Decluttering Your Fantasy Self | Minimalism & Intentional Living

If you take a good look at all of the stuff in your home, how much of it is actually authentic to who you are right now?
In this video I am talking about the idea of the fantasy self and how we can begin to declutter the stuff in our lives that isn't true to the real us, but rather, who we envision ourselves to be.

My fantasy self was supposed to knit my own clothes, learn Spanish, belly dance, and be a professional photographer. The book "Goodbye, things" helped me to be honest with myself and let the fantasy self go. It was the perfect version of me, so it was hard to let it go but also truly freeing.

My fantasy self is perfectly made up and dressed, super productive, and always on the go. My real self is a feral 3 year old with lazy tendencies. 😂 Great video. Very helpful. ❤

I’ve collected so many supplies for different crafts/hobbies/planners/etc that my fantasy self wanted to do. My real self just isn’t good at them or didn’t love the hobby or didn’t use the supplies. I’ve gotten rid of all but my current hobby and I know at some point I’ll move on from that one too

Thanks for this, very useful way of looking at things. I have some shoes and dresses that belong to my fantasy self. I love them but never wear them because I’m a mom of 4 as well and rarely do I feel like wearing something essentialy uncomfortable or impractical. They belong to a past self and a person I will not be again for a long time :) I’m ok with that!

Right?! lol it seems so rare that in this season of life we are dressing up regularly. It's all about comfortability and practicality :)

I hear ya lol I struggled with that because I was pregnant, then breastfeeding, then postpartum (on and off for 7 years) lol It can be SO difficult when it comes to clothing sometimes.

Fantasy self: I like puzzles. Real self: I don’t like puzzles. The one I have should be passed on.
