When I was younger (in my 20s) I needed to be out with friends. The thought of going out walking was so boring to me! However, as I've gotten older, I much prefer "boring"! I enjoy doing simple things like going walking in nature or being by the sea. These things fulfill me much more. Thanks for sharing your perspectives 😊
As a mom to 6, The older I get, the more I long for ordinary days...😊
Why do YTers sit on the floor at the end of their beds? Weird.
haha I find it to be a cozy spot :) No idea why! lol
I would be lost without my planner! My schedule is crazy busy. I keep myself on track with my planner 😊
I'm jealous that it works so well for you lol I have NEVER had success with one
I like my cute workout clothing, but I buy it second hand or discounted. But I also exercise almost 7 days a week so I get a huge amount of wear out of them so it's worth it :)
It sounds like you already have the commitment to exercise part down! lol
my average usage is 8 hours.
Is that mostly social media or other types of apps?
Say nah
My fantasy self is perfectly made up and dressed, super productive, and always on the go. My real self is a feral 3 year old with lazy tendencies. 😂 Great video. Very helpful. ❤
hahaha I feel ya on that!
Ok, but I need my books. Need's maybe a strong term, but it brings me an overwhelming amount of joy to walk into a room and be greeted by a collection of my favorite books and unread ones I'm excited to read. I'm often reading about 15 books at the same time and finish about 1 a week.
If it brings you joy then there is nothing wrong with that! To each their own :) That's amazing that you read that much at once! I'm impressed lol
OMG, you just described me. Those are the things I let go of last year. 🙂
Ohemgee! I just found ur channel. Why does it feel like u are talking to me? Like every single thing. 😂
Hello! I just found your channel 2 days ago and cannot stop watching. This channel is soo cozy and professional i can’t believe you don’t have more followers😮. Loveeee the videos❤
Oh my goodness thank you so much! That made my day :)
me and my Japanese husband have separate bedrooms for our health sake, I can’t sleep with him because he snores so much and he watches tv😂 I don’t like watching tv’s and my room is so simple yet very clean 😊I don’t have a dresser because I don’t need it😊 I also have few clothes because I hate clutter. I just buy things that add value to me😊
To be fair when it comes to sport equipment - for some people it keeps them motivated, adds to the fun and keeps them going
oh for sure! If you are actually using it then that's beneficial :)
great ideas! 🤩
thank you! :)
Thank you for good tips. One thing I am guilty of spending unnecessary money on is seasoning for recipies (sorry about the spelling) when I want to cook something. Often I only use them for that specific dish and never again.
Oh my goodness I have been guilty of the exact same thing! I try to remind myself that it's okay to pass it along or declutter it if I know I'm never going to use it again or simply didn't like it.
Where do I get a bullet journal? Or make one of my own.
I linked the one I have in the description! But you can get them most places that sell journals (book store, craft store maybe..) Amazon has a ton :)
I'm living for the simplicity.. Thank you so much for this video 💜
thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
This is a great list. I would add different hair gadgets. Like multiple hair straighteners, hair curlers, electric brushes etc. I fell into that trap a few times out of pure boredom and emptiness I felt inside. I spent so much money on them that I’m never gonna get back. I still keep the gadgets and use them from time to time but I know now that 1-2 gadgets like that are more than enough for hair styling. Lesson learned. And for that emptiness inside I actually needed therapy and NOT more stuff 😅. I’m so glad I’m doing that now. Therapy is one thing that‘s helping me immensely on my minimalism journey because I am slowly learning to be content with the things I already have and to also find better and healthier ways to deal with my emotions. So I’m hopeful that my „need“ for overbuying and overspending is going to lessen over time.
Your music is awesome 😊
Do a coconut usage please. Oil pulling?❤
We dont throw away food❤.
I agree with everything. Guess Im part Mininalist.
This is so perfect! I just subscribed to you the other day and i’ve been researching bullet journal stuff the past couple weeks just to see what I can do with it and how to do it minimally!
What kinds of things do you put in your weekly spread. That’s where I’m not sure what to do. I don’t do much during the week and my kids aren’t old enough for school yet so I’m so lost
Thanks for being here! :) I'm glad you found this helpful! For me the weekly spread is mostly any weekly obligations (kids things, appointments, events..) Sometimes I include things like to do's as well (editing a KZread video, deep cleaning the fridge) things like that. If a task doesn't get done on a certain day I migrate it to the next day. Any tasks or things that I wrote down on the previous weeks brain dump I try to schedule into the following weekly spread :) I hope that helps a bit!
Great list! My mistake was exercise weights that I got.
Your mistake may have been, not to have made use of those weights. 😊
Yes!! I completely agree with you on all of these. Although I have a hard time letting go of my stationary since I already have it. My husband always wanted to try using a metal detector so he got one from his birthday and christmas money. Then after 2 uses he realized he doesn't like going to the beach which is where he would use it. Now he wants to sell it and buy a kayak since.... I can't seem to convince how wasteful that will be since he doesn't like going to the beach in the first place.
Brilliant thank you
New subscriber. I’ve watched many declutter videos and your list resonates with me the most. 😅 These are all the things I have worked on or am still working on. Your video makes me feel less alone. Thanks!
I'm so glad it resonated with you! :)
for exercise i just walk for 10K everyday and i lose weight after 2 months from 48 kilos i went down to 43kilos😊
That's amazing! :)
My phone, a Motorola, has mostly the same functions as an iPhone but cheaper and has the ability to 'hide' apps on the screen that still exist within the phone. I deleted so much to the point where the only 18 visible apps I have: 1 for utilises, 3 for banking, 1 main food shop app, 1 bus pass, 4 texting/calls, personal gmail account, 1 for photos, camera, editing app for KZread, settings and google/chrome. I reinstall or download apps when I need them.
