The two prospects sound awesome. Love the breakdown. This season is going to be so much fun!
Let's hope Mark gets all the ones he wants.
Need him. Since somto left ..he mind me of him lol 😊 💪😺💙🤍🏀🔥. Come to us beast ..bbn
well we lost riley so might as well
Really? Your name is really Ee-yore the donkey? You're such an optimist. Let the coaching staff worry about the recruiting. Pope hired supposedly the best recruiter in the country. Kentucky has more NIL money than anyone in the country. You're really going to act like a younh kid, who shouldn't even be a freshman until 2025, and would be the 13th guy on a roster where there already aren't enough minutes to go around, has crashed your whole world? No one is a "must get." These coaches already have some kids that will be back. There will be portal transfers next year. (Maybe even Riley.) There will be room for maybe three freshmen, four max. The coaches have targeted maybe 20 kids. All of them are not coming to UK. Take a breath, perk up, and actually enjoy what's coming. It isn't your job to piss and moan that Pope doesn't sign the top 400 recruits.
It would GREAT to get a beast like him!
This dude is a beast, would be lucky to get him, he is a west coast guy so idk
I feel ya on him being a west coast guy but he said he loves Kentucky him and his family are genuine I’m not saying we’re the favorite but I definitely think there’s a chance especially if Pope can get him on campus for an official
West coast is iffy we have had guys but they don't stick around so he will be great pick up
IMO pre SEC conference schedule will be very difficult.. we could lose 5 before SEC and i think we are 11-7 SEC ...
What will be so different about this team is, we have gunners that will have the green light. Under Pope, this is something that UK fans haven’t seen in a long time. With Cal, it was a slow half court, church league type of team. Running will be this teams biggest key to wear out teams. Can’t wait.
Nah bro, when we had speed in the Cal Era we mf FLEW down that court in less than 3 seconds sometimes. Just depended on the athlete
Butler Brea Robinson Carr Williams don’t complicate anything
Yeah I think this is pretty easy most people have this starting lineup Kerr might Come im early some games if we struggle shooting or Otega might come in early if there’s trouble with a good SG or wing, I love how much you can do with this team and lineup I think the biggest problem will be finding out which lineups play best against certain teams I think Williams is clear cut starting Center I only want Garrison getting 12-16 minutes a game I prefer Carr at the 5 with Ansley Jaxson Brea and Kerr for a scoring lineup but against most SEC Teams it will be a traditional Center with Carr stretching out the defense but I don’t see Garrison starting at any time Williams is not only going to compete for SEC defensive player of the year he also drops dimes
Butler, Oweh, Robinson, Williams, and Garrison. Averaged 55 PPG last year and who will score on those 5?
Yeah that's not how that works. Kentucky had about 10 pts per game returning last season and then led the country in scoring.
I just cant wait till i see this team play 😊. Lets go cats 💪😺💙🤍🏀🔥..BBN. 😊 love uk 4ever 💙🤍💙🤍💙
Wasnt ky last team to go undefeated in reg season
Bottom line people are underestimating the cats ..they will be very very good
SEC Basketball will be tough this season….. I think without seeing them play they probably lose around 6 or 7 games before NCAA tournament , then possibly second weekend or sweet 16 .
I kinda think that Mark Pope could channel Sparky Anderson this year, i.e., be "Cap'n Hook." There are lots of interchangeable parts on this team. If a player is cold, or has a bad matchup, he has a couple options for every position. Personally, I think teams get beat (especially in tournaments) by sticking with "stars" who have terrible shooting nights. Going 5 for 17 is just a killer for a team. If a guy is that cold, he needs to go sit down a while and see if someone else is hot. Giving a guy an unlimited green light will shoot you right out of a game.
If Kentucky beats all of those teams and in that process doesn't get better and figure out how to win against a lower seed then they got extremely lucky or that coach on the low seed was really good at pivoting. Who ever projected that to happen should move to Arkansas today.
Kentucky will contend for both SEC Champs. Tourney and Conference. Then, they will make noise in the NCAA tournament. They will not accept anything less than a final four run.
11-7 SEC record would be a real accomplishment.
11-7 should be the absolute floor.
