Tekken 2 was the first game I ever bought with my allowance and I never regretted it. So many memories, and then it got too scratched, but later I got Tekken 5 and it had Tekken 2 and it was a perfect cycle.😊

6:33 i have thought about that before how a majority of people in the world of earthbound dont seem to notice that these things are happening around them whether they care at all or take ness seriously, and the idea of what's rushing through ness mind when he's given this big task to travel the world and take on many challenges to defeating this being of mass destruction is sorta overwhelming. I think someone mentioned before that this game is built around the qualities of overcoming these challenges as we get older and its a metaphysical representation of the journey the player has to overcome to see the Edit: I was going somewhere with this and was hoping to finish it later when the words would show up but my mind just went off the grid towards the end. It's an amazing game no matter the flaws and I was gonna mention a quote that shigesato itoi said about friends of how they make up something in our lives... I think I might have gotten that wrong monkey ness mentioned before I just can't remember when

I’m so glad younger people are experiencing this classic game. I was ten years old when I rented this game from Blockbuster. I literally rented it two more times and then my mom bought me it a few days after I returned it to Blockbuster. I beat this game like ten times back to back. I love the atmosphere and the good feeling the game gave me. No other game has given me that warm cozy feeling.

I like your videos, mostly 'cause you play those games and consoles, not just collect them (like so many others that only focus on collecting and say nothing 'bout games or their experience with them). You remind me of Classic Game Room and Happy Console Gamer. On a side note though, the Fairchild Channel F was actually the first console with interchangeable cartridges.

MOTHER 2 is one of those games that you can endlessly ramble about because there's so much about it that you enjoy. I want to talk about some of the influences that Itoi pulls from that plays into the game as it's a fascinating smorgasbord of influences. It's also one of my favorite video games of all time, and I hope that you find this knowledge interesting! Itoi takes huge influences from western culture. He takes a lot of influence from Peanuts cartoons, The Beatles, Dragon Quest, John Lennon, Monty Python, Americana, and lots of aspect of US culture. You can actually hear a snippet of the beginning of "All You Need Is Love" by The Beatles in "The Cliff That Time Forgot", and you ride a Yellow Submarine to progress as a reference to a Beatles track of the same name. In the Japanese release, alternative names for Ness, Paula, Jeff, Poo, and King could be John, Yoko, Paul, George, and Ringo. Ness' favorite food could also be Honey Pie in reference to the same song off the white album. The alternative names are kinda fascinating because it could also be references to the Mario games with Mario, Peach, Luigi, Toad, and Yoshi; there's also a set of names for members of Japanese boyband SMAP, which is one of the biggest bands in Japan. Ness fighting Giygas is also a fascinating topic because there's so much fan theories about it. It's based off a young Itoi's misinterpretation of Japanese adult film "The Military Policeman and The Dismembered Beauty" which he interpreted a sex scene as an SA scene. He has said that Giygas is something that cannot be made sense of, but is in a sense "...like a living being that deserves love." There's a really famous disproved theory about Giygas being an allegory for an aborted fetus and the cave the finale takes place in is in the shape of a uterus. The theory is further supported by his background sprite taking the shape of a baby. The theory has been unproven by Itoi saying Giygas wasn't meant to be that allegory and the background was just was coincidence due to how the sprites were created on the Super Famicom. Fantastic video regardless. I want to see your review of MOTHER 3 as that's my favorite game ever made and there's so much you could talk about it. In my opinion, MOTHER 3 is the best game out of the trilogy. Unfortunately there's no official US release so you'll have to resort to emulation, creating a flash cart using an English patched ROM, injecting it into Wii U Virtual Console, or playing it on a 3DS or DS. The combat system is rhythm-based, so playing on original hardware is definitely worth it for that, but it isn't required to beat the game. I was able to beat it through emulation just fine! Have fun! I'm a new subscriber looking forward to your future videos and can't wait to hear more of what you play! :D

It's not a good game, is like saying King's Field is a good game, or Alone in the dark 3, or what have you. Games riddled with clunky controls, horrible puzzles, non-sense everywhere you look. Those games generally do one or two things beautifully, like music. So people who have never even played them, or didn't play them back in the day, already dare to say "amazing game!" They are not, nobody in the gaming industry thought they were good, not even the devs. Most of them voiced their thoughts on the failure those games were. Gamers are just easily moved and drawn to hype trains of nostalgia. Earthbound is a terrible game, most of the time is not fun, and games are meant to be fun. There are some good things to it, but it isn't enough to say is a good game, let alone an amazing game. That's just bs.

I played earthbound a few years ago when it came to the virtual boy for the Wii u, was not expectng much, but oh boy, what a great journey, you're right about its atmosphere, about the insights of life that the game has, and how we think about ourselves after the game. Such complexity in such a somewhat simple game in its shell. Maybe its not my favourite game of all time, due my lack of nostalgia for it, but after I finished it, I thought how this game could have been a blast to my child brain if I played it in the 90's. Great video.

I love ya vids big man, Earthbound is a hell of a game! Sometimes the best games have the most simple message! Also you ever play No More Heroes? Or Killer7? They may not be fully up your alley but they got swagger, and bite. (Try to play the Wii version of No More Heroes if possible, it has a bunch of tracks that aren't available in ports due to copyright). Killer7 on Gamecube is genuinely my favorite game of all time. That game means to me what Mother 2/Earthbound means to you!
