Neuman had it coming given she prevented Vought from Testifying in Season 2 and killed Susan Raynor of the CIA, gave up Ryan to Homelander in Season 3 which is child endangerment and prevented Butcher and Soldier Boy from killing Homelander, and has murdered and screwed over people left and right. Its funny how people say Butcher fucked up by killing Neuman, which is fair, but also he and Starlight both fucked up last season, butcher ignored Mallory's phone call and went back on the deal, and Starlight prioritized Soldier Boy over Homelander too and Starlight screwed up in season 3 with Soldier Boy similarly to how Butcher screwed up in Season 4 with Neuman.

Grace threatened to lock Ryan in an underground bunker that is basically indestructible and put him to sleep with Halothane when all he wanted was to have a moment to think about what they told him, and she was clearly about to go through with said threat. Ryan had to push her if he wanted to get out, and the panic just caused him to push a bit too hard (it's been established that he doesn't have too much control over his strength). I respect you for being openly sympathetic to John (Homelander), but I don't understand how anyone could blame Ryan for what Grace did to herself.

its not a product of compound v, tek knights tumor affected a part of his brain and gave him a weird kink, while homelanders upbringing without a mother led to to have mommy issues. their privilege due to being supes led to both afflictions being brought to a higher extreme than they would have in a regular human. tek knights also rich as shit

i think ryan deserves a little more grace, because homelander has basically molded him ever since ryan left becca. lying saying the starlighter he lasered was a pedo, all this other stuff. homelander is still his dad and ryan’s still a vulnerable 9-10 year old boy in season one, and not much older now. living in a fake model neighborhood until his father came and showed him the truth, he feels close to his dad because he told him the truth. homelander even comforted him after he went into the outside world for the first time and panicked. to us, we know homelander is awful. to ryan, homelander is just a traumatized man trying to be a good affectionate dad. he really had no clue up until now when grace tells him, only seeing snippets of his unstable and abusive behavior before. ryan is a confused little kid, and in such a different mindset than any stable adult would be. he has all these adults around him telling him conflicting information and what he should do, it makes sense he would finally lash out when grace is trying to keep him trapped in a room she says she could knock him out and trap him in

I thought this was the best season finale and many of the actors had their best performances this season imo. I felt bad for Hughie all season. In earlier episodes I kinda felt kimiko was actually really lying to frenchie I felt like her getting drunk was also her not knowing how she felt or doing with it but her and frencies pasts helped them forgive themselves. I'm really nervous about some season 5. The ending was heartbreaking for me but I also loved Annie getting even more powerful. She can actually fly faster than Homelander she is literally a star

As for this season. I actually really liked it. Not all of it, but certain developments and character arcs. Oh and the acting, even this episode was incredible. Annie's actor's double acting duty, Butcher's tearing up saying what he genuinely seemed to believe would be his final farewell to Hughie, and John's actor, always managing to find new ways of seeming unhinged and crazed, even with just his facial expressions. I agree with you over Hughie though, and this season. I thought the small conflict with Annie in this episode did make sense, because I do think Annie has some certain insecurities, and the shape shifter seems incredibly manipulative, but also quite cunning. They did after all get quite intense with their analysis of Annie, and probably called them out on some self doubt issues and insecurities they had. Like they straight up taunted them over how they proposed to Hughie and the sex they were having.. Unlike many shape shifters in other stories, this one got to have access to the person they shifted into, memories and insights into them via that... Thats an incredible potent tool as far as the ability to manipulate and mess with people. So to me, Annie was just being frustrated, upset, emotional, and insecure with what she said to Hughie. Problem is, that Hughie has also had an incredibly tough time recently, and the shape shifter was also manipulating and sexually assaulting him as well. Like its arguably to say that maybe he could have noticed his partners odd or unusual behaviour... I think a lot of us, would like to think if our partner or best friend was replaced, we know them well and intimately enough to catch on... In theory... However this shape shifter wasn't just pretending to be Annie, she had her memories as well, so could probably use those to be extra convincing. She after all used an actual real Annie memory and relationship to family, to propose and manipulate Hughie. If Hughie doesn't know the shape shifter can do that... Plus we sometimes act differently when we try to cheer up a loved one, and we also can act odd when we are nervous and thinking about proposing... Lots of ways how Hughie could have noticed Annie potentially acting a bit odd, but not in a negative way (both are clearly stressed, suffering from trauma of recent weeks, and really deserve a break). Like hypothetically if Hughie had been replaced, would Annie have figured it out right away, or take a few days? That being said, I think Annie also sort of realised that, and why that conflict resolved pretty fast, but it would have still been nice if someone had a heart to heart moment with both of them, about the trauma of the situation. Moments like the one we got between Frenchie and Kimiko. Annie and her powers, I think is semi related. Psychologically I think this season has been tough on her (and all our Boys). Probably getting to beat the ^%^% out of her literal "shadow self" in a doppleganger that tried to use psychological warfare on her, the same way that Firecracker has been all season, the shade her own mother threw at all, getting that release was probably quite therapeutic, and getting to get away with just Hughie and go on a road trip after all that probably worked wonders on resting and restoring her powers, and like a muscle, when you break it down, and then give it time to heal, it often comes back stronger, hence why her flying is so much better now. I wrote too much, but great reaction as always. My fav The Boys/Gen V reactor (not just for the edits, but observations as well!). Any interest in watching X-Men 97? Its animated but does actually cover a lot of the same themes and material as the Boys. Might be worth looking into (its technically a follow on, but you can start off with it too).