These so called Big Blue nationers are crap, all they want to see is championships. Never give anyone a chance to even play let alone threaten them. It's so pitiful
We need to give coach Pope a chance, they have NOT played a game yet and already throw him under the bus, it's a process, not every good coach ever starts real good right a way
DAMN you are boring!!! There were people before you that used to make it way more entertaining to watch and listen to, without falling asleep. I guess I'm just going to have to let this one go. Seriously man, put more into your show than boring stats. 🙄
Something is Very Wrong! We “stole” Coach Pope from BYU, but now BYU has become a Blue Blood with a top 5 recruiting class and we’re ranked number 40 in recruiting. What went Wrong???
BYU is not a blue blood. Wtf? Popes class is just fine. He will sign a top 4 or 5 class for next season. He basically had less than a month to hire a staff and get a whole new roster. BYU has a billionaire booster also and we have nothing close to that. Head to head UK would beat them by double digits.
@@904tc I just don’t see how we can compete with powerhouse universities like BYU moving into the future. It feels like our best days are now behind us.
@@theoptimist9605 i feel much better now than i did with Calipari.
Natty or failure! No excuses
I believe the wildcats end up shooting 45% from 3PT at the end of this season to last years I believe it was 41.2% from ESPNs Stats. I see them losing in the semi-finals as well as much as i hate to say it. I would be very pleased with that turnout however, compared to first round eliminations
Hot Take: Otega Oweh is our best player this season and one of the best in the SEC
"Elite" ?
I think he has several options on who starts and who plys what position. That was his goal all along and he succeeded. I'm really growing on this team and really realizing what a great move we made in hiring Pope.
SDSU played Butler mostly at the 2 because: A) he simply had to be a starter, B) they had another legit PG on the roster who was a very competent starter, and C) nobody else on the roster worthy of starting at the 2 ahead of him. But he is a natural PG and should be fine there. Teams play guys out of their natural position out of necessity all the time. As Lance has discussed concerning Ansley Almonor, FDU played him at Center despite the fact that he was only 6'7", even though he is a natural PF.
Bold prediction time Andrew Carr will be the leading scorer but only slightly and the rotation will be match up based. Personally I'd set up Butler at pg and Brea Robinson and Carr providing space on offense and Amari at 5 with my main bench guys being Double O, Kerr, and Garrison. The Freshmen and Almanor being change of pace pieces and foul trouble pieces. But ill reserve judgment on how Pope does it until around January when we get down to the nitty gritty portion of the season.
There's a huge difference between Bold and Stupid... THAT PREDICTION WAS STUPID!!! shoulda got a 1 outta 10
Assuming the team meshes, there should be as much or more offense as the 2023-24 teams for UK and BYU. Defense should be significantly better. Overall the athleticity of players should be better than BYU was, and probably on a par with what UK was. The latter is because of a bunch of physically mature fifth year players vs 19-20 year-olds. So, if they do mesh, and we get better game prep and in-game adjustments, plus an offense designed to be hard to defend... My guess is this team should be top 15 in Kenpom adjusted offense AND defense. That should equate to what, maybe 23-8 or so, and at least a 5-seed, maybe a 3-seed. My expectations are to not go out in March by being unprepared for a decidedly inferior team.
It’ll be tough to have a better offense than that BYU team. They had one of the most amazing offenses I’ve ever seen. They just had a bad first game in the tournament.
@@theoptimist9605 I don't remember who BYU lost to in the tournament, but I saw that team in their conference tournament. That team got red hot at the right time. It really wasn't surprising they beat BYU at that time, it was the pretty good team that suddenly got in a groove, and for two weeks could beat anybody.
@@keithgraham9547 Well said. I completely agree.
23 /8
I think the best offensive line up would be 1 Krissa, 2 Brea, 3 Jackson, 4 Almonor, 5 Carr
I love that line up for offense but I like that line up with butler at point to start
@@goldenroberts4624 I really like Butler too. I think he's gonna shock a lot of ppl on how good he really is. His first step is so fast. If you haven't seen it already...go watch his highlight tape on KZread. I can't remember the exact title of the video. But it's something like Kentucky Lamont Butler highlights
That's their best offensive lineup without a doubt....but (unfortunately) if that's the team on the floor, that means they're likely behind and playing catch-up.
No way Almonor starts
Williams starts at the 5 and Carr at the 4.
My starting 5 is Butler at Pg, Robinson at Sg, Brea at Sf, Carr at Pf, and Willaims at C
I think that would be the overall best starting lineup. We have a lot of tools so i think it will depends on the other team we are playing aswell, really looking forward to the Xs and Os
Garrison might start over williams, if he has a breakout season you have to remember hes young but with potential.
