We have a trail down to the creek.
Do you?! We have continued to make progress, it has been a lot of work. It’s full of big stumps and ruts now. And wet. Do you need 4WD to get down?
Do you wash the car when you get back home?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great question, sometimes we do!
@@Wild-and-Free-Interior-Alaska I think it looks cool the car when it gets all dirty. I don’t know why I just think it’s really cool.
It definitely looks like it’s seen some mud quite often!
What is the temperature cause you guys are all wearing hoodies and boots?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It was in the 50s I believe.
I hope you always make a lot of precious memories there with your beautiful family
@@Wild-and-Free-Interior-Alaska is not bad you can still wear shorts when it’s 50s I wear shorts and a hoodie. I love the cold.
It was very reasonable but quite a windy weekend!
It may help to make some bear mats when you are not at the cabin. Plywood fastened to the deck in front of the door and windows with a lot of long sharp nails facing up. Bears do not like to stand on these. lol.
We have one of those in front of the door! So far, it’s kept the cabin free of bears when we aren’t there.
Better off carrying (2) 2.5 gallon containers for balance and and back endurance
Having 2 in general to balance things out would be more helpful. Good idea
That sure looked like a beautiful hike but very windy 😊
Incredibly windy! Had to hold the little guy in lots of spots as he was struggling to stay upright in the wind. It was however beautiful!
Can you go camping there with the boys and just for precious memories?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I hope you made a lot of precious memories with those boys make it last long. Don’t let them grow up too fast.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We can go camping in the area but usually only go for a day trip hiking. We have camped around there previously.
Can you go camping there with the boys and just for precious memories?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Always making memories
You have to carry a gun with you when you go hiking do you see any bears any moose?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yup, specifically bears. You never know.
How did he come back?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He got off at a little sand area on the river bank and walked back through the woods. He got wet!
How did he come back?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Walking through the woods!
Let the dog go to with the boys just so he could have fun too❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He would have loved it, but likely would have gone on further to explore down shore 🤦🏻♀️
The campsites, like I hope the boys have a lot of fun and make precious memories with them. Enjoy it before they become teenagers.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ does grandma and grandpa come to❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sometimes we have the grandparents join. Now the grandparents have their own tv so we hope to fit in a camping trip together

Thanks, we always have a blast camping and exploring!
@@Wild-and-Free-Interior-Alaska a lot of picture of the boys so you could see how big they got in the future enjoy them. I hope grandma and grandpa is having fun too.
Of course
Do you have a place in the house where you measure them to see how much they grew for precious memories❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We do! We made them a board since we used to move frequently with the military.
from this video, the boys look like they grew a lot. How much taller did they get? Did you measure them? Did you have to buy new clothes? They look like they really grow❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They have definitely been growing, and needed bigger summer clothes.
Why do you have to build another bathroom in your camp?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is for my mom’s cabin. The one with hers was falling over and caving in.
I think it's good you highlighted such a scary situation. It's easy for some of us viewers to not realize how quickly things can go wrong. Glad everyone's safe.
Exactly. The weather can change rapidly and anything is possible even when you are familiar with the area, things can still happen quickly.
Glad your safe and well 😊
Thank you, we are glad it all worked out, but things can get bad pretty quickly.
So glad you made it safe 🤗.
Us too, it was one of the scariest moments yet. Do not wish to repeat!
When are you gonna make precious memories with your beautiful family I wanna see you making precious memories❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh we are always doing that. Currently traveling 5,000 miles with them across the Country.
I caught that! Its Eminem! P.S. You're saying Adirondack properly.
Haha, glad you caught it! 💕
Why don’t you put the chairs around the fire pit and then make chocolate s’mores with the kids it would be fun❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The fire pit was still buried but we have had several fires since then!
Sad for the couple who passed. It can be very dangerous if not prepared for the elements. Good video.
It is very sad, you never know what you may come up against out there and being prepared is essential. Thanks
I don't think you planned that out before you built that out house. LOL LOL LOL.
We planned the hatch and knew there would be snow, but we forgot about attaching the handle. Better late than never 😅
Which compost toilet did you buy?
Maybe eventually, but not yet!