I don't think this will happen, but below is my wish list for the future! 1. Ryan, Cate and Sam (and Zoe) redemption arcs. We are getting the next Gen V season before the Boys final season. So I think one hurdle in trying to get Ryan on the side of angels, is that... Well he is really lacking in solid peer interaction. Kids has it rough since his mothers death, and since then he has been surrounded by his father, who well John is John, and sycophantic Vought yes men. He also did live with Grace for a while, and he has occasional positive interactions with Butcher here and there, but I can sympathise with why he might be a little lost and struggling. Not many can really understand his specific struggles either, and now he has killed another person he will probably feel incredibly guilty over. Alternatively, he seemed really happy with getting to hang with Zoe a little bit at the beginning of the season, and he is a bit older now, and closer to the Gen V characters in age... If Ryan got to hang out with Marie, Emma, Jordan, and Zoe and some other kids with powers? Also I just get sad seeing Cate and Sam and where they are now. I do think it makes sense character wise, but I still think there is potential for redemption. Maeve, A-Train, also flipped. Zoe also is around the same age, and would be poetic to see the character escape the cycle that Neuman was worried about, especially since she'd also already fall victim to that same cycle, at the end of this season and ending up in the place Neuman was trying so hard to keep her from. 2. Somewhat related to above, but Frenchie and Kimiko, and Hughie and Starlight. Some of my fav scenes from the Boys was Ryan interacting with Kimiko. She is older, but her and Starlight are good examples for the younger Supe teens, that coexistence is not only possible, but mutually beneficial. Its like any real life loose comparison. Being different, not only isn't a negative, but it can be a spark for compatibility. If you only see the worst from the "other side", makes sense why some of them, like Kate, Sam, etc would be jaded. So I think some of these interactions of characters getting to met and mix in the future of the show would actually be really really fun (Kimiko and Annie as mentors for some of them?).

12:30 he is still his dad. It's like it's still not very good. Ryan is also afraid of Homelander like everyone else. Ryan thinks Mallory deserves it. She wanted to lock him up like they did with Homelander. Ryan knows that Homelander is an asshole, but he understands why he became such an asshole. He wants to be a superhero and help people, but as usual, many children have their own absolutist and cruel ideas about justice. This was shown to us in the scene of beating Adam

People do not understand this. They think Ryan is in a context where he doesnt exist as an individual and only has to make two decisions: to be on Homelander side or on the other side. They can't see him as a kid that lived apart from society almost all of his life, and as a kid that just learned that his father raped his mother, and as a kid that is being threatened by someone that "loves" him.

One of the many things about this episode that absolutely fucking destroyed me is the look on Butcher's face after Ryan killed Grace. The absolute sorrow on his face. I was confused at first why the whole season danced around the idea of Butcher dying just for him to end up fine. Watching this episode again, I get it now. When Ryan ( the one person that made Butcher want to fight to right all his wrongs before he passed) killed Grace, the new leaf Butcher had been trying to turn over died with her. In a manner of speaking, Butcher DID die in this episode. Now it's just the cancer 💔

Annie had a spiderman moment, just like him the moment she was doubting herself to the point of her existence her powers started to fail. Firecracker destroyed her Ego and secrets, the Shifter destroyed her whole persona. the powers work as nerves, when doubt and depresssion hit that hard that you denies yourself is like accepting brain death, so the powers wich is embedded into your system act like your dying.

Annie's powers weren't working because she didn't know who she was, she didn't know whether she could be Annie after being Starlight for so long. She was depressed, angry, and uncertain about her path which are things that she couldn't be as Starlight. By the end of the season she's starting to integrate her identity as Starlight with who she sees herself as a person and so her powers start to work again, and then in the last scene she knows exactly what she has to do moving forward so her powers are full strength/even more powerful.

You have to remember that more than 80 million people were killed in the Second World War and there were serious concerns that millions would die in a theoretical invasion of Japan. Our generation cannot even contemplate what it was like living in the United States back then, wondering if a father or a husband serving overseas would be alive the next day. Almost 500,000 Americans died fighing in that war. The contemplation of the deaths of 30,000+ civilians in a single go was inconsequential by 1945 because the death and destruction wrought by World War II had made it so.

Everyone wants to be King, but Jace actually proves true kingship. Out of everyone, he has been the most successful at actually gaining alliances through diplomacy. He got the greybeards from Cregan Stark in the North, he got safety and support from Jeyne Arryn in the Vale, and now he's secured the crossing at the Twins from the Freys. He might be young and wants to fight, but he is also not so rash as to not understand the importance of diplomacy that even many adults do not seem to grasp. He would actually one day make a great king.