Lamont Butler is the player I thought from the start would be the starting Pg since we got him honestly, but yeah I'm definitely excited to see him run the point if so.
Love from Peru. Go Braves,Cats and Lance Dawe ESPN NETWORK 2027
Snag it with one hand and hit me at second Mint! Hooooooooo Hitmen!!!
@@rdsacra That UK baseball game reminded me of Deuce and mint up the middle. Best SS in softball 00 throws it to 13 for a double play. Black and Gold was our mode.If i pitched better we would have won state. I played my last game with you. I retired as you are my hero, and retired at 27 because of what we had and Will always have=memories legends.
Picture playing Arkansas with Butler guarding DJ Otega on Davis and Williams on Aido I think Carr and Adou is a bad defensive matchup for both teams but Jaxson would school Karter all game so would Koby Billy Richmond would be playing that game more because his defense well Billy could play more than Karter all year because his defense I love Boogie but Butler would hold him to 4 points 1 assists and 3 turnovers I’m not acting like we’re a top 10 team at this moment but I think we dominate Arkansas
Butler would destory DJ, DJ already has trouble getting to the rim, Calipari freshman are hyped up coming in but always fall short when they finally start playing, our veteran team will take them on easily. We have a coach that actually has a system in place rather than letting a bunch of 5 stars do whatever they want and looking lost while doing so. My opinion were at least a top 15 team.
Yeah that’s kind of my point, I do think DJ will Be better this year but Butler will not give him any space and really teams learned to just let him shoot he might hit a couple if he gets more consistent shooting he can be good Butler would shut him down he already locked up Davis, I’m not Saying Arkansas won’t have a decent season but we’re just a bad matchup for Arkansas they don’t have enough shooting most of his players won’t have a clear role Cal won’t be able to figure out a rotation I think he has 3 really good bigs but he won’t know how to play them Z is a bad matchup for Williams or Garrison but the team just doesn’t have enough and we will have an identity by the time SEC play starts with a clear rotation we have everything a top 10 team needs from defense to shooting experience physicality length basketball IQ I have us preseason top 15 really Alabama is the only team with a better roster on paper in the SEC to me Arkansas might have more talent but the way the team is formed just doesn’t make sense Florida Auburn Tennessee A&M all have less or same amount of talent as us they just have players returning I think we could finish anywhere from 1st to 5th in the SEC it’s just about chemistry
Whatever Pope thinks best. I’m just glad KY now has an actual X’s and O’s coach that’s creative. Should be a great season
I agree with you 💯 we're just not going to see some great offense 👍 other teams are gonna find out what 1996 defense was all about.
our offense last year was actually really good, i don't think that was calipari offense though, welsh (assistant) was running the offensive plays for us. Whoever was running our defense needed to be fired immediately though
SEC basketball season is gonna be tough …. There is several good teams this coming season
Alabama especially. its not like the old days anymore where Kentucky dominated the SEC, but it better prepares us for the tournament.
Lets go cats 😊 💪😺💙🤍🏀🔥🔥
I believe Popes system will make players shine…. Most players will get between 10 and 15 minutes a game … Pope likes to keep players fresh when he can and I believe he will have better conditioning similar to Patino 😉⛹️♂️🏀
I agree. Carr is more likely to play the 4. Williams starts and Garrison gets a hefty amount of minutes at the 5. I think even Williams realizes the amount of playing time a talent like Garrison Will inevitably get. That’s why he almost decommited shortly after Garrison committed.
Miss great opportunity it’s gonna be a great year love being the surprise team in SEC this year
Minutes the Elite clickbait in the title I think Butler starts the season at point. I'm not convinced he stays there but we will see.
Kansas
Im very interested in seeing what happens with the three freshaman we have this year. I think with this team as it is i think they will get opportunities to play.
I hear Alot 4stars
Bahwahaha haters 💙🏆
Hey, what are your thoughts on the possible visit from Olivier Rioux, the 7' 9" center from Canada? He obviously will be a post player, but he could definitely have the potential to outbound any opponent every game by standing with his hands up and passing back to an open man to shoot again. Edit: I just miss read the title of a KSR article. Olivier Rioux is a Florida commit who would be coming to Rupp for the only game we play against Florida this season. I believe this will be a problem for us when we play him since he can out-rebound all of out players.
Would be nice
He already committed to Florida
@bcovtheballa33 I thought I saw some article say that he was still willing to visit UK. I did see in wiki that he did commit to them, but I'll try and find that article
