I am very ruthless about decluttering. I have been decluttering since my first was born 22 years ago, I have 8 kiddos the youngest is 7 and it has been so necessary for me to constantly declutter with a large family. One harsh reality I personally had to face was that I had a shopping, thrifting, and impulse buying problem that had to be dealt with, yes decluttering is a part of life as long as we are alive because as humans we are consumers but, there really is an over abundance and being Indulgent in our society that each of us has to personally address. Thank you for your vlogs they are encouraging. ❤

That is so so true ♥️ I think so many of us can relate to that. We get a hang of the Decluttering part of the process, but neglect the purchasing part of the problem!

I'm all for the 'ruthless' declutter. I did this when we decluttered stuff we'd accumulated over a 10-year period. It was tough in parts but also very satisfying and there's nothing I regret decluttering.

Thats amazing 😊 it’s so true how little, if anything, we actually regret Decluttering!

I have come out the other end of decluttering and feels great and it is hard, but I think it makes what you keep more thoughtful. I discovered it best with certain people (parents) to not let them in on what I am doing.

That’s good advice. Especially in the early stages. Not everyone is receptive to the idea lol

Me, my mom, and my 2 sisters had multiple bags of clothes sitting in our garage for years. One day our local high school was hosting a clothing donation. I took all those bags and donated them. Didn’t look through every piece. We haven’t even thought about them and we feel less stressed seeing them every spring. It really is the best approach!

Wow. Such a great example of being ruthless! It’s so true. Whenever we box or bag stuff away we often forget what was even in there in the first place! And the best thing is that all of those clothing items were able to go on to others who could use them 🥰

it is simple DONT DO IT. Embrace the clutter you know what clutter is ? Memory's Nothing sadder that sitting in a total neat clean uncluttered house in your 60. have it full of clutter full; of memory's. My son is 24 I still have the terrible bowl he made for me out of air dry clay when he was 5 sitting on my desk. To me it is worth more than money.

I get where you’re coming from. I think keeping a few sentimental items can be special. But for myself personally, if I keep everything as special then none of it is really special. You know? I have 4 kids 7 and under. If I kept everything they’ve ever made my house would be full of stuff already lol we choose to keep a few special items in a memory box instead.

@DarrenMalin While my experience is a bit different, I understand and respect your perspective. Thinking this is where the suggestion of asking "why declutter?" is so key to the benefits. As insightfully shared by Amanda throughout her YT channel, these are suggestions for people who are not feeling the warm hug from their clutter. Perhaps worse, they feel suffocated. And we are all delightfully different beings with much common needs. Would also consider an individual's definition of "clutter" to be an important factor in deciding what to keep, what to release. I have reached that benchmark of 60😃 and can attest that some of what another may consider treasure has only become a sad and painful memory for me. I would much prefer to have the wonderful being that departed from my life rather than their stuff. Honoring their memory with a few chosen items, tucked away for safekeeping and those days when I want to step outside the present moment and recall a beautiful memory shared with someone in a time past.
