Looks like some of the stream did not archive correctly!
Gareth in Golden Sun is definitely the big dumb boy of the group
This was a great episode.
Keep up the great work, gentlemen.
Morning gents
As much as I love Vagrant Story , Valkyrie Profile would be very interesting to get into, especially when VP2 gets to join it. I’d love some analysis on those two. (though a yt notification strongly implies that you’ve already chosen another)
If you try walking following the railroad before entering the trai n to Deling City you will see a Galbadian military car parked on the rails, i believe the reason is to Block you accesing Deling City on food before the train scene. The train scene aknowledge the train chrasing this car and removing it from the trails, thats the gag 😂
Loved Lunar since the original Sega CD version, and having my favorite video game dudes and the FakeNet run through Lunar? I am so here for this.
Yeessss I am playing this for the first time currently. Love the podcast.
LUNAR GOT PICKED! YYYEEESSS!!!! WE'RE GONNA BE FILTHY RICH FROM THIS DRAGON POOP!
Voice actor for Alex reminds me a bit of Trey Parker from South Park.
@@joepeezy4sheezy he was a former member of the boy band O-Town and became a voice actor when they broke up
Aw, I missed it.
It’s so awesome that you’re playing this game. This was my childhood! There’s something so sentimental, sweet and prototypical about this story. I feel like it would make someone experiencing it for the first time still feel nostalgic for something they never experienced.
My head canon for natural pronunciation of Germonique is: "Germ" (like the micro-organism) combined with the name "Monique". So, just add a Jerr to the front of Monique. I think it flows off the tongue better.
30:12 stomping lol you can jump through the ceiling and go past the monastery library walls in that Wiegraf battle. It's hilarious.
As I learned on Resonant Archive’s coverage of the series the Lucavi speak exclusively in iambic pentameter (at least they do in the WOTL version) but as I’m not playing along with this I can’t say whether it can be seen yet. Your discussion on telling the difference between demonic and divine makes me curious about your opinions on the ending of Shadow of the Colossus. I’ve seen so many videos where people exclaim that Dormin is obviously evil when the truth of the matter is incredibly ambiguous.
I will prefer a remake on the style of Tactics Ogre for this game. Not every game fix for hyper realistic remake like FFVII. This channel is my choice for my gym workouts, somedays i dont feel like working out, but then i think I wont be able to listen retrograde and motivate me to go to the gym 😅.
Hello Scenario Busters and fakenet! I appreciated the reading of the alternate reality gnostic gospel of Judas Iscariot. Looking forward to next week
21:31 lmao
You all know i read the descriptions, but you didn't have to do me that way at the end Chris. I know i'm stained common lol. Anyway just messin guy's,have a good week!
Thanks guys.
The game, when you're experienced with it, is very easy to break, and, in one way, yes, a lot of the most broken stuff is in the jobs available to everyone. However, the unique characters basically trade out squire's active ability set (which is useless for everyone except Ramza's unique squire anyway) for a more useful one, and typically better stat growths/equip options than squire as well, so they're pretty much straight upgrades to generic characters. At least personally, when I replay it I tend to use the named characters pretty much exclusively, and try to build them in such a way that they use their unique abilities/job as either primary or secondary (though Alicia, Lavian, and Ladd do fulfil an early generic character role for powerful generic combinations). Some characters have relatively mediocre jobs, but some very much have their own niches that set them apart from generics. Agrias' job is pretty powerful (anything that can equip Knight Swords is, especially when they have active abilities more useful than the regular Knight), and she joins a lot earlier than the other unique characters that have powerful jobs (one of which is pretty much a straight upgrade to Agrias...). A lot of them are hidden in side quests, and some of them aren't *really* worth the effort, though - and you can happily beat the game without touching them. Indeed, depending on the amount of grinding you're doing, the unique characters will join pretty underpowered compared to existing party members, needing a lot of effort to catch up in terms of passives, reactions, secondary ability sets etc.
