I'm Pole living in Germany (yet :)). If you would like to compare Bratwurst as a german sosuage to polish sosuage it is like compare hourse (Germany) to Air Force One (Poland). Believe me if you will try polish sosuage than you will say that german sosuage taste like paper. You should buy in Poland and taste sosuage like: - kabanosy Tarczyński - kiełbasa śląska - kiełbasa krakowska - kiełbasa toruńska - kiełbasa zwyczajna - kiełbasa podwawelska there is many to buy just like ham- tens And taste cheese what is everywhere in the world- gouda (polish is delicious). Look out! If you are going to go to Poland, prepare yourself that you will go back home 10 kg heavier after 2 weeks in Poland. Soooooo delicious food, you will eat everything, because everything tastes amazing. Enjoy your meal ;)

My grandmother always told me, that when she was small that was something they were doing. Never heard about it anywhere else, tho. Nice little fact from Polish history. Maybe it's because I never did that that now I'm stuck with no bread as I can't go to the bakery during my work hours... And can only use other things or the poor quality supermarket bread.

as a German which is even much more straight than usual Germans , I say that South Africa has a typical socialist/left wing black racist, antisemitic/antizionist Nazi Tri-Party-Alliance (ANC, Union, Communists) which are also corrupt like hell and like all left wings are also an amplifier for crime - and bad economic decisions. They represent exactly the same negative combinations as all those socialist parties in Latin America (all are also antisemitic/antizionist). The infrastructure is falling apart, their racist, antisemitic/antizionist affirmation actions cause brain drain and bring permanently incompetent ppl into the system = corrupt AND racist client system. And their hands on SABC and several news papers/media is also typical for such ideologic constructs. And being part of a loser club like BRICS will help less then for instance learning that the best developed countries have all one thing in common (except a solid political and law framework and infrastructure/structure): they rank high in the Index of Economic Freedom (which South Africa does not (Rank 116 which is even below the average of the world)). Should be not a big surprise that since years neither the GDP nor the GDP per capita is growing (even worse) ... and the always high crime rate (which btw. includes permanent theftery/stealing parts of the infrastructure components) does also not support a brighter future ...

A few corrections 1. The Podchalański Sheepdog is always white and is much larger than the Labrador. 2. In Poland we have several traditional dishes such as bigos, pierogi, żurek. 3. As for famous people, Fryderyk Chopin was also Polish. Or the latest Mariusz Pudzianowski who was the strongest man in the world five times. 4. Iced vodka is simply sweet. 5. The bread in Germany where I live is completely different from Polish bread - Polish bread is much tastier. 6. Apart from the desert, we also have sand dunes that move several meters every year.

The most striking was when they have shown Chinese dumplings when talking about pierogi... Sausage is by no means a European thing - the practice of stuffing animal intestines with spiced meat dates back to neolithic times and people have been making sausages of all sort all over the world, from China to Peru. Of course there are regions where sausages are particularly popular, and Poland is definitely one of them.

4:15 The German army was very meticulous in literally razing the city to bare ground. As far as I remember, the troops would just go from one building to the next, destroying it. Those were the orders, they had to completely destroy the city. If you ever happen to visit Warsaw, go to the Warsaw Uprising Museum and wait for the projection of a short 3d movie during which you "fly" over destroyed Warsaw. I was speechless after I saw that clip. Edit: 13:20 Cold vodka is simply smoother and more pleasant to drink :)

  • @publicminx

    @publicminx

    3 ай бұрын

some of the destruction was due to fights (ca. 12%), later due to the revolt in the Ghetto (ca. 15%). the rest of the about 85% of destruction was (btw, similar to some destruction they also did in Berlin as well) for the plan to rebuild the city (which didnt happen anymore). But apart from all those world war disasters: what really sucks is that while Poland as well as Germany was able to rebuild after the War a lot, TODAY basically in the entire West they are not able to create new additional new-old urban structures like that (mixed with modern buildings etc.) but create mostly anti-urban isolated blocks on rather pointless green as 'new ecological urban structures' (in reality just a rebranding of commie block like structures - the combination of the worse: neither true nature nor a lively urban city).

