely worth picking up.
I’m looking to do the same kit here soon. Just out of curiosity what was the red you used for the stripes underneath, up front, and in front of the hanger pods?
It was a tamiya red. X-7 I think.
@@andrewsartscalemodels thank you
kit came out in 05 as well
Great Build Great camouflage paint job.
Thanks mate. I appreciate it
Morning mate! WOuldnt happen to have a list of the extra bits/brand you used would you?
Hi mate, it was a set from legend productions.
Just building a set of Friulmodel tracks for mine now. Love your work, nice paint screem
Коробки у ,тамии. всегда были качественными....дпже для перепака.😉😂
It's an okay kit, just...okay.
Zelensky will take it!
you will spend time to rebuild details 👍
Kinda late to this but do you have a finished pic of this tank available?
The kits how much is it.. 8:45
I don't recall, mate. I think I picked it up for around 20-25 ish?

WOW! Thank you so much mate
G’day Andrew. Since I last left a comment I have started spraying Vallejo again with a special thinner mix and it goes on like a dream. Beautiful paint.
Yeah I love it. Works a treat.
It is 100% accurate........if you build it as is, its a replica of the one they used for filming the escape from Hoth. It went up for auction on propstore.
Although i dont think i will get a reply, but is the kit good?
Yeah mate. Its a fun build.
great kit! and btw if youve built ut before(which im pretty sure u have bc u said so in the video), can u tell me the articulation points? like can the turret turn around can the gun move up and down
i have had the old 1/2500 scale ships from the 90's .. years ago i got the DS9 set .. and those had the full decals but they were lost before i got to the kit .. few days ago (after watching this vid) i bought the Ent 3 pc set 1701 A and B ... wile the TOS and TMP are much better then the 90's version (they were glue only and you could never get the warp engines right) the Ent B is worse then the fist version of the B C and E 3 pc set (that was glue AND snap) even though all the ships still look the same as they did in first versions (panel lines ect) i did find the motion pic set on ebay and its on its way il see how those are since its yet another version of the TMP ent i do have to say OMG these full decals are a PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 days in and still putting decals on the Ent B and TMP havent even started the TOS version .... i do have to say with these decals Micro Set and or Micro Sol is a MUST!!! these simple models make me hate the 2500 scale cuz of the decals and how hard they are .. a scale i have sworn by since they came out cuz they were easy to display .. vs the hudge 1/1400 Galaxy .. at least i think it was 1400 maybe it was 1/1000 it was like 2-3 foot lone detailed as hell and has the Primary and battle section anyways ... il update you once i check the TMP set
nice video mate, I recently bought this kit from suome guy who had kept it for all this time (the 1985 ver.) and am excitedly waiting for it to arrive... keep making vids mate !! really cool stuffs
nice models i have an e100 heavy tank and it came with a load of springs for the suspnsion and photo etch and a metal barrel what a brilliant kit. have fun mate
This was a fun build. Not without its flaws but still a good little kit.
Bandi gets tons of details on there even smaller scale models like the SD and SSD and those models are older then these
Nice work!. Darth Vader would love you for it.. cheers mate 👍🇳🇿
Thanks mate. Glad you like it.
I am thinking of buying this kit but i dont understand how the tracks Works its says 102 track links but exactly what is one track link? Is it 1 track and the other one and the on top the tip that make it workable? Can someone please explain what is one track ?
Haven't built it mate. I would count how many parts you have and try to work it out from there.
Whith tamiya every time l'excellence.
Is there another DS1 kit anywhere at all thats a good model? Looking for one to hang from a shelf preferbaly with white rgb inside it. And love your honesty! lol
Hi mate. Sorry to say that I don't know of any other kit than this one. Glad you liked the video 👍
Going to build this kit soon, a destroyed Panther version, will try this out for sure. Zimmerit was on 5 mm thick, convert that to 1/35 scale and it's .14 mm's which I believe can be achieved using this method. Thanks for the share!
Cool model.
G'day Andrew. I know you painted this many years ago, but I would like to ask what your experience was like with the Vallejo paints? Currently working on a Tamiya Panther with AK Real Colours (lacquer). However, for the next project I intend using some of my Vallejo colours to see how they hold up. Really enjoyed your build of this beauty! Cheers from Melbourne.
A fellow Melbourneite! Thanks mate, glad you liked it. The Vallejo acrylics preformed beautifully. As a tamiya acrylic fan it was a little out of my comfort zone at first, however I have added many of the Vallejo range to my collection now. They are somewhat thinner than Tamiya I found, that said I still thinned them for use in the airbrush as I usually work at lower PSI range. Being able to drop measure straight from the bottle was also a big help. I find that they are easy to get thinned properly (don't know why), than the Tamiya range as well. I have never airbrushed Lacquer so I am not sure how they compare in that regard. Might see you at the Australian model expo this year. If you enter any models let me know I would love to take a look.
@@andrewsartscalemodels I will be going this year on the Sunday to the swap and sell, and then head down to the show. I am also on Scalemates as Isti65. Like you, I also spray at low psi-10-15psi, for 99% of my airbrushing. I did have trouble with Vallejo, but since then I watched a video from a bloke called Are We There Yet Modelling who did a really good video on an excellent thinning mixture to use. Beautiful smooth paints.
