No other Mario sports games held a candle to MGTT! Literally the only time in the series you get to play as shadow Mario, top and back spins on the ball , unlock cool characters and star characters that make it possible to get hole in one on some course u never thought possible, phenomenal course design, great game all around. I remember splaying the switch Mario golf a few years ago maybe and was like it's amazing how a game 20 older had so much more content without any updates, GameCube area Nintendo was elite bro, keep up the good work u seem like a chill dude

My man pro tip- if there is a decent downhill drop to the pin, for example 10 yards down, you want to subtract the total yardage from “yards below” and put that much power into it. Cause if you just aim based on total yards you’ll overshoot it most times not taking into account the drop. So if it’s 166y to pin and 16y down you wanna aim for roughly 150 on the meter

I have a regretful story involving this game. When I was 8 back in 2010, GameStop was selling Gamecube games for very cheap and I would often try to pick up some of their games. I had just got $10 and since I was kid, that $10 was really burning in my pocket. I saw Toadstool Tour there for $10 and picked it up. I wasn’t the biggest fan of golf at the time and as such, I couldn’t get into it nor get the hang of it. Kept getting bogeys. I felt upset at my purchase since I guess it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be, and I intentionally scratched the disc (cause that’s the rational thing to do). I never ever did shit like this so it kind of baffles me now. Looking back, it looks like a fun Mario Golf game. If I had a Time Machine I would slap my past self.

Don’t worry we all make mistakes, now you know and that’s the important part. I mentioned this in a past video I think, but if it makes you feel better i’m responsible for breaking TWO sega game gears, one of them being a rare variant.

The people behind the Mario Golf series, Camelot, made the first Hot Shots Golf (a Sony Exclusive) game for the PlayStation in 1997.

Mario Golf for the N64 is really great as well. I actually prefer it over Toadstool Tour.

I love golf. Am I good? Hell no. You're right, this game fucks. I also really enjoyed Mario Tennis on the GBA and my dad and I loved Hot Shots Golf (specifically 4 and World Invitational). Check those out if you haven't.