There is much taken from Polish poetry in this video you react to. 'His blood will be of the heroes of old, And his name will be forty and four' is from Adam Mickiewicz's 'Dziady', one of the most influential works of Polish Romanticism. That puts 44 points in an interesting cultural context. The bread taken from the ground and stork life in Poland are important motives in Cyprian Kamil Norwid's 'My Song' poem, which many Poles know by heart. It is focused on longing for the Motherland and still something more. Both are from the end of the first half of the XIXth Century (although precise dates are hard to point out)

About wódka (vodka)... there are so many types and flavors so everyone will find something interesting. One thing - clear vodka should be as cold as possible. and one thing very funny for us. sausage in polish is kiełbasa. So when someone said "kiełbasa sausage" in fact it means "sausage sausage". Also pierogi is plural. One pieróg and many pierogi ;)

A mix of the hearty cuisines of the North and East, providing simple and filling meals that will keep you warm on cold nights, with the complex cuisines of the South and West of Europe, with their long ingredient preparation times(French cheeses, Hungarian, Italian, and Spanish meats, German Sauerkraut). It's good to be right in the middle. We get to experience the best of both worlds. Most of us under the age of 50 also know English at, at least, a basic level, as it is mandatory to learn a foreign language since primary school and nearly everyone picks English, so English-speaking tourists don't have to worry about communicating with us too much. The true origin of sausage is shrouded in mystery. It's impossible to pinpoint where meat was first encased in casing to create this beloved food. However, this method of preserving and serving meat clearly appealed to Europeans, and the idea spread throughout the continent over time. Today, virtually every European country has its own unique sausage varieties. These sausages differ in many ways, including their smoking, boiling, cooking, baking, and frying methods. They can be spicy or mild, and each region of Europe has its own distinctive style. Polish sausage, brought to the United States by Polish immigrants, became immensely popular there and is still enjoyed today. Thanks to its popularity in the US, Polish sausage has become known worldwide. Poland is also recognized as a renowned producer of cheeses!

Do you know that cold cuts meat take roots in ancient Mesopotamia and kielbasa in Rome? IDK why people think it's slavic culture. I mean we do like it. It tastes good and is handy. First official butchers guild was founded in Wroclaw in 1175 but i guess earlier people made it too. Technology and recipes vary but most civilisations invented ways to preserve meat by drying, smoking or oiling. And about vodka - we shoot it. We don't drink it for the taste. If you do, you have problem :P // Copernicus identified himself as a Pole and commanded the defense of Olsztyn Castle. He spent his most important years away from Torun. He was much more important and did much more than looking into the stars. His mother was from Germany. Also Torun was built and belonged to Teutonic Order for over 200 years. When Copernicus was born Torun had been Polish for 20 years. Malbork was built by Teutonic Order too. BTW death camps are also not built by us :P

W zupełności się zgadzam. W ostatnie zaduszki rozmawiałem z duchem kmiecia z 842 roku i on w pełni potwierdza twoje słowa.

The man dies several days later as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. His “result” can be considered an official Polish record (he survived). According to the book, the lethal dose is about 4 permille.

