Yes the Polish pilots were exceptional and the UK owes them a debt of gratitude. do not assume it was all about them. Czechs Aussies New Zealanders Canadians and 100s of British pilots were also involved just a bit.

Stop talking bollocks. Why were they "exceptional"? THEY owe US a debt of gratitude.... if it wasn't for the UK then they would have all persihed in nazi death camps. They valiantly provided a small amount of help during the battle of Britain.

Hi guys,I love your yt channel :) I just want to say that ,I watched one of your previous videos "7 things that shocked me in Poland". One of them was a clean transportation :) It's nothing personal, but if the more people start puting a shoes on the seats ,the will be more dirty and no one wants to sit on them :) Especially tourists who make a video about another country they are visiting :) It's more like accurate observation. That's it, there is no great philosophy in it,so don't worry about it too much. I hope you had a nice time in Poland and we invite you to visit us more often :) Have a great day :)

@ 20:43 You don't seem to realise that fighter aircraft where a valuable commodity and in short supply. Those fighter planes could not afford to be lost. Therefore just giving out planes and "letting them get on with it" was not a serious option. Also there where always more than one squadron deployed at a time. Not being able to communicate with other squadrons in the air would make them a liability.

Few foreign visitors realize that most of our beautiful cities were seriously damaged during the war. Warsaw was almost levelled and so was Wrocław. In fact, some parts of the city were totally annihilated in 1945 and never rebuilt. You can only imagine what it looked like before.

You're very kind. Don't let any comments scare you. We Poles tend to get a little high on our high horses when it comes to protecting traditions. It happens everywhere, really. People who haven't lived other cultures don't always understand that every culture marches to a different drum, and what might be perfectly normal in one place could be seen as out of place somewhere else. It's a two-way street, this cultural understanding. As guests, we do our best to learn the basics, but hosts should understand that picking up every subtle nuance is impossible. Many of our Polish traditions stretch way back in time. Wherever I live, I set an empty plate for Christmas Eve dinner. It's a reminder of stories my grandmother used to tell about wars and hard times, when people traveling could get caught in snowstorms or stranded by a train that never came. Those traditions are like warm blankets, wrapped around our childhood memories. But it's true, Slavs and Latinos have a reputation for being especially welcoming.

Ale podchodzę do tego z wyrozumiałością gdyż wiem że język polski jest bardzo trudny. Rosyjskiego uczyłem się z przymusu w szkole. Zawsze oglądam was z wielkim uśmiechem i zadowoleniem. To oczywiście taki żarcik z mojej strony. Miłego pobytu. Super

  • @SmilingShadow-jl5tr

First of all, you don’t even understand what “Catholic” means. Almost every Christian church is Catholic (from Latin, Ecumenical from Greek), with the exception of the English Church, because it is, specifically, English. Roman Church is the second oldest after the Greek Church. You can talk about culture in about 1000 years or so… 😎 Catholic means “Universal” in Latin. In Polish we say “Kościół Powszechny” (powszechny is universal in Polish). It means anyone can join in. Before Christianity religion was tied to the state / nationality. Every ethnic group, every state had its own religion. Christianity is not tied to any nationality or state. It is universal. Except the English church, because it is like old religions: tied to nationality and not separate from the secular power structure. Yes, even Baptist church is universal, because you don’t have to be an American to be a Baptist.

It's worth noting that Wrocław was heavily damaged during World War II by the Soviet Army. The German forces defending the city held out for longer than those in Berlin. This is why there's a saying in Polish songs and popular culture: "Wrocław surrenders last" - "Wrocław poddaje się ostatni" Hopefully it was the last time Soviet Hordes managed to go that far into Europe, it all depends on the Eastern Front once again...

Before the Internet, people had more time to read books and when they went somewhere, they had basic knowledge. So they could order the food they wanted or knew. This does not mean that they always pronounced the names correctly and always got what they wanted. Once in Germany, 30 years ago, I ordered a duck in bamboo and I got along with the waiter so much that I ate the bamboo, thinking it was a duck.

@@BB.Beyond.Borders Friends, as a Gen X-er this is how you did it: you INTERACTED WITH PEOPLE. You ASKED FOR HELP… 😁😁😁 Internet made everyone “socially autistic”. People of younger generations are actually afraid to talk to strangers. Funny thing is: when I, as an old timer talk to youngsters - all young folk actually LOVE to talk, they are just too shy to initialize contact… Anyhow - we had paper maps and knew how to use compass to know where true north is. We knew how to find north in the woods (moss grows on the northern side of the trees). W knew how to use an analog watch with arms and the sun to not walk in circles. We had little books with phrases we learned before going to a foreign countries. Pocket dictionaries were actually a thing. And most importantly: we were explorers. We feared not to go to a strange place having not even an inkling of an idea as to what is going to happen and what to expect. We would order food not knowing what it will be. Life was an adventure.
