Counterpoint: it's not conducive to a good productive morning to be jolted from a sound sleep by a loud, jarring noise you have to hunt down and kill. Adrenaline is not the wake-up chemical; cortisol is. Waking up into a supposed state of emergency creates stress. The best way to wake up is naturally, if possible. Otherwise, some sort of alarm that connects with a biohacking device that tracks your sleep cycles so that it wakes you up when you're in a very shallow sleep is best. I agree no snooze, but I also see a lot of value to a languid morning stretch and a little time relaxing outdoors with a book instead of just pounding out pushups. The same thing isn't going to work best for everyone. And that cold shower? Those can be nice indeed, but if the only point is to activate your sensory receptors and flood the brain with sensation, why not a hot shower or just a few pokes with a cattle prod? I think science has more to say about the effects of cold, specifically.

Love the video. It's great and it works well for people in developed countries and all but unfortunately, I'm in Nigeria and honestly, the competition is just crazy. Almost everyone has realized that if you want to stand a chance you just have to do better than anyone else and they are just going straight at it. To make it to that 99% you're talking about, I need to work over 70 times as hard. Thanks for the help anyway.😮‍💨😮‍💨

If lots of people are "getting ahead" of 99% of people then 99% of people cannot be behind. Although, if death counts as "getting ahead", then 92-93% of people are already ahead of us all.

Finger tracking is not bullshit, it actually helps to stay in line. Otherwise you always have to watch out to not lose the line, which distracts from the text. It's not meant for speed, but for comfort.

The clickbait at the beginning gave me a chuckle. If you just skim through a book, you didn't really read it. You are just reading parts of it.

Now think about all that from back at the industrial age perspective, when average workers had 16hour working days. Absolute nothing left for personal freedom/experience, but a constant cycle of work, sleep, repeat.

About the Sacred Space: is there a way to achieve this when you have a PC and have to use it for both work and play? Is it possible to trick my brain to register a separation somehow, for example by using 2 different lighting settings or something like that, despite it being essentially the same space? I would test this anyway since I don't know any better way for my current situation, but am curious to hear your opinion on it.

    1. Not all words are equally important - you don't need to read every single word. Focus on the core ideas and skip over fluff/filler. 2. Get a "map" of the book first by reading a summary or overview. This gives you the big picture context before diving in. 3. Read with purpose - identify what problem you're trying to solve or what you want to learn. Don't just read cover-to-cover. 4. Engage in active reading, not just passive reading. Go through three steps: a) Prep - Understand your purpose and what to expect b) Read - Selectively focus on the core ideas c) Apply - Synthesize what you learned, debate it, explain it to others The key is to actively process and connect the information, not just passively absorb it. This builds lasting understanding and brain connections, rather than just short-term comprehension.

This conceptual framework is the opposite of helpful. 1. There IS continuity of consciousness, if there wasn’t that would be a great reason TO procrastinate, because if you really died tonight then why care what happens tomorrow? 2. Because there IS continuity of consciousness my decisions to procrastinate are screening myself in the future!

There are people who managed or manages to make their 8 hours of work be the meaningful hours in their daily lives.. so, for such people, it would be 12 hours instead of 4... This is why theres a search for passion , or even sth that would make the meaning happen within the 8 hours of work. Get the 8 hours back first. Then there'll be more time to work on things and make stuff happen. Works that help build solid foundations for other endeavours in life. Work that connects to alot of people with deep pockets and insights. Work that helps us learn stuff. And evenfually, work that takes us to a different way of life.

This is what I'm trying to find. Some work, by virtue, helps us settle well later on, builds us. Stuff like medicine, military, etc. the work becomes the investment.

The thing here tho is that the current geopolitical/economic systems that are enstated in all of the "free" countries have a system in which those who have more are rewarded more. So even if everyone does all it takes to improve themselves/get better, they will still be slaves to the economic and political systems which have caused their issues to begin with. Only global revolution of economic and political policy can truly change the class disparities.