The descriptions always make me happy guys, even still all these episodes after it started.
This was my favorite game as a kid. I got it for my phone it was pretty cheap tbh. You can grind levels so easy in the war of the lions version
That there gatdang FF tactics
I asked Yasumi Matsuno on Twitter about why Orators get guns and yeah. It's exactly what you'd expect: "It was 27 years ago and I don't remember the details. Please read with that in mind. The "Orators" were too weak to fight as they were, so it was necessary to give them some abilities. Looking back on history, many people resort to violence when they lose an argument. Of course, the great figures in history are different, but many stupid people turn to violence when their arguments are not accepted. (Right?). We put that kind of irony into this JOB. So we gave him the ability to handle a gun as the most obvious symbol of violence."
Morning gents!
Oh, no, I'm pretty sure Delita is absolutely bullshitting - he had no relationship with the Black Rams, but with the death of Baron Grimms, there's no-one to dispute his story, so he can worm his way into the Southern Sky. And I do think Glevanne was innocent, but I don't think it's a council plot - this again is Delita killing his way into Goltanna's good graces, by "revealing a traitor" on the council and then killing him quickly before the details can be examined.
Cook Allen the Demon
Stumbled across this series last week and am enjoying it. Small tip, JP progression is shared a little bit between units that participated in the same battle, so if you have a knight and an archer in the same battle, the knight will get about 1/4 of what the archer earned and vice versa.
Once again, I appreciate you guys not being afraid to be political. The "anti-woke" crowd (aka the worst people on the internet) freak out at the slightest pushback against their ideology, so it's refreshing to hear you guys crack jokes about politics in a way that's both informed and contextual based upon what is happening in the course of the podcast. Still waiting for a comment asking people to "keep politics out of my video games" when playing a political thriller, but I'm sure it definitely will happen at some point.
Even as an audio fan, I fully support the scenario chart (preferably a bustable one) Cu chulainn defeated, SCENARIO BUSTED! Hi fakenet
While they can take human form again, I think that their minds remain that of the Lucavi, human form or no, it's just a mask they can wear (and memories they can access). So Delacroix, for as long as we knew him, was a demon pretending to be human.
It is I, goblin belly, here with a drop of evil to declare my rightful place as the king of taints. Prepare to give up your souls and have your holes filled
Hello Scenario Busters. Im late this week to comment but just in time to wish you both a happy Independence day from a fan up north. Looking forward to the next episide. Hi Fakenet.
Love the callback "Woohoo!" in the background every time Selphie is mentioned.
Very few know about "the stone shit" which really begs the question how Delita knows. Great job as usual guys, your hard work is greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys for continuing to do this podcast. Fills me with much entertainment.
That joke about Delita being “The one who is torn apart” with the damned jingle had me in stitches. It really shouldn’t have made me laugh so hard, but you got me. Then there was the commentary and explanation of “council of fucked up guys”. Yeah, it’s funny because it’s true.
Speaking of good DBZ games on the DS, Monolith Soft made a turn based jrpg called Attack of the Saiyans which is wild because how many turn based jrpg Dragon Ball Z games are there? The only other one I can think of is one from the snes. Anyway it was actually way better than it had any right to be. Probably because Monolith Soft made it. Mini series when?
Hello Scenario Busters! Have you even lived if you haven't been sniped by giant robo Mustadio with a sniper rifle in the Orbonne monastery? Hi fakenet.
Amusingly, the "I made up the prophecy/legend" bit was done by the final boss of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
Bread effectively has 0 protein because the protein content on the label is mostly gluten. Nutrition facts labels overestimate the protein of plant foods to varying degrees because it's just measuring the nitrogen content of the food and not the actual amino acids or their ratios.
Morning gents!
