Approximately 36 items, there are a handful of soft-decluttered items. I think the 36 will grow into the 40s in the future but not more than that because the me of right is wondering why my kit would get bigger than that? but I'm open because i had a very small collection before and i was satisfied until it wasn't serving me. I now have every category of makeup, 1-2 products for each. I counted my 3 reusable lashes 😅, but i counted my 2 custom eyeshadow palettes instead of the single eyeshadows in them. I use everything, or at least i find the amount per category sensible and want to keep it the same but change to better matches, colours and formulas as things expire.

I used to collect makeup but ever since becoming a mom of 2, I felt like I really needed to simplify my makeup overall. One thing that has helped as I find my staples is adopting the idea that once I find a product that‘s “good enough,” I will stop looking for the “best” product for me.

Love this perspective!

I've been in the process of downsizing my makeup. This video is an inspiration to keep me going. Owning less is actually freeing up time (less decisions to make when putting on make up), space and clutter and of course friendly on the wallet. BTW your son is adorable and possibly the star of the video!

Loved this! I used to be a lot into makeup and still have a channel focused mainly around makeup. But I feel so weird about makeup nowdays, I feel I wear too much makeup and have too much. I do want to downsize to a minimal makeup collection and find a natural but classic signature look. So this was really inspiring, thank you!

I think the makeup routine we are all taught when we are first learning is designed to sell products. Primer, foundation, color corrector, concealer, bronzer, blush, highlighter, and layering up three lip products. We all need to find what we really like and feel good in and leave the rest. I struggled for years to find a foundation that didn't emphasize my fine lines and pores and now I skip it all and my skin never looked better.

I really want to simplify my makeup stash. It’s not practical to own as much as I do. Great video!

Love this! I also have 11 pieces of make-up, plus a couple of tools. One of mine is an eyeshadow palette, though, so it's a big one to count as just one, but I think it will go this year as I just never use it. I love the Glossier cloud paint liquid blushes - I use them as blush and lip colour both and they're so flattering and easy to use. I swapped those for my old lipsticks because they're much lower maintenence. I'm like you and can't be bothered with a full on lipstick!

I also had a large eyeshadow palette that I was never using! But yes, the full lipstick is just not for me I found lol

I'm 56 and for as long as I've worn makeup I've always kept it minimal. 1 of each item I use. Don't buy multiple kinds of each item or any backups. I kept my makeup in a small makeup bag for years. I don't understand these people with huge makeup collections. Keeping items for years. No way to use it all. Makeup does have a shelf life. I basically wear concealer, powder, blush, lip liner and a colored lip balm. I do have 1 eyeliner and 1 small eyeshadow palette. Just in case I go somewhere I'm dressing up a little more. Like a wedding or a party ect. That's the only time I wear eye makeup. Haven't worn mascara in probably 25 years.

This is basically how my mom approached makeup when I was growing up. So that’s probably why I keep things so minimal as well! :)
