I think I hear stress on A when he demonstrates it 😂😂
I wonder if "yolk" is a British thing. I'm American (Indiana), I definitely pronounce the L every time.
I've mispronounced and didn't know that. Thanks a lot for your help.
This word can also be spelt with <-ize> at the end. If you want to learn more about word stress (+ games and practice), check out my British Council award-nominated course: course.improveyouraccent.co.uk/register
Can you do a pronunciation video about the word 'iron'?
The second. I guess it s more American
I like this "series" of shorts with the phonetic transcriptions Please keep doing it.
Sofía Vergara is a comedy character, she speaks perfect English.

I love these videos! I got all of them right 😄
But you've said /ˈɛlɪfənt/, not /ˈɛləfənt/ as the transcription says.
I'm definitely using a schwa here. In fact, I purposefully made an effort to use schwa in the recording (as using /ɪ/ is, of course, an alternative pronunciation).
Farsi has some similarities to Italian, but instead of pronouncing Sheet shit, we pronounce shit sheet! 😂
what are your thoughts on noah webster
So do I
The first one, like "palm", "calm", "balm", "psalm" and "alms".

I’m way way off! ( pom:graneıt)
Yes, I knew that "pomegranate" is pronounced /ˈpɒmɪˌɡranɪt/, but still thanks!
You look like you are AI. This is very informative.
😊😊😊
Honestly definitely has a t in it for most people. You even say it the first time and then have to deliberately get rid of it. Why are most ESL teachers clueless??
Most people delete the t due to elision. Just take a look here: youglish.com/pronounce/honestly/english/uk.

I hate american English, and as a full blooded Englishman born in Australia, I mostly say 1 but sometimes say 2
No. I can't. Fonetic alphabet is not used in Spain to teach languages, I have no clue.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Honestly, I do put /t/ in "honestly", but I do know some people honestly don't.
Some but definitely not most.
Most people do in normal speech. It's the process of elision. Similarly, most people don't pronounce the "d" in "handbag" or the "t" in "last Monday".
1 ok 2 no 3 ok
Here is a fun tidbit about “debt”. The b has never been pronounced, nor has it ever been in the French progenitor, “dette”. The English word was originally spelled similarly, but at some point a b got added in recognition of the Latin progenitor, “dēbitum”. The story is similar for “doubt”.
Great comment! English spelling is bizarre!

SION preceded by vowel is voiced. TELEVISION, ILLUSION, ALLUSION.
Gideon pronounces "version" /ˈvəːʃən/: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJ2LxMaqZsbIl5M.html You see, the words "version" and "diversion" are exceptions, they can be pronounced with the voiceless /ʃ/ and with the voiced /ʒ/.
@user-om2ti8jj1f So, they are not exceptions. They are alternative pronunciations, since they can be pronounced both ways.
But isn't "dessert" pronounced /dɪˈzəːt/? It's how you pronounce it, Luke, with the KIT vowel in the first syllable. In New Zealand it's probably /dəˈzəːt, though, because they have the commA/lettER-KIT merger so they pronounce "dinner" /ˈdənə/ with two schwas.
😐🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm learning animals sounds XD
Please stay home about Olympic games Paris 2024