Is that a compost toilet that you guys bought? They run pretty expensive.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No it’s just our outhouse 50 gallon drum cut down. No compost yet.
Toilettenhäuschen schon fertig Heizung auch drin
Toilet insulation just hangs out waiting for winter 😉
Missed the live. Watching the replay.
It was fairly last minute, spur of the moment!
@@Wild-and-Free-Interior-Alaska we`re cool
Hope you had a chance to catch it after the fact
Your hubby is soon going to need an operation, to have his hands removed from his pockets. 🤣🤣🤣.
Kids do not get a summer reading list anymore❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They get a recommended work packet and reading list. Our kids have that plus workbooks we purchase to keep them ready for the next school year.
Dad on the summer reading this for school kids don’t get a summer reading this for school anymore❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Probably not all schools do anymore
No reading for the summer❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Always reading!
Your children gonna spend summer vacation at the cabin are they going to be any good summer reading books? Any suggestions anything good to read?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They are currently spending time at this cabin with their Nana for 3 weeks! They are reading, playing games and only have PBS Kids on their TV 😉
No summer reading anything for summer dead to reading
They read every evening, they have hundreds of books but lately a lot of Diary of a Whimpy Kid.
You had to build abother one....thats just $h*tty
😂 I agree! It was a rough start but a start nonetheless and as we share more, it luckily came together pretty smoothly.
He's pretty lazy
The child or the dog? Neither seemed interested in helping. I can’t blame them!
I haven’t watched all your videos yet. Will this be your permanent home?
Our plan is to potentially retire here either half the year or full time once our kids are grown.
Awesome!
Thanks, we hope it all works out!
I really like your videos❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Do not use the Lord's name in vain ever!!!!
🙊
Really!! You Two are Way Over Thinking These Window Covers. They Look Fine and Sturdy. What More Do You Want?? Put the Damn Things Up and Move On To Another Project!! No Wonder People Have Stroks at an Early Age!!
Ha, I don’t think we are over thinking it. Over thinking would be if we had some other folks helping us since we didn’t measure by any means and slapped them up. After the first each went up in 15 minutes or less with the uneven walls from the logs. That’s the biggest challenge. Have you ever tried to install something that needs to latch on uneven surfaces? Where every log is different from the next? That was the time consuming part. If you check out some other videos you will see we are the “do it” kind of people inspiring others not to over think it lol. We just toss things up 😉
Could always put one screw on either side of the door in that piece. Would help ensure they don’t get in.
That is a great idea as well. We typically keep all of our tools in the cabin though and travel with minimal tools, but do have a screw driver to use by hand in most cases. So far, so good as they start to wake up and the prints are on the trails 😬
Hope you have heavy hinges.😅
Yes actually, definitely made sure of that. Rated for more than they weigh and we weighed the covers just to be sure 😅 they are not light by any means.
Holy shit. Really technical .😢
Which part? As you can see, we kind of plug and play with the uneven walls from the logs to make it work.
I find that using a miter saw isnt really needed for about 80% of the build process. There great for fine wood work like trim but suck with framing. You need to move ever piece of lumber 1x more and hold it properly. Where as a skill saw you move to the lumber and can easily adjust angles as needed.
It worked out in the end, while they aren’t perfect or identical, it kept the process moving along and still holds up well and doesn’t look that terrible. It wasn’t the initial plan, but it worked! Definitely quicker.
Good job working with uneven log materials. I have done this in the past and can appreciate your effort.
Thank you, it definitely takes a bit of figuring out to make it all work as no log is similar, but we made it work and it’s holding up great!
Might wasn’t to put plywood down with screws pointing up to stop them also
We have plywood with nails down in front of the door!
You should have had the front door open outward so the bears can’t push the door in. I guess someone can keep you inside your cabin by putting the barricade brace from the outside. Just get a security gate that opens outward.
The way our snow can blow it’s easier to have it open in, but with the concern for bears that is why we put the brace on. We don’t use it when we are there. We are also so far from other humanity no one is sneaking up on us and locking us in! It has held up wonderfully so far and no bears have been inside as the snow melted.
Nice red car
Poster?! RX-7!