Re: Mustadio (and future named characters) losing all plot significance when they become playable - yep, that is unfortunately how it works. As mentioned, sometimes, if they're very lucky, a character will get one or two lines of in-combat dialogue if brought to specific story battles, but otherwise, they lose their voice and relevance as soon as they become playable (and thus, able to die). Re: the Church's plot - don't want to get too specific for sake of spoilers (you're assumedly further ahead, but still, erring on the side of caution) - I think what's most interesting about the auracite plotline is that different characters, even within the same faction, seem to have different amounts of knowledge and motivation for collecting the stones. I think the general, most widely-known reason for it within the church (and to those outside who know of their schemes) is as said, to use the legend to pose the church as the peoples' saviour, with self-selected "Zodiac Braves", rather than literally summoning historical figures. Obviously, it's Final Fantasy, so there's more to the stones (and the plot) than that, but still.
If it is considered canon (which I personally do) then Vagrant Story is the latest point on the Ivalice timeline and FFXII is the earliest. The truth of the matter is a bit sketchy though as _Matsuno said in 2004 that Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy XII unfold quite close on the map of Ivalice, a complex world with a long history and the stories._ however _in 2011, Matsuno stated that he never originally intended for Vagrant Story to take place in Ivalice. As a result, any references he had made of Final Fantasy Tactics in Vagrant Story, as well as Vagrant Story references in Final Fantasy XII, only serve as "fan service"._ (Wiki Ripped) Ivalice is never referred to in Vagrant Story but its setting of Valendia is mentioned in FFXII as part of the vast territory conquered by the first Dynast King (Ashe's ancestor) Raithwall. As to what the Tactics references are in Vagrant Story there are several - In the opening of the game you read the quote - _The body is but a vessel for the soul, a puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny. And lo, the body is not eternal, for it must feed on the flesh of others, lest it return to the dust from whence it came. Therefore must the soul deceive, despise and murder men. A.J. Durai._ This referring to Arazlam Durai, the man who in the framing device of Tactics released the true events of the game in the form of the Durai Report several centuries later. Other than this most of the references are in descriptions of accessories and gems that Ashley can equip - _Beowulf - Amantine holding Beowulf the Great's hair._ _Haeralis - Star sapphire with the power of Haeralis the Brave._ (As in Delita Hieral). _Orlandu - Antimonite containing a fragment of Orlandu's skeleton._ _Agrias's Balm - Balm used by the great knight Agrias as told in the Zodiac Brave Story._ I choose to accept VS as Ivalice canon because I have no good reason not to and because these item descriptions imply that the true events of Tactics became considered canon in-universe. There was an optional scene added to the War of the Lions version of Tactics where Mustadio presents Agrias a birthday gift of Lip Rouge. This is likely a reference to the above mentioned Agrias' Balm. (if you don't come across it in your game just look up 'Agrias' Birthday - War of the Lions Exclusive Scene' here on youtube. As an aside, there are a number of... interesting accessories Ashley can find himself equipped with in Vagrant Story. If he were able to equip them all at once he would have a number of styles of earrings, rings, necklaces and chokers, an anklet (seen on the woman in the opening FMV), Armlets, bracelets, a broach, two different sets of false nails, a nose-ring, a tongue stud, Lipstick/lipbalm and all as accessories to his usual Assless chaps. Hey Fakenet! Do you do AI Art? I kinda want some artwork of Ashley Riot with a choice selection from all his possible accessories...
Another thing about Dycedarg's music, it's hidden in other songs as well. In the Sand Rats nest (song name is Night Attack) it plays around the 50 second mark. Small hint of him being involved in things early on.
Holy shit, I noticed this recurring leitmotif years ago but I always assumed it was "theme of the Lion War", "theme of plotting" or something along those lines. I didn't know the OST specifically identifies it with Dycedarg. Crazy how I'm still learning new things about the game over two decades later.
lol the opening made me laugh. Latino names can often have regional variations, so Elfira (el-FEE-ra) was likely a variation on Elvira. I can't say for sure but it sounds like it comes from Arabic, likely from the influence on Spanish of the Arab conquests of Spain
Hey guys. Hope y'all having a good day.
Genuinely, thanks for releasing these and doing this podcast.
