I've got so many outside chickens... But found Stella without a mom at a day old... She's 6 weeks now... I put her under a broody hen at from 7 pm till 5:30 am... Stella lives with 4 indoor Pitbulls that she bosses around... Lol... She thinks she's a dog... She goes everywhere with me, including shopping... She rides in the car in my lap or just in the back seat and goes into her dog carrier for going into stores... I live completely off grid on Maui where chickens are everywhere you go... When I need a 🐥 break... She's contained in my green house to run around and be a chicken... I love all my birds... And I love that there are people out there who have pet chickens! You're awesome!

𝔻𝕆 - ℕ𝕆𝕋 keep chickens indoors, they need the outside. The only acceptable thing is if they are only inside to sleep and are let out in the morning. If your worried about predators getting them, just make sure its safe. And if you cant get a safe space for them outside... Dont get them. Its unfortunate that people actually keep them indoors.

The food is simple throw it outside out outside of the door in the yard or in the front yard and then when you go out with your chicken let your chicken just do the dirt outside and eat the food that you threw out and then come back together inside your chicken should be going outside every single day with you like you take a dog out you take a chicken out because they need time outside

Ooh! Why don’t you make them a perch? Making them an actual outdoor like environment will give them some security and security will create more confidence. Bond sleeping together for sure but give them a perch and live plants and a try full of dirt. I bought some of those turf squares that wash out easily pots of edible plants, dirt bath and a tree branch perch that I converted from a window cat perch right near my couch so she can sit near the window. She was very happy before she passed.

When you keep them outside at times how do you get them to lay a decent amount of eggs? I have a friend with 10 chickens but only 3 or 4 eggs a day. We give them spinach corn seeds galore.

Eggshell; get some water warm in a pot, when it starts to get warm you can start to rub the mucus part out, place the shell pieces on paper towels to dry out, turn the shells so they can dry through and through, place in pestle and mortar or a mason jar and the bottom of an ice cream scooper, crush up finely mix in with their food/slaw. By the way, beautiful girlie!!! 🥹 do you use a harness to walk her? I just got one for my girl, haven’t tried it yet, not nice enough yet.

Literally why are you the only one doing these kinds of videos. I have a special needs hen who needs to brought inside daily because she cannot eat and drink on her own due to somehow breaking her bottom beak during hatch or shortly after before the beak had hardened, causing the lower mandible to grow crooked (this is the vet’s theory of what happened. He was confident that it was not a genetic cross-beak due to the appearance and progression). As a chick she could eat and drink on her own but today her beak is at a 90 degree angle so she needs help to groom, eat and drink. It’s extremely helpful for those of us that take care of birds like her to have resources like your videos to guide us in the direction of good products. I don’t have a ton of money and wouldn’t be able to care for her if I had to spend hundreds on diapers that did not end up fitting, so thank you for donating your time and money and also for posting it online for others to see!

Thank you for posting this! I also have a bantam house hen. Layla's beak is starting to hook significantly. All the videos show full size chickens, not little bantams. Layla is an Old English Game bantam, so she is tiny, like your Ren. It just makes me feel better watching someone clip another tiny birds beak. I like that you use the human clipers to shape her beak. My Layla is super calm like your Ren. ❤

We rescued a flock of mostly bantams, got 2 big girls some how, one of the girls is pretty anti social so I am considering brining her in as a pet. Learning what that entails at the moment, will have to cage at night when the cats are in, looking to find out how much loose time she will need to stay healthy, already had a close call with another hen we brought in in an emergency, she was getting abused by her cage mates and needed nursing for a couple days but developed digestive distressed from lack of activity in a relatively short period of time. The flock will be moving to a bigger property soon where they will be free ranged during the day and I have to decide if we are keeping her soon, I'm afraid with her tendency to wander off alone she will be more susceptible to predation....

I saw the diapers that no one can get in your video about them. I took some screenshots of this and have re-sewn and modified them several times. You don't even need a sewing machine for this, but if you can use it, you can definitely make such pieces yourself. I have seven Serama chickens and therefore need more diapers. Buying is not an option for me because I always want to do everything myself. 🙂