MORE FUN FACTS 1) The european bison was truely brought back from the edge of extinction: the population was at it's lowest in 1923, numbering 54 and extinct in the wild. Thanks to meticulous conservation efforts there are around 7500 european bisons as of 2019. Around half of the population inhibits Poland and Belarus. 2) 12:53 On a closer look the shot glasses the newlyweds are drinking from are tied with a ribbon. If the video went on, one would see them throw the glasses behind them. They are supposed to shatter but remain tied. It symbolises unity. 3) The Polish have strong opinions on mayonaise brands. 4) The names of the months in polish have unique ethymology (well, except for May). About celebrated days and traditions: 5) Wigilia (Christmas Eve dinner): there's a number of small customs associated with it, such as putting hay under the tablecloth or serving 12 dishes. The plate for uninvited guest used to be a plate for the ancestors. Likely a remnant of paganism, which- there are quite a few if one pays attention. 6) A children's game on the last week of winter involves making an effigy out of straw or crepe paper and either burning or drowning it. This actually is an old custom supposed to hasten the coming of spring, as the 'doll' represents Marzanna, the godess of winter and cold. 7) All Saints Day is a national holiday in Poland. It's custom to tidy the graves in preparation for it and visit the cementary on 1st and 2nd November. The graves are decorated with flowers and lanterns. There's also "Dziady", a collection of rites performed on the night of 31st October, although it's way less popular, unless someone is really into romantic literature. 8) On St. Andrew's, (or Andrzejki), one of the most popular methods of divining is carromancy: it involves pouring hot wax into a bowl of cold water, preferably through a key, and then observing the shadows it casts in light of a candle. Another one involves taking off shoes and placing them in a line one after another until they reach the door. The shoe that reaches the doorway first belongs to the girl who willl marry first out of the group.

Drinking vodka is a matter of tradition and culture. And when it's cold, you don't taste it as much. In addition, you need to eat something fatty before drinking. You drink from small glasses, then you drink juice or tea. Technique is important.

And remember, vodka is non coloured liquid, coloured ones with fruits added (sometimes so much sugar that they're unbearable to drink) are called "nalewki" so please keep that in mind when you'll see signs "polish vodka plates" and they will Steve you coloured ones. ill comment along watching to maybe give a bit more info: - the best thing about the Christ statue are the satellites and antennas in the crown :) and we also have tallest pope statue which is know to look as our own strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski -fat thursday comes right before catholic lent, this year 8th of february. we eat more than the pączki, basically if its sweet and deep fried it passes ;) -traditional polish food is basically made from what could be preserved for winter so sauerkraut, smoked meats and sausages, dried mushroom, flour and grains nut historically we also had significant influence from our opressors and immigrants like for example jewish people - Wieliczka salt mine is worth a visit. Its right next to Kraków and you can get trip from the city - Andrzejki is basically what Poles celebrate a month after complaininh how "pagan and satanist" halloween is ;) but its not that different, its one of the few folk thing we have -what ive learn about the flag color is that white symbolizes the purity and red - the blood of the fallen - not sure about the origins but first mention of vodka is from Poland. we keep it in the freezer bc we most often drink it straight and cold vodka goes down easier (pro vodka tip: if your clean 40% vodka freezes completely you got bad one bc it shouldnt freeze). our vodka shot glass are typically 25 ml or 40 ml (which i think are considered typical shot glasses worlwide) -empty chir and empty plate tradition is for the lost but also is seen as a place for the missing or dead friends and family -i highly reccomend taking even a full day to book an Auschwitz trip if you havent. the experience is worth it and personally i suggest taking a guide from the museum, - bread kissing is a catholic thing (body of christ) and its not as common now. but the bread itself is good -

In Poland, Catholic holidays often have pagan origins or are replaced by Catholic ones. I am from Poland but I am not drawn to the Auschwitz extermination camp, for decades I have been fed with this knowledge and memories of prisoners that I do not want to go there, it is a unique place in the world and it is overwhelming knowing that millions of people were murdered there. There is no family in Poland that did not lose loved ones in this war. In my family, they were in the Gross-Rozen and Matchausen camps.

Well not everything was right in this video, like for example Lech Wałęsa is still presented as a national hero while he in fact, codenamed Bolek, had been an operative for the security services from 1970 to 1976 so he was a traitor and not a hero, he reported on the activities of his fellow shipyard workers, but because lustration was not properly done in Poland after comunist times it's imossible to straighten the facts and make justice. Nevertheless I hope you'll visit Poland and see for yourself how beautiful it is :)