I keep my Christmas decor to a minimum - just in the living room and outside on the banister and around our front door. This way is doesn't disturb my house everywhere and I don't have to store the rest of my decor and dig it out after the holiday. I do not buy or put out other decor for the other holidays or seasons, except table centerpieces and napkin holders for Thanksgiving and Easter. It just makes life easier for me. We borrow puzzles at our library and stream audio books from the library too. No more storing or buying puzzles and books. I use the questions - do I NEED this or just WANT it? Is this USEFUL or just a dust collector/space invader? Thanks for your advice. Keep at it.
Thank you for sharing this! I love the borrowing <3 I feel like we need more people to bring back the art of borrowing! :)
I love this video, you are so spot on! I have tried several times to make my phone into a dumb phone, but cave and install a lot of rubbish again that just proves to be a time suck that influences my mood in a bad way. After watching your video I did it again, but this time I disabled Safari. I had never thought of doing that, but wow, what a game changer! Like you I would uninstall my social media apps, shopping apps etc, but sneakily access it all via the browser. It's early days yet, but this feels absolutely wonderful and so freeing. I have subbed and look forward to more of your content! xx
Great food for thought. I have done some things differently in my minimalist journey. It’s taking me some time to decide on all the “things” I’ve brought into our home. Creating a minimal life has had far more ups than downs and I have added a few things along the way that I never put attention on. I am minimizing the way we grocery shop. I have taken out expired items less consistently and now recognize so many things about what I actually need & use in our small kitchen & fridge. Pizza cutter guilty 🥴🍕 LOL. I am approaching my mini pantry like I did household and personal cleaning supplies…”use them up”. So say I have some random quinoa, I then look up a quinoa recipe and use it before it goes bad. I am also not going to add but two higher quality sweaters this winter. I went from using an expensive planner for work to a very affordable amazon find. I even work very minimally. I am a manicurist and have honed in on specific brands of products and keep a very thought out selection of polish/gels. Even my storage space reflects how minimal my business runs. I have found very positive ways to minimize paper printing by using a digital service menu I can email or text to a client. Minimizing these things helps a small business stay open. I also have less to dust and clean as I can work very efficiently and make a simple and comfortable space for clients ❤
I’ve collected so many supplies for different crafts/hobbies/planners/etc that my fantasy self wanted to do. My real self just isn’t good at them or didn’t love the hobby or didn’t use the supplies. I’ve gotten rid of all but my current hobby and I know at some point I’ll move on from that one too
No bedside tables I love it!
🥰
Many categories on your list resonated with me! Thank you, Amanda.
I'm glad it was helpful! :)
To support minimalism, linking budget with bigger life and being smart about money is one of the most important building blocks. All the money I do not spend for occasional stuff, brings me bigger, long term wins. Thats, why I still buy planners. And books which I know, no-one else around me is likely not interested in. They make me happier in the long run and help to strive towards life, where my decisions are not about and "stuff" only. Some of the planners do eventually not work for me, so it is ok to leave them unfinished. Better than hoarding apps (calendars, time management apps, process management apps) :)
Hi Amanda, I don't refer to something as "failure" I always say, you gave it a go and it didn't work out at this time! I just found your channel tonight and have watched about three tonight and find them very much how I think. Best wishes for your growth as a youtuber. Jo from Australia xxx
That's a great perspective! Thank you for sharing that :) And thank you for being here! It's always so nice to connect with like-minded people, even across the world! 🥰
Thank you for saying that you don't need special clothing to exercise in. I have friends who insist they must wear hiking gear for hiking, cycling gear for riding a bike, yoga wear for doing yoga.....NOPE, I can do all of those things wearing regular clothing. As long as I'm comfortable, why should I be buying ( and storing) clothes that only have one purpose/place to wear them? The only One-Purpose-Only-Clothing-Item I've purchased was my wedding dress.
Specific fabrics are better for exercising and working out
Looooooove planners but I never use them either lol
I love how realistic you are about the fact that none of those “tried and true” tips (that everyone touts) worked for you for staying off your phone. I literally have the same story. Tried all those things. The only thing that actually worked for me was deleting SM itself. However I still browse Safari so I like your tip about deleting that. 😊
Good video new subscriber ❤❤
Thank you so much! 🥰
I pay for kindle unlimited and have all my books on my tablet. I am legally blind and cant read printed books. This is a good investment for me since i read about two books a week.
Good video! So true about planners!
thank you! Planners for me have always been such a pain point! They can be so beautiful and tempting to want to purchase, but more often than not they never fulfil the purpose I think they will!
I loved the suggestion for books I recently decluttered my books and found so many that were o honestly no longer things I would read, yet I'd never cracked the first page. Thank you so much for sharing this list.
you're welcome! Books can be such a tough one for so many people. And if you truly do read all of your books over again then there is no harm in keeping them. BUT, I think for most of us that just isn't the case at all lol Not for me anyway! :)
Such a calming feed
We dont need exercise equipment. We need to exercise in the first place 🥇
Exercise equipment does help me.
Yep😂 I just walk outside everyday❤For over 10 yrs🎉
@@kimwieczorek1879…. same😂 I was 48 kilos when I started this walking exercise and now I’m 43 kilos😊
All we need is body weight, calisthenics!
New subscribers
New subscriber here. Greetings from Indonesia. I'm a hoarder of books, journals, planners, bible studies, and also back then yoga or workout paid subscriptions .... I need to declutter.... 😢
Thanks for being here! 🥰 I didn't add subscriptions to the list, but that is definitely and area that so many of us can evaluate! It can easily get out of control.
I buy the essentials & the store can keep the rest of it
yes! let the store be the storage! :)
